Day 5 was yesterday, but I was too tired and sore to make an entry. I was more tired and sore on Day 5 than I have been so far. I also had a very throbbing headache. I didn't take any pain medication this day and only had a few doses of tylenol. I believe the headache was from "coming down" from the pain meds as this is how I normally react to vicodin and loritab. I slept all but about 3 hours yesterday. My husband said that he tried to wake me several times and that he has never seen me sleep so hard. I am normally a very light sleeper and the slightest noise has me O.O wide awake. For breakfast (at about 6pm): I had 3oz of my sugar free, low carb 4oz yogurt cup. each serving has very low sugar because it is made with splenda and a good amount of protein. Slept in between. For dinner (at about 1am): 1.5 pieces of lean cuisine ricotta ravioli I was down to 213 on my home scale today.

O Happy, I just thought of one more thing. I remember reading a post by muffinbirdie. (we all know her right?) There was a stage where she ate and ate and never felt full. Finally, she analyzed what she was eating. She wasn't eating "sugar free" choices and somehow they weren't satisfying her hunger. She made sure to start and buy sugar free options of the food she was eating and the problem was solved. If you need me to find her post regarding the topic let me know and I will search for it again.

Happy, I was 5 days post op yesterday too. 1. Even though you think you could eat a Dbl. Cheeseburger and Fries, this is most likely your "Mind Hunger" talking. I have been talking about having mind hunger on many of my posts. Your stomach is still healing from the surgery, so even though your mind wants a Dbl. cheeseburger, your stomach isnt really ready for it. I can only take in 3 oz at a time right now before I get the heavy pressure feeling in my chest, but my mind wants much more and only knowing that I will be in pain if I keep going is why I stop. 2. I have only lost 5-6 pounds too. I think this is a normal or an above average amount for people 5 days out from surgery. Especially since, if you are like me, your stomach is still bloated and swollen from the surgery.

Update, my pill is unstuck now. It took about 6 hours. I just kept drinking tiny sips. It kept me up all night because I couldn't sleep during the ordeal. From now on I will soak my pills before taking them.... owwww. So I am 5 days post op and I can only take in, whether liquid or mushies, 3oz. at a time. I know this because my sugar free, carb free yogurt cup is 4oz. and I can't finish it before I feel pressure in my chest. If I take more bites thinking I can, the saliva you all talk about starts to gather in my throat.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!! I have two medications that are time released so I can't crush them. One of them got stuck and it hurts sooooooooooo bad. :cry I have just been doing nothing but sipping liquids to get it to pass. I read through the threads and someone suggested on a previous post to soak the time release pills first, so I will do this from now on. I didn't know to soak it and it really really really hurts. I'm sure I will be fine, I found a few people that had similar issues and they were fine, it just took time. OOOOWWWWIIIIEEE.

LOL. I love you guys. I pretty much come here read this thread, update my journal and log off. And I really love it. I was reading someone's journal, and the strangest thing was said. "Four people got banned from LBT" today. I was so clueless that any such hostility even existed on this board. I read a few "good bye" posts and I don't really care to go on. You guys are great, honestly I have no idea what anyone would have to fight about on these forums anyway. Meh. /hugs to the ABC!

Ha Ha Ha. The only thing football ever was to me was a reason to drink beer and eat appetizers! No more fuutbawl for me! -
Wow. Look at the definition around your eyes and your more shapely chin. You are looking great! You go girl!

Those are awesome goals and almost verbatim as what I want for myself, my husband and my 2 gorgeous boys.

I have come to realize that anyone who thinks surgery is the "easy way" doesn't understand the demons, urges and desires we fight. I myself, didn't truly, truly understand it until 1 or 2 days after my surgery, when my mind was telling me I could eat anything I wanted and was urging me to do so with ludicrous cravings. I fought back, it was a hard battle and honestly, it may not be over yet. The good thing is, I recognize it now, where as before, I didn't understand what I was up against.

