  1. It is a very weird feeling.. and somewhat painful when i bend or get up from bed and the couch. although i know i'm still healing. does anyone know what i'm talking about?
  2. i was just banded exactly one week ago and i have lost 8.2 lbs.
  3. I haven't lost too much before surgery... about 10-12 pounds but I plan to lose more in the next month right up until the date. I really have gotten serious about preparing myself for life after LB surgery. I purchased Protein powders and supplements about a month ago and have been doing the Proteins at least once a day. I think I lost those 10 lbs in that month alone just by doing the protein and changing my diet. Now I can say i'm totally used eating so much better... i love all the foods that are high protein/low cal/low carb/low sugar. So as I said, I think I'm about as prepared as I can be. And I'm so excited!
  4. I tore my meniscus about 3 years ago and since then have gained lots of weight (about to change thanks to band!!). but I'd still like to start on a path to exercising that will help me but not hurt my knee. Anyone else have bad joints and ideas? Thanks!!

Did you tell everyone or no?

I'm scared of people I know finding out. I really don't know why. My mom and dad know, and some friends. Whether people's opinions about WLS are good or bad, I'd rather just not hear any of them. I think thats why I keep it a secret. I just don't want anyone to make it the point of conversation EVERY TIME I SEE THEM.
  6. LOL also I do not work for nectar but it sounds like i do. Also MAKE SURE YOU GET BLENDER BOTTLES!!!! I HAVE 5 OF THEM!!!!
  7. I can honestly say that I actually ENJOY my protein!!! You guys should really check out nectar Protein (here's a link) Nectar Protein by Syntrax Protein - Discount Sport & Bodybuilding supplements - My Supplement Store Online It really is the best tasting in my opinion. I also have a vanilla flavor, but I drink the Fuzzy Navel Nectar. I will put half a bottle packet of Crystal Light peach tea or strawberry. I REALLY recommend you try a Nectar.. I think on some sights you can find sample packets. 8. Hi Mia  I am about to turn 27 on Friday (!!) and I'm scheduled for surgery on October 6. I have not told many people at all. My parents know (and my dad has decided to blab it to a few other family members, which I'm sort of mad about). I also told a few friends whom I work with. And one friend outside of work knows and they are all super supportive. I don't know why I want to be so secretive about it. After reading the 20s, 30s, and 40s forums I notice a definite variance in the amount people are willing to share. I don't know why I am sort of mad at my dad for sharing it with family... I guess its just that I feel like a failure more than anything (just being honest). I am in counseling and have been going weekly since before I even started the process for lap band surgery. I really think it helps me identify my feelings about it. It also helps that my therapist specializes in the pre and post-op weight loss surgery community. So yeah, I'm with ya!

suggestions for new bander with a bad knee?

i should also mention that I have tried and tried to master the elliptical, however I still cannot do it for more than two minutes before I'm completely out of breath/feel like I want to pass out. I'm definitely not there yet.
  10. My surgery date is October 6, 2009 and while I feel as prepared as I can, I am looking for additional support and answers to a few questions. Nice to meet everyone

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

I'm getting banded on October 6, 2009! They actually called me on Tuesday to tell me they had a cancellation and wanted to see if I wanted to take the spot.. but its on September 8! I didn't want to do it so soon because i'm a bridesmaid in a wedding on September 19th... just figured it wasn't the best idea. So excited! My 10 year high school reunion is in 2010 and I just realized I could use that as a good goal for some weight loss
