tke100 replied to tke100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

The crazy thing is I used to go everyday no problem, I was a regular as can be. This is just unbelievable! I will have to get some MOM and try it in the next few days. The stool softener has done nothing for 3 days and I feel bloated and gassy, like I have to go....and nothing! -

Well so far the softeners have done nothing but the cramping is much better. I can't believe how much that little episode from the laxatives took out of me! (literally and physically) Feeling very tired today and trying to get my Water in and my energy back. Anyway ever have anything like this happen to them? Dehydration....how long til you bounce back? -

I knew I was not alone and that makes me feel a little better. I have never had this problem so for me it seems so extreme! LOL I am going to take the softener tonight and hopefully that will be much more gentle! -
untfluter- OOOHHHH that sounds yummy. How long do you cook it in the skillet for? Will have to try that one!

All sounds yummy. After this week I will get to really start creating meals again. So trying to get some good ideas does help. I juts made a pot of turkey chili with Beans the other night and it was great to have somewhat of a meal!

Hello, I was banded 08/31 and now I am on solids. But I am only getting in about 500-600 calories a day. I am basically eating yogurt, egg, cottage cheese, turkey, chicken breast and fish. And don't forget the Protein shakes! I am eating the recommended portions and have not overeaten. I have been getting at least 60 grams of protein in a day. Not supposed have to have veggies or fruit yet. Can we eat red meat yet? (like ground lean) How are we supposed to lose eating so little calories? I know my body is taking everything I am eating so how do we get up to the 1000-1200 calorie range? I do not get filled til 10/22. Someone was saying once the swelling is completely gone and everything completely healed, the hunger will come back. That has not really happened yet. Since I started mushies and food and have only lost 1 lb! Compared to the 15 I lost on liquids after the surgery! Would love to hear what others have experienced and when they found their groove, so to speak. Would be interested in knowing what and how people are eating to get the calories in. Thanks

Getting in enough calories?
tke100 replied to tke100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Band Groupie- thanks so much for the great responses. I too learned a little more today from you. I have one more week til fruits and veggies....and I feel better now about waiting. Being told it is all about healing is one thing and then getting the detailed information was so much better. Now I understand this process I am going thru now. I am just going to stick to what I have been doing because I am getting enough Protein and ask my nutritionist about the increased meal/snack for the calories. Thanks again -
Getting in enough calories?
tke100 replied to tke100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Band Groupie, thanks. I am wondering the same thing because without the fruits and veggies and sticking to the 2-3oz portion sizes I am not getting the calories in. They gave me a handbook that says no fruits n veggies until the 5th week! For example dinner is 2oz chicken, that's it. My average calories are 500-600 and I walk 2 miles a day burning up to 300 calories. hhhmmmmm -

Thanks for the replies. I just feel a little frustrated right now I guess. Because I can't imagine eating so little and not losing. I guess it all makes sense tho! Did you find once the hunger did return your calories increased and you started losing lbs again? -
10 days post op, when does the energy & stamina come back?
tke100 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK so I was banded 08/31 and I am feeling pretty good. This morning I felt good so I figured I would start back on the wii active and could not even go 6 minutes! I used to do the 30 minute workout before surgery! I felt weak and sore! When did everyone get their energy/stamina back after surgery? I know I am still healing but it made me cry that I could not even do today what I used to do before surgery. Am I just limited to only walking at this stage? Any advise would be great. Would love to know when veryone got their energy back and was able to excercise fully. Thanks :w00t: -

I really thought I could work out because I feel fine. Have not have pain, getting in protein and water. Been walking everyday. I guess you are right about the muscle mass, the bozing was even hurting me....uuuugggghhhh....I guess I am starting over in that department. -
The two I have found that I can tolerate and actually like are the RTD Lean Body by La Brada 40g protein and RTD Oy Yeah shakes 32g protein. These are a little higher calories but my nutritionist said they were fine. They both taste great are very easy to drink. The one thing I needed was that it was lactose free so I was a little more limited.

Wow you all are doing great! My Dr does not want me adding any mushy foods til after my post op on 09/09! Still solely on Protein shakes and Water. Only a few more days right? I can have broths but have not really been into them thus far. Yahoo finally pooped and that is making things feel better too, still gassy! Today I got right up out of bed and showered and am getting my day started, may even venture out today! (have been inside due to the air quality with the fires here in CA)