Today has been a good day so far, my 2 year old jumped in my lap when I wasn't looking, reflexively I guarded my stomach, so he only hit the far left wound. My mom is here waiting for me to be ready to go walking. LOL. I hate it but love it. Mom's are great like that. I took my first real shower today and was very careful with my incisions. My DH used adhesive remover on places where I had adhesive build up from surgery and bandages. I am fortunate, I have a whole box of adhesive remover from when I was undergoing chemotherapy and we had to change my port bandage every 3 days and get the glue off from the tape. He gently placed bandages back over all of my incisions. For some reason, I feel more secure with bandaids over them for now. Emotionally I feel great. I feel like going back to work on Tuesday after the holiday will be just fine. Food on Day 4: morning: 1/2 cup coffee with equal, didnt drink it all. I was hoping this would act as dieretic, but it didnt. Breakfast: 1/2 cup of grits w/slice of cheese melted. Didn't eat it all. Lunch: Packaged low sodium potatoe and green onion soup. Only have to mix 8 oz of water. I first tried adding a scoop of unjury powder to it and it was disgusting, so I threw the first batch out and started over. This was the second time unjury powder was a failure. I need to research this and see what other ppl are doing with unjury powder.

Connie, I am 4 days today too, Congratulations! 1. Make sure you aren't eating too fast. I take one bite every minute or almost a minute. Actually I just lick the spoon, I don't actually take a full bite. I had (and still am) having a hard time slowing down at first, if I catch myself eating too fast the same thing happens to me. 2. I am eating a chewable Vitamin too, I didn't take vitamins before or I would be crushing my old ones to save money. 3. My stomach looks about 7 months pregnant too. Seems like everything is normal for you, just need to slow down and eat smaller bites. I tried eating a 1/2 cup of Soup for dinner last night and I could only eat 1/2 of it so 1/4 cup of soup was my dinner. I still almost felt a PB coming on from just the 1/4 cup. If you feel any kind of pressure between your boobs, that is your signal to stop eating.

Hey guys! 3 days post op. =) I have been reading that you guys are plateauing. I was reading the previous bandsters chat and it seems pretty common to have a weight plateau at this point, but they all felt like their clothes were still getting looser and they were losing inches. Who ever said keep an eye out for NSV was right on the target! I slept 18 hours today! I could not bring myself to get out of bed, but amazingly after I woke up I felt fantastic. Some of the muscles that were hurting me yesterday aren't nearly as sore. A little bit of my swelling has gone down. I have a very weak stomach from having camplobacteria when I was in the military. Its like solmanilla (sp?) but with beef instead of chicken. The drs. told me that its not curable and I will always have a bit of the bacteria in my stomach. Meaning that, I would be super sensitive to bacteria that other people might not even notice. Well, given that, I thought this was going to be a very rough ride for me. It really hasn't, so I am a bit shocked that my body was as receptive to the band as it was. I don't have to for four more days, but I feel like I could go back to work tomorrow if I HAD to. BTW, I am only 3 days out and feel like im starving. I guess my mind is still hungry because I do get the pressure in the chest area between my boobs when I'm full. Funny that my mind is convinced I could eat anything and everything. In a way, that proves that my weight problem is definitely a mental drive to eat not a physical drive to eat.

