Breakfast ideas that don't involve EGGS!
untfluter replied to thecooley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The Morningstar sausage patties are good... the "bacon"? not so much... LOL for lunch/dinner, their "chicken" patties are good and so are the Veggie Patties... I get the veggie patties at BJ's... I get like 16 of them for $11. A piece of fat free cheese and some mustard and I'm ready to go... both are high in soy protein... which is great for women.... -

I use the Pure Protein brand of both Protein shake powder and bars. It only has 200 calories (meal replacement) and it has 20g of protein and only 2g of sugar.... -

I too really like the Greek Yogurt..I use the Chobani brand... I really like the Peach one the best... I buy it at my grocery store, but I have never seen it at my Walmart.... you say you don't like yogurt, try the Greek Yogurt, it is thicker then the regular yogurt, so you might find that you like it. -
Good luck Jim! I was banded on May 19th by Dr. Paul Wizman at Northwest Medical Center in Margate. I have lost 43.5 lbs since my surgery and a total of 55.5 since the 2 wks before my surgery when I started the pre-op liquid diet. This is the best thing I could have ever done for my health and my life. Keep in touch and let me know how your surgery goes!!

Do You Still Have Your Gall Bladder?
untfluter replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Nope!! Had mine taken out nearly 5 yrs ago after having issues off and on for about 4 yrs and none of the tests showing that the Gall Bladder was the issue... When it went, it went in grand fashion.. LOL I was at my companies holiday party on Friday night... started feeling sick on Sunday night.. called my parents Monday morning to come take me to the ER... my mom had to call my boss and tell him I was in the hospital and having surgery the next day.. he was like, "we just saw her Friday night at the party" LOL the surgeon came in after the surgery and told me that my gall bladder was gangrenous (sp?) and should have come out months ago... I told him, "I wasn't in this pain a few months ago" LOL the good thing is that my surgeon didn't have to remove it before he banded me... LOL -
Have you had your band more than 6 months?
untfluter replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Something that you need to keep in mind....yes.. you can lose weight w/out exercising... BUT... you MUST burn more calories then you take in in order to lose the weight... that's not to say that you have to be a maniac and work out for 5 hours 7 days a week.. also, by exercising... you give your skin a better chance of bouncing back by toning up your muscles....I didn't start working out until I was about 6 wks post op... I am not 6 months post op.. but I am right at 5 months.. I have lost 43.5lbs since my surgery... I started working out in the pool, going to Water aerobics.... then I joined Curves... it's a 35 min work out... and I got 2-3 times a week.. in my first month, I lost 4 inches all over... not bad I would say... but that being said... exercise is still a part of this journey.... I do get hungry... it's nature... BUT... I go hours now before I get hungry where as before, I would be hungry, at least think I was, an hour after I ate a big meal.... good luck in whatever decision you make.. but I know for ME... getting banded was the BEST thing I could have done for my LIFE.... -

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!
untfluter replied to Scorpioqt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
ok.. went for a fill yesterday... my surgeon didn't do a fill. He says it sounds like I am perfect right now.. Definately don't think I'm at my sweet spot... I've only had 3 fills w/a small unfill of 1/2 CC for a total of 4CC's in my band... so I go back on Nov 18th and we will see where we are... BUT.... I lost another 5 1/2 lbs since 9/9/09, so I am happy about that!! -
Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!
untfluter replied to Scorpioqt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I go for a fill tomorrow so they will weigh me. I have decent restriction right now so we will see if he gives me a fill. I think I could probably use another 1/2 CC at this point..... I'll check in after I see my surgeon tomorrow and let everyone know the latest update! -
Dr. not keeping track of fill amounts??
untfluter replied to amymay's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
wow!! my dr gives us a card.. I got mine when I did my education class, which was 2 wks before my surgery... they weighed me and wrote that on the card.... and every time I go in for a fill, they weigh me, write it down on the card and then put down how many CC's they put in and the total number of CC's... and I keep this card.... -
Is it possible to slip your band...
untfluter posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
from coughing? I have been sick since Saturday, woke up w/a bad cough, was running a fever until yesterday (Tues) afternoon. I have been paranoid of slipping my band from coughing so much... does anyone know if it's possible to slip your band from coughing? I was banded on May 19, 2009. I am already scheduled to see my surgeon for a fill next week, but I have been really worried about this. Thanks for any insight..... -
Is it possible to slip your band...
untfluter replied to untfluter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok.. I just spoke w/my surgeon's nurse and she said that there is no concern about slipping my band from coughing... I feel much better now.. whew! LOL I was VERY paranoid about that.... Thanks for everyone's responses.... -
I don't agree w/that... but that's just my opinion.. you get out of the workout what you put in to it.. I know I get a good work out... I break a good sweat and get my heart pumping really good...since the machines are resistance based, the faster/more reps you do in the 30 sec at each station, the more resistance you are gonna get... but... that being said... everyone has to find what form of exercise works best for them....
-
I joined Curves on Aug 25th. They took my measurements that day... they took my measurements again on Sept 21st and I had lost a total 4 inch all over..I know it wasn't ALL from the working out there, but I was VERY pleased w/it and I like that I get a good work out in in only 30 min... but... Curves machines are based on resistance... good for toning... not sure how much muscle building it would do...

What is your favorite / the best Protein Shake for pre-op liquid diet?
untfluter replied to SumSum's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup!! LOL because I had 5 a day, I didn't feel THAT hungry... LOL -
Every surgeon is different, some put some Fluid in when they do the surgery, some do not...mine does not... and mine is a bit more conservative in his fills... I had 2 CC's in my first fill and I had a little restriction. I have the AP Standard band, which is 10CC's. My second fill was 1CC but I made the mistake of trying sushi the day after my fill, BIG MISTAKE for me..LOL I must have had some rice or something stuck so I went in and he took out a 1/2 CC, and I had hardly any restriction.. LOL so now I had only 2.5CC... I went on Sept 9th for my 3rd fill, 1 CC for a total now of 3.5 CC and I have great restriction for now...... so everyone is also different in how they react to the fill and how much restriction they will feel... good luck!!

What is your favorite / the best Protein Shake for pre-op liquid diet?
untfluter replied to SumSum's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon has us drink 5 Slim Fast shakes a day and one meal of lean protein w/2 cups of salad and 2 tsbp of fat free dressing for my 2 wk pre-op diet.. I lost 14lbs... I hope this helps!! -
It is perfectly normal. It's from the gas they use during the surgery. I used Phazyme... you can use Gas-X, they have the strips you put on your tongue and they dissolve... that should help relieve some of the gas pains... I know I burped a lot the day after the surgery but then I wasn't burping much but I still felt like I needed to burp.. once I started taking the Phazyme, it helped and got better... congrats on starting your journey!!

Thanks!! I think I got it!!

I too have found since my last fill 2 wks ago that I am VERY tight in the morning and even greek yogurt was a little much in the mornings.. so now I have my Protein Shake first and then my greek yogurt about 11am... lunch at about 12:30... I use Pure Protein brand chocolate, just under 8oz of milk, some ice cubes and peanut butter also... YUMMY!! I love chocolate and peanut butter together... LOL

Looking for meal ideas
untfluter replied to tke100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's DELISH! LOL the whole thing from start to finish, prep to plated, 30 min.. it takes longer to prep then to cook.. because you are using cutlets and then pounding them a little thinner, they cook pretty fast... maybe 10 min... but I also put the lid on the pan too... I like to use Provolone because the smoked flavor is great... the friend who gave me the recipe likes to use Parm.. just depends on what you like.. let me know how it turns out!!
