Hey OP, I know you mentioned the support groups are not convenient but I want to stress how important is to have one. A set of real people who know what you are going through and you can communicate with face to face is going to be extremely beneficial. I would suggest to sacrifice that one evening for the support group. In the end what matters is your physical and mental well being. Good luck!

junbug178 replied to junbug178's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Finally, the first day is done. I had another Optifast serving when I got home. Afterward, I had a low sodium chicken broth and a small can of diet dr. pepper with headache. I feel a lot better and I didn't feel hungry at all this morning. We'll see later today. -

October 28th. Hopefully I can get ins. approval sooner I would like to move it up to the 14th. -
I want to be able to fly in a plane and not feel bad for the person next to me. The person usually sitting next to me is my daughter, she's small so she can spare the space. I spoke to my daughter today and I asked her "if she would love her daddy fat or skinny", she said "she loves me no matter what", great answer! I love her so much, hence the reason why I'm on this journey.

I have realized before that I tie my shoes with the bows on the side sometimes, I always thought it was weird when I noticed it.

junbug178 replied to A-WENZ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm down almost 9 lbs since I start on my journey. I must admit though, most of it was b/c I was sick last week, I think I had the flu. -
Pre-op Diets and Complications.
junbug178 replied to Ghetto's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey G, I just wanted to say hang in there, what happened, happened, concentrate on rest of your pre-op diet. Take it one day at a time, or even one hour at a time. Don't get discourage. Maybe try finding a Support Group or a buddy to help through the process. Remember all journeys begin with one small step. -
I'm preparing for my operation and I would to start buying some the things I will need after my Lap Band. What kind of utensils would you reccomend? Where to buy them? I am hoping to find a set of small stain steel utensils. Thanks!

Where to buy small utensils?
junbug178 replied to junbug178's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FYI...I bought the set from Crate & Barrel. They are very nice. I can't wait to start using them. -
Funny you mention that, the hospital performing my surgery as a group called LifeHelp. They assist with making the appointments and follow up to make sure all of the documents are sent to the Surgeon. I have to admit this whole process was pretty seamless for me. Also, they are super nice! I give them

Great News. I wanted to  to after reading your first post. Might I suggest going to a Lap Band Support Group in your area. You'll meet alot of people with alot of the issues and possibily get some insight on them. Good luck! -
Just went to my first Lap Band Support Group. It was pretty awesome meeting people like in different stages of the Lap Band. It feels great knowing I'm not alone. See ya next month Group. :tt1:

It's test to determine if your throat has any holes or pockets. These holes/pockets can cause complications with the Lap Band. -

I liked them too. Also, at the bottom of the page they have the appetizer plates. Thinking about buying some of those too. -

Dayum, that's quick, congrats! -
I met with the LifeHelp Coordinators. They help go through all the cost of the surgery and setup my evals for the surgery. The projected date of my surgery is 10/12-14. Getting a little nervous. :w00t:

I wanted to ask the banders how has life been after no more steak? At the Lap-Band Seminar surgeon mentioned no rubbery food, such as steak, shrimp and calamari. Needless to say I'm a little bummed out about the steak. My wife and I usually get our Birthday Steaks from our local steak house I guess we will need to come up with new tradition.

No Steak, Shrimp and Calamari
junbug178 replied to junbug178's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What does the Papaya pills do? :blushing: Luckily those are only birthday steaks so it will probably be very rare, I guess we can skip the birthday steak that comes that first year of the surgery. Honestly, this was the only piece of information I was truly bummed about. It's weird how my mind has created these crazy relationships/associations to food. -
No Steak, Shrimp and Calamari

I guess it shouldn't be much of a problem if you cut it in really small pieces and chew it about a thousand times.