Surgery day, Surgery was a breeze, I was out before I even knew I went into surgery. However, after I could'nt wake up from the anesthesia. I went to the bathroom asleep, did the barium swallow asleep and my dr. requires you to drink a bottle of water before leaving. I slept through that too. I would take a sip, fall asleep, then wake up, take a sip, fall asleep. I have no idea how long it took me to drink that water. Food on surgery day: 2 1/2 cups of creamy broccoli soup that I found in the organic section(this is the yummiest soup I have had in a long time) small sips of crystal light lemonade small sips of water all day Day 2, This was my most painful day so far The general anesthesia wore off and It was miserable all day. The pain wasn't unbearable, just miserable. I took more than the recommended dosage of the pain meds I think. I look 7 months pregnant. It's kind of cute because for medical reasons I can't have any more children. So I found it adorable that I looked 7 months pregnant for a day. My mom took me for my walk. I held my belly as if I was pregnant and got a few smiles from people. It hurt the most to get up and down from the chair and on and off the bed. I was really hungry all day today. I recognize my full feeling from reading this forum, however if I hadn't have known what to expect, I would have kept eating not realizing my limitations. I had a LOT of gas this day, but not in my shoulder like other people complained about. I would burp about once an hour and it would come from way down the bottom of my stomach and resonate all the way up. He He, by far the loudest and longest burps I have ever done. Food day 2: container of yogurt for breakfast, couldnt finish it all before I got full. no salt added butternut squash soup for lunch, found it in the organic section. (it was sooo yummy but not as good as the creamy broccoli, LOL) Dinner I had what was left of the creamy broccoli soup. It wasn't quite a full serving, so I had a feeling I would be hungry later. evening snack: I only had this because I felt excruciatingly hungry. I made a 3/4 of low sodium chicken broth. I put a bit of mrs. dash in it and heated it in a coffee cup. I sipped it like it was a warm cup of tea on a cold day. I wasnt able to finish it all before I felt full Day 3 I slept 18 hours straight. I haven't done that in a LONG time. I woke up this afternoon and a good bit of my sweeling has gone down. and the pain isn't nearly as bad as it was yesterday. I haven't even taken my pain meds yet and I seem fine so far. For Breakfast: I am having a yogurt cup that I put a half of scoop of unjury powder in and mixed. It does change the flavor, but I guess its ok for now. Dinner: homemade egg salad with 2 eggs, fat free mayo, dill relish and a dash of mustard. I ate about 2/3's of it. Dinner: 1/2 butternut squash soup, but could only eat 1/4 cup. Evening snack: low sodium V-8

My surgery is tomorrow. The nurse at the Dr. office spoke to me last Friday when I finally got the letter from my Oncologist that he has released me for the surgery. I was having a very very hard time on the self induced liquid diet. Just as a standard script she goes "remember to keep eating low carb, then on Sunday night no more red meat, and no food after midnight before the surgery." That was a LOT less restrictive that I was trying to be. I didn't last on the self induced liquid diet, however I did have a liquid breakfast or lunch since I started the liquid phase. I stayed low carb all the way until today and I have been 100% liquids today, even though it is not a requirement. I am very nervous and excited at the same time. I was fine all day up until about 15 minutes ago when I was setting my "Out of Office" on voice and e-mail. I have been browsing the "Before and After Pics" today. It is such an inspiration to see peoples results. I have lost 12 lbs. since my first Dr. visit according to my home scales. Tomorrow I will get the "official" number at the Pre-Op. I have to be there at 7am, which means that my mom and I will leave my house at 6:30am. I pretty much think that I have everything ready. I shopped early for foods and items that I would need. I think I am off to have chinese hot n' sour and egg drop (the liquid part only) for dinner tonight!

Hi everyone, I was banded yesterday. I didn't really have any complicaions other than I couldn't wake up from the anesthesia. I could only open my eyes for very short periods of time. My Dr. requires you to drink a bottled Water very slowly before you can be released. So, LOL, I would sleep, wake up take a sip then go back to sleep. I can sleep in the bed if I have a pillow that I can put next to my stomach. Everything is sore but not too sore. All in all I am in less pain than expected. I read on a few of the posts where a few girls did an enema the night before and it seemed to help with the gas. I did that too, and havent really had any of the gas that you guys have mentioned. I feel a tiny ache in my back (inside my body) on the left side but thats it. I didn't feel like walking but my mom made me! he he, didn't like it at the time but I am glad she did. My DH made me walk when got home from work too, he he, got everyone looking out for me. I am pretty hungry though, I think I am MIND hungry and not body hungry. Yesterday after I woke up, I started remembering all of the places that I didn't visit for tons of food before I was banded. LOL. I could also see where someone would give into eating something they shouldn't. I won't but I can definitely understand it. Thanks everyone for this wonderful section of the forum! everything here helped make my surgery day stress free with a peace of mind. :huggie: to you all. :biggrin1:

Grats to your DH! I posted well wishes to him yesterday in August bandsters!

My company requires me to use mail in order service for my perscriptions. I don't think they have a number that I can call to asked if my prescribed pills can be crushed. Do you think I could just call the local Walgreens? Does anyone have any suggestions?
