hmmmm. Was this guy your surgeon or someone else? Did you have to pay? after reading so many posts, it makes me curious as to who is going light and who isn't... Is the guy who gets $150 everytime you walk through the door the one going light? Just a thought.....

I read this the other day. I don't know if all of you had a chance to read it, but I found it really interesing. I thought it might help all of you guys going for your fills right now... http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=22611&highlight=fill
  4. Dang, that is some heavy stuff you are putting on.... LOL. It's like walking around with a 3 month old baby on your back......
  5. Hijack: Wow Liz, 5 months out and you are almost to your goal! Wow. Dalla, I used the Captial One personal surgery promotion. I found the pamplet in my Dr.s Office. A regular Capital One Branch will not have the information. You will have to fill the app out on-line or call their 1-800 number.

How long was your belly big postop?

I looked an additional five months pregnant after surgery for 2 weeks. It has just went down in the last two days.
  7. LMAO.... you guys are funny. This is a fun thread... I bought an industrial strength scale from Sam's wholesale. I weigh every morning, after tinkle, before shower. It's not electronic, so I "calibrate" it before I step on too. My husband laughs at me when he sees me do this.... I am about 4 pounds heavier with clothes on at the Dr.'s office, so I much prefer my home scale too. LOL.

HopeW, I was late August myself and everyone was talking about how hungry they were just about the time I got banded. I remember thinking...."gawd, I can barely drink or sip soup, I can't imagine actually being hungry". Well..... accept that my "head hunger" tried to control me a couple of times. PeloRojo is right, you are right on target where you should be....
  9. Ya know I have been meaning to get to Fashion bug... this lady had on the coolest shirt the other day so I asked her where she got it and it was Fashion Bug.
  10. I for one hate Target or Walmart plus size clothes. They look great sitting there but once you wash them ONE time, you have essentially wasted your money. They fade, shrink, dont hold their shape, I could go on and on. I hate Lane Bryant because they try and sell you all of these designs that look great on skinny people and just make you look like a fat person trying to look like you can wear skinny people clothes. My favorite place went out of business so I can't suggest that.... =( So....my "new" favorite place is the major department stores. They all have "women's" section that you will not be able to find on your own so I suggest asking. It will usually be on the top floor in the very very very back. (I know this because I walked around for an hour one time too embarrassed to ask for the plus size section, never found it - had to ask anyway). Right now most department stores have their previous season fashions on sale 50% to 75% off. I went two days ago in search of a very important basic black dress that I had misplaced. I have just recently been banded so I browsed the sales but didn't buy anything. However, if I were in need of clothes I would have made out like a bandit there were skirts, shirts, pants, tops, tanks, you name it, all name brands for anywhere between $12 to $60. These were all wash and wear materials that would not need dry cleaning. I have several favorties Vicky V, Karen Bane.... Good luck.

HELP! REALLY FREAKED OUT - question

Good luck with your Dr. appointment. If they end up taking out your gallbladder that is not such a bad thing. I was reading up on it once and it is not uncommon for a person losing weight to develop gallstones. One cool thing is they will use the same inciscions, so no new scar areas if they have to operate.

This is good advice, I remember reading on one of the posts somewhere on this board that women who weren't filled but getting hungry tried very small servings of salt free peanuts and it seemed to help curb their hunger and cravings for carbs. I am finally starting to get the "not so full" feeling everyone has been talking about. So, I will be looking for salt free peanuts soon myself.

    More NSV's

I found a black dress yesterday. Whew! I was able to buy it a size smaller. It's a bit more fashionable too, with its little flare at the bottom. This morning, of course, I put the dress on. I selected a blouse to go over the dress. I put it on and walked to the mirror. The shirt was too big, it looked ridiculous. So, I walked back to the closet and got a second shirt (same size) and looked in the mirror again. The second shirt looked just as bad. LOL. My husband is waiting on me at this point because we carpool. I walked to the closet and got a third shirt, this time a size smaller. It looked great. So, that was my first official "clothes too big" moment. w00t! He He, when I walked out of the bedroom, my husband gave me that "look" that I took too long. I laughed and said I had to try on 3 shirts to find one that wasn't too big. He smiled and said "thats great reason to take so long".
  17. Wow, so its day 13. I can walk at my normal pace now. I can also wear a bra with no problem, yesterday it still hurt. I still cannot eat over 4oz. at a time. The pressure in my chest definitely tells me that it will send it right back up if I dare. I am still staying full for hours and hours. I wasn't even hungry at lunch today, so I only ate about 2oz. I was at lunch with my SIL. She knows but I would have felt bad not eating anything at all. She ate a whole filafl (sp?), fries and pita bread. My favorite dress is missing and I am majorly bummed. It was a basic black dress that I could throw all kinds of shirts over to give it different looks. I am lost without it. I have easily lost 5 or more outfits from my wardrobe. The last time I had it was on vacation in Maine. I checked the suitcase, not there. So, do I go find another one that fits now or wait until I fit into the smaller identical one that I have? hmmmm. I may not even be able to find such a dress, it was so awesome. =( Morning Scale: 210 Food today: coffee w/ 1 equal Breakfast - 1 scrammbled egg with cheese and 1/2 slice of bacon. Lunch - 1/3 of a spanikopita snack - protein cappacino drink Dinner - snack - Excersize:

