Do you think Celebs & other famous people have Lapband surgery?
faybie replied to JLB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think they do, I think it might be very common. Obviously, I have no evidence, LOL. -
It is when you can't control how much you eat anymore or you only stay full for 2 hours or so, then you will need a fill. If you are having trouble still eating certain things and keeping things down, I would wait. Hungry too soon is the biggest symptom I can think of. Good luck!

Post-Op gut pains
faybie replied to IlliterateJedi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hmmm. I was sore but no burning sensation. I would call your Dr's. nurse and see what he/she thinks. -
hmmm I have seen other people who are better at describing how to do it, but I will give it a try. Go to your profile and edit signature. Copy the link on tickerfactory.com. then click the button that looks like a mountain in the edit signature screen. delete the http:// that is already filled in and paste the link in the pop up window. That should do it. I use Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-V to paste. I hope that helps, like I said I have seen people who are very good at describing how to do this so if I confused you try a search for ticker on the blue menu bar. Good luck!

Hey Nella, I just read that you are returning to work after 7 days and I think you will be just fine with that. Fills are different for everyone, I don't think I have seen 2 people the same. The best thing to do is get to know your band because only you will know when it is time for a fill. Good luck, let me know if you have more questions.

Libra, Take them now. I didn't have thigh, calf and upper arms at first and now I do. It helps with motivation too even if I don't see the scale moving, I can always check measurements! Do it! LOL Roainsmom, Yea boobs sticking out farther then belly is a good thing. he. he.

Does anyone have an Excel Template?
faybie replied to Sand Pirate's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you looked at fitday.com? You can track everything and it even makes graphs for you. It is not MS Excel though. -
I don't know either Drs. Have you tried using the search function? It is in the middle of the blue title bar. Put each Drs. name in seperate and see what comes up. That was very helpful to me when I was researching my two choices. Good luck!

That's great! Congrats to her! This was my first year in a long time that I didn't add 10 pounds for the holidays... Life is Good!

Welcome Melissa, Glad you found us! This site has been a god send for me. Try to find your December 06 bandsters thread. You will find lots of people who were banded in December in there. It is nice to chat with people who are going what you are going through at the same time as well as support and learn from new and veteran bandsters.

I didn't remember this happening until I was reading my journal a few hours earlier. I had a bout with extreme sadness and cried for about 3 hours for absolutely no reason. I remember now, that several of the girls that were banded the same month as me were complaining about this their first two weeks after surgery. Eventually, it will even out and you will probably forget all about it like I did. I think you should write what you are feeling down in your LBT journal. It was interesting for me to go back and see what I had written.

Questions about gas pains post op
faybie replied to InTheBreeze13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought Gas-x strips that melt on your tongue. Although I didn't have a lot of gas pain. I think gas pain and the chest cavity pains are from two different sources, therefore different. Before my surgery, I read where one Dr. requires his patients to do an enema the night before. I know it doesn't sound fun. You can get them at your corner drugstore such as Walgreens or CVS. I think that was the best pre-op advice that I received. I truly believe it helped reduce my gas complications. Good luck! -
What do fills feel like?
faybie replied to sophrosyne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fills are rather painless and anticlimatic Here is a post that I truely appreciated. I read it everytime I am going for a fill. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/increase-your-chances-t22611.html -
Just Scheduled & A Bit Nervous in Texas
faybie replied to hopeful07's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome hopeful from another fellow Texan. Getting banded was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I was wired before my surgery as well. Actually, I haven't come down off of my high yet. The more weight I lose the more energy I have and I have just been going and going like the energizer bunny. LOL. I got up at 5am today. I can't say that I can remember the last time I did that voluntarily. Welcome and good luck! -
I have anxiety and panic attacks, as well as recovering from depression, I take: 40mg Celexa 300 mg Wellbutrin

Welcome, congrats on your success so far. Be sure to look for the Dec. 06 bandsters thread. It will be a group of everyone banded this past December. It is great to share your journey with people in the exact same stage. I love my Aug 06 group!

I was reading my journal. I haven't added an entry in a while. It was quite fun reading my thoughts just after being banded. I was reading my daily meals too, funny I wasn't making very good choices back then. I had cookies for dinner one day... jeesh. I make much much healthier choices these days. I should keep more of a log of my food. I tried on fitday, however it is so hard to find matches for foods that it got frustrating. Just ran my numbers. I am down to a BMI of 29. That was nice to see. I have been up since 5am. I don't normally wake up until 10am on Sat. I want to make breakfast however my family is still asleep. If I grab a small snack it would be my breakfast, so I have no choice but to wait for them to wake up. I am going in for a fill next week. I can't wait! Oh, and I also just took measurements and I went down 7 3/4" in the month of December. Such a great feeling. I remember browsing the site before surgery wishing I could already have results like people on here. Within a blink of an eye here I am reaping the rewards of my journey. I love my band!!!!! I want to shout it from roof tops that I LOVE MY BAND!!!

Somebody Please Respond Just a Few ?s
faybie replied to Chris1982's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hmmm. Let's see 1. Did your Dr. ask you to quit smoking before surgery? It seems that a diet and smoking would be a LOT to do all at once and might add extra stress. 2. Follow your Dr's recommended diet. You will find that every single Dr. has a completely different diet plan pre-op. I wouldn't buy expensive stuff though, I would find cheaper alternatives. 3. My Dr. used gas. 4. I really don't know of any statistics. 5. You may be in pain and have to sleep on your side for a while after surgery, but once you are healed you will be able to sleep however you wish. 6. My pain medicine was liquid. 7. I was not in a lot of pain when I woke up. The hardest thing for me to do was to register on the breathy thingy they have you breath into help prevent pneumonia. It took several hours after the surgery for me to feel the pain. Good luck! -
3 days post op and still no poop!
faybie replied to mamasharones's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me 9 days, called my nurse, they weren't too concerned either. Nature finally took its course. -
Hi everyone, I am so happy to find this thread. I started with a BMI of 36. I was banded in August, now I am a BMI of 29. w00t! I am excited to hear of how your surgeries went too, Susan and Audree.

I am sorry that you have to wait 6 months with this Dr. I think you should try Spiegel or Spivak too. I agree with Kelin, it will be 100% worth the wait, don't give up!

I was weak, but if I absolutely HAD to, I could have went to work almost immediately. I didn't have to and took 5 days off, which was plenty for me. I sit at a desk and am not required to walk much so very little physical activity needed for my job. I didn't have any of the gas pains in my shoulder that people talk about. Before surgery, I read a post where a persons Dr. recommended an enema the night before surgery to cut down on after surgery gas pains. I used the advice and I truly believe it helped.
