  1. Hi there!

It's going....still waiting for that one incision to heal, it's been a pain! I'm 4 weeks today, still no fill (because of the incision), but I'm not starving or anything. My weight loss is pretty slow at this point though, which I don't understand at all since I average about 500 calories a day (was lower, but Julie told me between 500-800 and it seems when I get over 500, I gain! GRRRR).

I think you can only buy the Unjury online at their website (unjury.com, I think)...that's where I got mine.

How are you doing? Is this fill still working well for you?

  2. I'm a HUGE peanut butter fan - I've actually found a really yummy substitute that doesn't have anywhere near the calories or fat...it's called PB2 (ordered it online)....it's basically a peanut butter powder, you can mix it with water to make it spreadable like PB (haven't tried that) OR you can add it to recipes...I put it in my shakes - so yummy. It has like 50 (something) calories for 2 TBS, just under 2 gms of fat, and like 5 g protein...I only use 1 TBS in my shakes, since it really gives it enough of the PB flavor. But seriously - crackers sound awesome right now...really anything other than liquid does...can't wait for cottage cheese (how crazy is that?)

  3. That's awesome! For some reason, I thought I had to wait until next Thursday (at 3 wks). Very good news for me ;-)

  4. Yeah - I didn't realize I had this problem (never really had to have band-aids and tape I guess). Oh good! So did you start mushies the day after 2 weeks post op or do you start them at 3 weeks? I'm confused by that.

  5. Hi there! I'm doing okay. I ended up canceling the appointment. The redness around it was from the adhesive on the paper tape...I guess I'm allergic to bandaids and any type of adhesive (we had covered it with gauze and the paper tape thinking that would be better than band-aids...not so much). It's starting to look better (not as good as the others, but it does seem to look better than when I saw him last week, and he said it was fine then).

How are you doing with the mushies?

  6. Interesting....

Have you tried any other protein (or do they all have a lot of iron?...I haven't ever checked that).

  7. That's great - I can't wait for that. Did he use staples on any of your incisions? I had asked before the surgery, and Lissette said that he doesn't usually use them on lap band patients - well, he did on me...not at the port incision, but the other ones. I just had a huge shock when we were changing the bandages. I'm trying not to freak out, but am really dreading the whole removal part :-(

  8. Hey Jeri - I'm doing okay....I'm pretty sore today (more so than yesterday, which was a surprise). I got home this afternoon. Haven't had any gas pains or anything like that, just feel really sore. I just took another walk around the block and am about to take some meds and hopefully get some sleep (didn't sleep much in the hospital last night).

  9. Hi there! I'm home...all went well. The first few hours after were the worst for me (nausea from the anesthesia)...but I'm good now...very sore, but hopefully that will go quickly!

  10. Hi! My surgery is at St. Joseph's in Burbank (Dr. Quilici)

  11. Hi Anush!

I'm doing okay...getting a bit nervous (not sure why, I'm more than ready, LOL). The liquid diet is going okay...the more I exercise though, the harder it is because I get hungrier :-(

Are you in much pain? I'm currently on hold with my primary doctor's office because there was a bit of a snafu with the lab - I went last Thursday for my bloodwork, but they didn't run all the tests they were supposed to, so they called and asked them to add them that same day, but as of Friday, they didn't have the results for those yet, so I'm worried they didn't do it and I won't have the necessary tests...grrrr.

  12. I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better! I hope you're able to sleep tonight (I'm sure I won't sleep at all the night before mine, lol).

  13. Tomorrow's the big day! So excited for you....hope all goes well, I'll be thinking about you!

  14. I'm right there with you.I'm so scared that I won't get to have surgery next week because of this lingering cold, it's not full blown-and not my sinuses luckily, just a sore throat -some days it's worse than others. I wish I knew why he says no vitamins - others that I've talked to (with other doctors) were not told that same thing and continued to take them up until the week of surgery. I made chicken noodle soup and then just drained out the broth (and my mom got stuck with brothless soup, lol) - hoping that the enzymes from the chicken in the broth will help me (could be a complete old wives tale but I don't care - I'll try anything).

I am also VERY tired..I could sleep all day - but alas, I was good today - my clock went off at 5:30 and I got up and did a mile on the treadmill and I'll do another mile tonight (even though I'd much rather wrap up warm in bed and take a nap!)

  15. Yes - I did find one at Trader Joe's I like - it's a sweet potato bisque....the red pepper one was a bit hot for me (I'm a wimp, lol). I'll have to check out Albertson's, I haven't been there yet.

9 pounds - that's great!!! It does make it slightly more bearable to see the scale moving in the right direct ;-)

  16. It's going okay...the first couple days were the hardest. I'm not terribly hungry at this point, but I am completely EXHAUSTED! I have zero energy, which sucks. I'm not coming anywhere near the 1,000 calories though - just can't seem to make it (it doesn't help that I'm not finding a lot of soups I really like, lol)....but I'm sticking with it....but I am losing weight, which is a plus :-)

  17. You start your clear liquids tomorrow, right? Wow - I can't believe you are being banded before the end of the week! How exciting!!! I wish you much success and an uneventful surgery.

Keep us posted how it all goes :-)

  18. Hey there! Yesterday was my first day of liquids...it was okay. I did find I was a bit hungry when I went to bed, but it wasn't unbearable or anything.

I made my appt for the assesment (next Friday)....you've got less than a week before you're banded - I'm sure the next 6 days will fly by!
