How much can you eat.....
faybie replied to cher3150's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to could eat 1/2 of a sandwich, take off the crust and have the bread too. Now, I can only eat the inside of the sandwich. I can't eat more than one bite of bread at any time now, most times I just don't bother because then I don't have room for anything else. I was always a carb addict and for the first time in my life, I don't really "miss" the bread. -
Do you think Celebs & other famous people have Lapband surgery?
faybie replied to JLB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow! beautiful transition. I think they got married before she lost weight too. -
I am going to have to check out sparkpeople.com. I tried using fitday.com and it just doesn't have some normal food choices that I eat everyday, so it was hard for me to use.

What's the worst thing someone said to you?
faybie replied to annieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Awww, I can relate to every story on here. I just want to give you all a great big hug. Prbrooksie and rroswelltx, My father said hurtful things ALL OF MY LIFE. Even at age 16 when I was 116 pounds he would make fun of how fat I was. Finally at age 33, I went off on him. I told him that the day he made up for all of his parenting mistakes was the day I would let him criticize me again. I proceeded to tell him all of the times he hurt my feelings at that he had no right to talk to me that way. He was flabergasted and had no idea that his comments were so hurtful to me. He apologized and never said another hurtful word to me again. I don't think someof our parents necessarily have the "politically correct" view of how to act and treat family like we have learned to be. Sometimes they just need to be brought up to the 21st century. Good luck! -
I think I took a nap almost every day for the first 2 months while my body adjusted to the small portions of food I was taking in. 2 more pounds down, what a good day it is today!! For those of you just banded don't forget to measure yourself. thighs, calfs and arms as well waist, chest and hips. I lost 7 3/4" in December, what a great feeling that was to be able to measure. When you are having plateaus (while your body is "compacting) and not losing weight, it is nice to see that inches are still coming off!

Welcome Back Jessica, You can now wear Victoria Secret's bras if you want! w000t. That was a good day for me, I missed my "body by Victoria" bras.

Wynonna should so have this surgery. She is so beautiful. I am a big fan of hers from years ago. Speaking of Roseanne, how could you not have results from bypass? That is just funny to me. -
Confusedgirl, I absolutely loved Dr. Spivak and his care and after care. My weight loss has been slower than I expected compared to previous diets, however the major benefit is knowing that the weight is "gone for good". Where all previous diets it came back every time. So, on that note, I am very very happy with my weight loss and I love my band! It was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Please feel free to PM me if you have more questions. Good luck!

If I was Anna Nicole Smith, I would have done this years ago! -
I haven't started any official workout yet, although I am much much more active than I was 6 months ago. I can even keep up with my 2 yr. old.

My DH has a psycological issue with leaving food on the table. I guess it was because he had 2 brothers and if you don't grab food while its there, it will be gone in a blink of an eye. I had a heck of a time training him not to eat my or our kid's food on our plate without asking. I would get up and go to the restroom and come back and my food would be eaten. He would say "Oh, I thought you weren't going to eat that". pfft. LOL. Now he just has an excuse to do what he has always done.

Just Scheduled & A Bit Nervous in Texas
faybie replied to hopeful07's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hopeful, Sorry I missed this yesterday it was very busy at work. No one at my work knows, not even my "at work friends". If anyone notices, I just tell them that I am following a modified weight watchers plan (which is also a portion control program). No one has ever second guessed or questioned my reasoning. -
Hey guys, sounds like you two are doing pretty well. Supergenius, I also found that I had an emotional attachment to food soon after being banded. I was very tight just like Audree and I could barely eat my Soups and my "head hunger" was telling me to go get a cheeseburger and large fries. Luckily, I was strong enough not to do such a thing. Funny though, I never realized I had such a strong voice in my head urging me to eat stuff. However, more than 4 months later that voice is now gone! woo hoo!

Spivak and Spiegal - Tell me more
faybie replied to cpbaby's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Texas Cutie, Both doctors use the surgery center and they have always been wonderfully helpful. You can always call one of the patient advocates there. I have met all three patient advocats. They are all really nice. I think all 3 are banded as well. Good luck! -
Robin, Yea I have noticed for a while that our numbers are the same, although I think you mentioned your height in one of the earlier months' posts and I am a few inches taller than you are. Jo ann is also in the Houston area, we should all get together, I think that would be fun. Oh and of course LadyDi. If you are self pay with Dr. Spivak, it is true that if you lose 50% or more of your goal weight in your first year, your second year of fills is free also. I am looking forward to my 3rd fill as well, even though I can't necessarily eat bigger quantities, I am hungry within 2 hours after eating.
-
Not much you can do, most Drs. require you to be fully healed before a fill, so the first month or so is just for healing not necessarily for losing weight. Just do the best you can getting used to eating slower and eating smaller bites. Once you do get a fill it is definitely easier to stick to the rules 100%.

Welcome Cherg, what great weight loss success you have had so far!
-
I didn't do anything special to fight my "head hunger" so to speak. I have been in therapy for years and years due to alcholic parents, so I knew exactly what I had to do to face the "mental thoughts". I had just never knew they were there before... I can't believe I was trying to convince myself to eat a hamburger and large fries three days after surgery. I could barely get down liquids. I can say that my best tool for fighting my "head hunger" has been the band 100%. Best decision of my life... Good luck!!

LOL. My DH is eating all of the food that I can't and has gained weight. I am making him go on Weight Watchers this month. He is the type of guy that if he doesn't have "guidelines" he will eat everything in sight!!!! Not good for a LB DH. I can eat 4 regular bites before I am full, which is 16 LB bites that is about 1/5 of what I used to eat... so my DH is eating the other 4/5 right now.

Welcome home Audree and Susan! I lost 7 3/4" in December! I love my band!!! A friend of mine is now considering the lap band because of my success, I am so excited for her. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself!!! (((hugs)))

I don't mean people who actually came forward, I personally think there are many famous poeple who havent said a word. What about Nicole Richie, she has lost over 60 pounds and is now anorexic. -
The article stated that any non-carbonated drinks count as water whether caffeinated or not. Thanks for your concerns, I am 100% recovered and in remission!

I was bored and decided to take my measurements. I lost 7 3/4" in December! w000000t!