    Day 12

Well, this past Saturday was my birthday. I was just looking at what I had to eat that day. What a BIG difference! I was discussing with my husband what we would normally do on birthdays and I saved myself probably 3000 calories (what would that be? more than a pound). We usually go to a very fancy restaurant and have a five course meal with bread, appetizers, salad, main course and dessert, not to mention the wine. Not only did I save myself from that but probably saved $130 by not going out. I also usually get cakes from the "dessert gallery" on birthdays in our house. Those cakes run $50 a piece, however they are truly amazing cakes. So a grand totol of $180 savings right off the bat from not obsessing over meals on my birthday. What a nice adjustment. 10 years of that and I have saved myself 1800 bucks just on ONE day a year. Not that this ordeal is in any way related to money, its just an interesting side perk. =) I peeled my steri strips off last night. The nurse said they should come off between 6 and 10 days and they didn't. So, I decided to take them off. Every incision looks great. The largest one of course is my port site. It is not quite as healed as the others. One of my spots doesnt even have a scar it has a small pink spot. Hard to even tell there was an incision at all. I couldn't find my "madera" (I think thats what it is called) for minimizing scar tissue. So I will stop by the store soon to get some of that. I wore a bra to work again today. I may be able to make it through the day with it on. I just have to be sure and sit up straight. If I hunch over at all, it hurts too much. The port site is tender. I wonder how long that continues?........ I was also sick all weekend, so I spent most of it in bed. Sore throat, achy muscles, runny nose, coughing, congested ..... the whole works. I took cold medicine and it didnt help, so today I have taken an allergy medicine. I hope that helps.... Morning Scale: 210 Food today: Breakfast - 4 oz of 50% fat free pimento cheese with a small spoon of fat free mayo. Lunch - Dinner - snack - Excersize:

How many cc's does a 9.75 cm band hold?
  20. I found this site today that has some of the most comprehensive information I have seen yet about the surgery and lap band information "all in one place". http://www.surgery.ch/en/default.asp?ID=2753505 I had read a lot of this information before my surgery, but had to read many websites to get this much information. Enjoy! Oh, and I saw this list hanging in my surgery advisor's office and did a web search on it. http://www.lap-band-surgery.org/the-new-diet.cfm

    OMG.....I had NO idea!

I haven't had a PB yet. Everyone seems to have had one. I guess it is something that happens when you have restriction more than just the band itself.

    Just Banded On 8/07...ouch!

I didn't necessarily loose my desire to eat either like others claimed or the Dr. claimed might happen. However, what I did find was that my desires were my "head hunger" not my body telling me it was hungry. I can't say that pain was that high either, it was mostly soreness as well. I do remember that Day 5 was the worst of them all, maybe it was like my hump day. The next day, Day 6, was totally different. It was hard to believe that I felt so much better the next day. Maybe Day 7 is your "hump" day. Today is Day 14 for me and the only thing that is still sore is my port incision. Your port is actually sewn to your muscle wall, so it makes perfect sense that it would ache the longest. Hang in there, it sounds like everything you are going through is very normal. Just know that the pain will be over shortly.

    No weight loss third week

I think this is a great idea. I am at the end of the month of August so when viewing and sharing with my August bandsters they were all complaining of this at about 3 weeks as well before I even had my surgery. Someone suggested measuring there as well. I did it right away so I have pre-surgery measurements. I have lost more inches than weight since surgery day. I can't explain it, however it has greatly helped me in seeing results. I am results oriented too, so I know exactly how you feel when the scale doesn't move. One of the other things that has helped me is......I look through the "before and after pictures". It helps me to see the successes of others so that I can be inspired by that since I don't have my own experiences to inspire me as much just yet.
