MoniqueD~ Congrats on your weight loss and on a scheduled date! By no means am I an expert on this (you may want to try looking at threads from people who have had the LB for an extended period but from what I gather you can expect to loose at least 50% of your excess weight. I think it really depends on how hard you work at it. Excercise is key! I believe your doctor monitors your weight and if you start to loose too much they remove some fill from the LB which allows you to eat more. Best of luck!

Boo~ Had my 6th visit and I am down 31 lbs. The nutritional doc is going to get my paperwork to the LB doc and they will submit everything together. SO now it is just sit and wait. I think they have upto 1 month to approve or deny the LB. My hubbys insurance is changing on NOV 1st so I must have it done by then. Keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe I can be down another 10 lbs or so by the time I have the surgery. I think I am going to inquire about scheduling the surgery once they submit the paperwork.

Hello, I have Aetna, have done the pre op testing. I have my last visit to the nutritional counceling dr on wed. My LB doc will not schedule my surgery until I have been approved by the insurance. Were these the same requirements you had? If so how much did you loose in the 6 months? Any suggestions?

I am drinking slimfast for breakfast and then trying to count calories. Concentrating mostly on exercising for 40 mins each day. Good luck!

    October 2009 Here I come

Hello, I believe I will also be scheduled for October. I have had 5 months of nutritional counseling my last visit is sept 4th. The doc did mention that Some insurance require 10% weight loss (start weight 306)... on my last visit. Would have been nice to know that.. then he followed it up by saying that my insurance was not one of them. Guess he could have been trying to motivate me. I have lost 20+ lbs and have 1 1/2 weeks before my last weigh in. Wanting to be down at least 27# before I start all the protein drinks. I have been working out on a regular basis 4 days a week, or walking. This week I started going to the park every morning and walking 3 miles. If I feel really motivated I actually jog for about 100 yards. Which wipes me out. Stick to eating healthy and get in the excercise. Walk for 40 mins a day and it will make all the difference. You both can do it. Be each others motivation!
  8. Hello all, My journey began January of 08 when I began researching LapBand surgery. I was ready to go forward when I was blessed with an unexpected pregnancy. She is now 7+ months and I am completing my 6 months of nutritional counseling. I had some problems with billing (docs office was not billing as nutritional counseling but physical exam) and hope that that will all be resolved quickly. My weight prior to counseling 306, 4 + months later 286. I am 5'5, 32 yrs old and have battled weight my entire life. After the birth of my first child I did not loose the 50 lbs I gained, after the 2nd child I did not loose the 40 lbs, and after the 3rd... I have finally taken off the 20 lbs I gained with her. My goal weight... maybe 150 I have not been that in so long I don't even know if it is possible. I will be satisfied with healthy but a size 10 would be nice. I am excited to get a new body and a healthier self. However, I am wary that something will once again halt the surgery and I will fall back into my nightly TV watching with a bagochips.
