Chew chew chew, go slowly that’s the key Tamie 2009 256/150

Oh you did not read who many cheat the band and cry they can’t lose weight. I never said I have not had issues caused by the band but I knew the risks and chose the band. I’m not the one crying. You sound very negative in general, sorry life is not working for you but people come here for advice not to to be damned. I have had two surgeries and will have another very soon. It is what it is. Sorry for your troubles and statistics are about 27% have complications Tamie 2009 256/150

You all know it is a tool not a miracle worker. You have to put in some work, like no bread, tortillas, ice cream junk food. Keep a log and if you have no restriction then go get a fill (monthly) I lost 120 lbs first year and have kept it off over 7 years now. You can cheat but don’t blame the band for your failures. I to was banded in 09 with no problems until this summer. Same as you same symptoms. Today I had an unfill of 6cc and a CT scan. I have a hh. I’m not sure what’s next but I’m thinking nothing good. I was throwing up in my sleep just clear bitter liquid, diet does not help but tonight I feel so much better. Good luck and don’t wait to long or it can get worse. Tamie 2009 256/150 I was down to 130 for the past 7 years. I will get there again

My Lap Band caused Esophageal Cancer

I am just 9 years out and all of the sudden have developed heartburn. It’s really bad at night and causes me to throw up in my sleep ( clear fluid that tastes like bile) and I wake choking. Even if I’m sitting up. Tamie 2009 256/150 -
Oh no a whole chimi? I have not had a chimi in 9 years. I did all of the sudden start gaining again so I got a fill (I was at 4 now 5.5) but now I keep salvaging and urp in my sleep. I can eat and drink and I stop eating at 5 pm go to bed at 10, what up with this?

Omg I totally understand your feelings. I still to this day have told very few. I just tell people I have a sensitive stomach and if I am not careful I will throw up

What is the goal? Satisfied? Full? Restriction? What is the definition of "restriction"?
Tamie replied to BringingSexyBackToTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded in 2009, in 2011 I had port replaced.i am down 106 lbs and holding for two years. I only have 5 cc in and can eat just enough to get "not hungry" but I can also have just a bit more if I really really want to. Again I reached my goal in 9 months and have kept it off. Remember we can't say no to everything all the time but we are responsible for what we put in our mouth. Enjoy your new tool, listen to your body, you will do great. Just pick wisely as you are limited on your space. -
Keep walking, a lot. The sooner you get the air out the sooner it won't hurt. Tamie Banded 7/21/09 246 135

I find I can't do the mushy so well, if its hard I chew better. Mushy tends to be to easy to eat then I get sick. If I have to chew a lot I tend to eat slower.

How many calories do you consume at goal?
Tamie replied to gingerbug's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I eat from 1030-1200 a day. Some days are more busy with less some are less busy with more. I track all my food on myfitnesspal -
You tell them, I ride my own. Started at 246 Now 135-140 depends on day. Lol

I have like six and I got my side and stomach to cover my band scares. Lol if I could post I would show you.

I was banded 4 plus years ago, was able to off meds after 3 months. I was just put back on because my A1C is back high. I have gone from 246 lbs to now I sit at 135-140, guess that part only corrected its self for a short while. I am on metformin and have a hard time with the pills. 2000 a day.

My name is Tamie and I was banded in July 2009, I had to have my port replaced in nov 2011 due to a leaky port. I had lost 100 then gained back 50 in that time. Now today I am down 106 lbs I feel great and eat like we are suppose to eat, small portions of anything. I make sure to eat healthy and every now and then I can have a treat. The key is proportions, I still take a lot of different foods for my lunch so I can have variety and this keeps me from straying to bad food. They make a dark chocolate granola that fills my cravings. I still eat on a small plate and my stomach does not like some foods any more but that's ok it just means I don't need them ( bread, tortillas) I have learned to layer my foods to make sure I an getting the right amt of proper Vitamins. Veggies first, then my Protein. Sometimes I just want desert so that is when I pull out yogurt ( vanilla) and add that chocolate granola. Yummy and 140 cal. Also log your food every bite!!!! I use My Fitness Pal, it is great and works with endomondo a exercise tracker. Don't worry just log it, this is for you to help you, another tool in your journey. Good luck every one, YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!! Tamie 246 140 July 2009 PS; I AM AT GOAL have been for 2 years now. I still track my food and exercise.

Congratulations Karen, my Dr kept on me about my band after the revulsion. I only saw him twice after and he set me right back to where I was at my first maintaining weight. I had to wait 4 weeks post surgery but then I was set. Had to go back and get a 1/2 cc out. I have a 10cc band with 5 1/2 in now. Great job, you will get it off, just look at where you are.

Mine changes day to day. Sometimes I can have hot sometimes cold. Your body will tell you. But yes coffee is in my diet. I do sugar free because I don't need the sugar. I waited one week but never had reflux issues. Be careful and take it slow.

Post-Band Eating Question
Tamie replied to Bandista's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have friends that still try to sabotage my success. It is what it is, they are large folks, I know what I have to do and stick to it. You can to! I am the cook in my family and it has made my family eat better. If I have three people eating over I cook for three and just skim a bit for my self and then add an extra fruit or veggie as an extra if they need. But that's it and it has been 4 years with no complaints. -
I'm in Tucson, not to far. I have not found anybody down here. If you don't mind I would like to hang out here.

It starts out slow, or so it seems. Just wait and just do what your dr has taught you. Stay off the scale and just ease in to your new life. Take it slow and you will do great. Tamie
