"Time is running out!!!!!"That's what it felt like when i got on the scale at gynecologist office and saw that i weighed three-hundred and ninety-five pounds!! What am i going to do, I've tried everything and nothing seem to work. We all know the usual suspect, slim-fast, diet pills,weight watchers, la weight loss,etc. Then there were also the co-morbidity sleep apnea, insulin resistance, and polycystic ovaries. What was i supposed to do no one could give me an answer until Dr. Blanton (the best gynecologist ever) said " dieting for you will not work you". Then he suggested the lap-band and referred me to Dr.Merriman. Dr. Blanton's office set up my appointment right away. It was 2-2-2009 that meet with Dr. Merriman and his friendly staff, he look at my file, talked with me and was upfront about what he was able to do. I was obvious that i had to lose some weight before surgery, so he told me that i needed to lose at least six-five pounds before he would even consider me as a candidate for surgery. I was so overweight that i was a risk for weight -loss surgery. At that moment i thought that this was it,how was i going to lose that much weight on my own, but i wasn't on my own. Dr Merriman referred me to yet another wonderful doctor Dr. McGann at the Shumpert Healthplex in Shreveport, La. He was the most uplifting person i ever met. So encouraging, when i left his office on 2-16-2009 i was so determined not to let 65 pounds get in my way of a new beginning for my self, that i did exactly what he said "you have to change your mind" What is acceptable to you? Is being overweight acceptable to you? NO!!!!!!! I can have and do better for me! and i did. I lost the weight (no pills)Atkins Diet only, it took me 6 months but i did it. And now it is 8-18-2009  nine day post-surgery. I am well on my way! Today i am 82 pounds lighter and loving it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
