  1. I said the EXACT same thing and that is exactly what they think but I just gracefully change the subject if they begin asking details. However, I work with all men so by changing the subjet they won't go back there again. ha ha. My boss is also male and usually wants specific details. Because I said minor female out patient surgery, he didn't even ask. :Banane27:
  2. Very true Gayle. Tim was asking if it was an indication of failure and I personally don't think so, as I can see myself having the same challenges or I wouldn't need the Lap-Band. I really love the dancing bananas. They really crack me up. :Banane27:
  3. Maybe we should start a poll! I wonder how many people deviated even the slightest bit from their liquid diet? hmmmmmmm
  4. I completely understand where you are coming from here. My Dr. is only asking that I not eat carbs then liquid diet for 2 days before surgery. I have been reading about Dr.'s requiring lengthy liquid diets pre-op and was thinking to myself "ha ha, if liquid dieting was that easy, I wouldn't need the band". Obviously I am not a medical professional however I can tell you that I feel exactly the way you do, whatever comfort that gives you.... LOL. Hopefully, the feeling that you aren't out of the norm, but very normal. And I definitely do not think reacting normally is an indication of non-success. Even that fact that you were honest with us about what you ate this week tells me that you are prepared for success, otherwise you would have pretended like you only had liquids like the Dr. ordered!!! :clap2:

    Mean ol' doctor.

LapBandit, I don't know what your PCP's intentions were however, I think you should go on how she made you "feel". Your interaction with her made you uncomfortable and upset therefore it really doesnt matter what she meant. I was looking at your stats in your signature and I was AMAZED!! It hasn't even been 5 months and you have lost almost lost 100lbs!!!!! That is amazing!!! Every person that knows you should be proud of your success!!!! If they aren't, they do not have your best interests in mind. :clap2:

    Never admitted until NOW

Wow. How encouraging to read that I am not the only one with food issues. Food is my crutch. If I have a bad day, I reward myself with a deliciously fattening meal. If I have a good day, I do the same thing. LOL. I have been to counseling for many things in my life, sickness, loss, etc. but I have never ever talked to a therapist about my food love affair. I think after reading this post and with the committment and decision I have made to band, its time to start being honest about it. Thank you foodstampchamp and everyone else that posted their story and encouragement.

    August Band Crew!!!!!

Hi Everyone! I am joining the August bandsters as I am having my surgery on August 30th. :clap2: Hurray! I can't wait. I absolutely love that everyone is sharing their day to day experiences. It is making me nervous and giving me relief at the same time. I am so happy that I found this site. I have been reading for a week non-stop. There is just so much information here and I don't want to overlook a single detail. It took me a good 4 hours to read the entire August bandsters thread. LOL. Clarity and RLittman, I am having my surgery by Dr. Spivak too so it is especially nice to hear that things are going well for you two. Those of you that are getting tired of sweets, have you tried chicken broth, beef broth, V-8, or any other liquid Soup blended, egg drop, stuff like that? Are you not allowed to? Or do they just not contain enough nutrients? I don't really like sweet stuff now pre-band, so I am especially curious. I really had no plans to have any sweet liquids except for in the morning and maybe frozen popsicles. I am so glad to meet all of you! This thread is awesome. ~hugs everyone~ <hugs everyone=""> <hugs everyone=""></hugs></hugs>
  9. Wow. Thank you for your posts. I was trying to decide on which Dr. to use in Houston and this thread has been very helpful. I have an appointment coming up with Dr. Spivak. Bedside manner and follow up care are both very very important to me. I really appreciate those that took the time to post your experiences about your Dr.'s. ~faybie
