  1. LOL. So true. So true. I am not all Republican or all Democrat. I have voted for both Democrat and Republican presidents. I have typically voted for people based on issues more than political party. I seem to always flip back and forth right between the Democrat and Republican views. Even in Political Science class in college, I ended up right on the line between the two in the survey. I personally think that it takes all types of views, opinions, beliefs, etc. to run our country successfully. I don't have a "warm fuzzy" feeling right now. I'm tired of the war. I was watching Condolezza yesterday. She said "they" all thought Sadam had biological and nuclear weapons and you can't go back in time. My jaw just dropped. It's funny... I play on-line games and chat with people from all over the world. Almost everyone I meet doesn't like USA and when I ask "why" their comment are something like "because you guys think that you rule the world and you don't" or "you are bullies". I get exhausted just thinking about politics right now. Clinton and his "non-sexual relations" with Monica were much easier to handle than Bush's Iron fist. I wish infidelity was the issue we were dealing with at the moment instead.
  2. Wow. So, I am in love with La Madeleine's new crepes. I was in search of a website to help me determine JUST HOW BAD they are for me. I stumbled across the most amazing nutrional calculation website. It allows you to add items to your pantry based on your very specific selections. You can then put them in a recipe, it then calculates the nutritional information of your custom recipe if you want it to. This website is incredible. All I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW! Check it out....... http://www.nutritiondata.com/index.html

    ABC September Chat

Ha. Ha. Sorry everyone..... I posted the first August Bandsters time line and I do have it saved in Excel. I didn't check the forum for a couple of days. If you just want to post your name and update, I will add it to the original list. I think I will make a new thread where we continually update the thread with updates so it doesn't fill up our chat. I will have a complete updated list by the end of the day or tomorrow morning and I will post it under "August Band Crew ???" LOL. I drew a blank... help me think of something...

    Slipped? HELP!

maybe go up to the blue navigation bar and select "search" which is just in the middle and type "slipped" or "slip" and see what comes up. I know people have posted the symtoms of slipage, however I don't remember them. Good luck. I don't think that you slipped just by what you describe because I have seen people post that it took up to 5 fills to reach their "sweet spot". Best wishes to you.

    Another question to ask

During the surgery, they inflate you with air so that the Dr. can see to operate without obstruction. This air sometimes gets traped near the diaphram and causes pain. This is common with any Laporoscopy surgery not just the band. I was told walking was the best way to alleviate the pain.

This statement made me think.......So.... I am suppose to get my fill the week of Oct. 9 and my mother in law comes into town on the 12th... Should I wait a week???? I havent told her and she would think it odd if I only had soup since she has seen me pig out for many many years. Although.... she is not happy with my weight and would most likely support my change 1000%. I am not opposed to telling her, it just hasn't come up.

What to do with too big clothes?

I posted that I will be getting rid of my 20/22's soon and I got a PM request for them. I can't wait to pass them on to her... that way they she doesn't have to buy new clothes for a size she will only be in temporarily. I have sizes of clothes all the way back down to my goal so I don't necessarily need anything in return. All of my clothes are "business professional" and those are very, very expensive to replace several times a year. If no one had sent me a request, I would have taken them to a women's shelter here locally that helps abused women and children get jobs and their life back. I have had 2 children and both times people that I barely knew offered me their maternity clothes to borrow. The first time I had no money to buy them, the second time it was just a bonus. Both times were very much appreciated. So to me its kind of like what goes around comes around and me sharing is continuing the chain, He He, kind of like "Pay Forward" too.

    Governor Perry-What a liar

I was thinking the same thing....where is all of the extra money from the lottery? Also, this could be a rumor because I have not verified it myself, but I heard somewhere that they are taking away our school property tax in Fort Bend County because we have "too much" education money.

    Did you feel like this????

Ha Ha! If I am reading that correctly, now you think your mom eats a lot? Now thats pretty funny. I notice how much people really eat now too, and the sad thing is every single person I notice, eats less than I used to. I must have just really looked like a pig without realizing it... LOL. It's strange, I didn't get the band because I thought I ate too much or because I thought I had emotional attachments to food.... those are just two things I have learned about myself in the last month.
  15. Help! Help! Help! I need some encouragement or support or a slap in the face....something. LOL. Bring it on! Because I can't stop. =( My head hunger is really controlling me right now! Luckily for my sake, I can only eat about 6oz of whatever I am craving. I am almost 3 weeks out and can eat just about anything I want, if I eat very slowly and chew chew chew. I was told to stay away from beef for the first month by my doctor. I have definitely done that. So........ I am only eating about 6oz's a meal but I am eating some breads, pastas and potatoes just like before banding. I have been recording it in fitday and it doesn't go over 1100 calories. But for some reason, it really, really feels like I am cheating or something and I feel completely out of control. I am not gaining weight but I'm not losing either and I didn't expect to lose at this point really because I haven't had my first fill yet. However, even though I haven't lost weight in a week and a half, I have definitely lost inches in my hips and waist. When do I get PB's over food? After I have had my first fill? It would be nice in a way that even though I crave it if I couldn't have it at all without complications or a PB. Is my out of control feeling maybe mental because I am not eating diet foods? Has anyone else felt like this? hmmmmm.... maybe I am having a food related anxiety attack.....

    Did you feel like this????

A couple of things come to mind that remind me of myself when I read your story. My husband and I did not think that I ate very much, either. I am not even one month out now and when we go to restaurants, I order grilled fish or grilled chicken dishes that I used to eat. Now, I eat about a fourth of it and take 3/4's home for my mom or left overs. It is hard for me to fatham that I used to eat ALL of THAT and bread!! You may realize that you ate more than you thought you did, maybe not, your words just reminded me of how I thought before the band. I also deep down inside knew that I had some emotional attachments to food however I didn't really want to address them "out loud". The band has helped me fight those issues in just the short time I have been banded. I am not saying that I am cured by any means, but recognizing the "real" issues is suppose to be the first step and that is where I feel like I am. So by saying that about myself, thinking that you could have eaten less and not be in your situation now is easy to for you or your friends to say, however it may not be as easy as you or everyone thinks.

He. He. Yea, I had a bit of an unrealistic goal too, although my clothes are looser, my blood pressure has dropped out of the critical range and I feel better....... so no real complaints that I didn't meet a scale victory.

    Females Only:Anyone have an IUD???

OMG what an A$$!!!!!!! I cannot stand male GYNs. It is hard for me to accept that a man could ever understand what we go through from what? age 13 to 55. I would say 20+ years of dealing with something happening to your body would make you an expert on the subject when it comes to your body. I would get a second opinion and not mention the first attempt to the other doctor, sometimes they don't like to disagree with another doctor. I also have the mirena, and I had horrible side effects with any type of pill including the low dosage ones. The side effects just weren't worth all of the agony. I have only had the mirena since April and my GYN explained that the hormone release from it is only in your cervix and does not get into your blood stream like the pill. I was satisfied with that explanation and have found no evidence against it. I still have the spotting, bleeding though. My SIL has one also and she warned me about the possibility of prolonged spotting so I was prepared. She had hers inserted with absolutely NO PAIN. Mine hurt like H E dbl hockey sticks, however a pap smear hurts me too. I think I have a hyper sensitive cervix so definitely not the norm. I also had cervical cancer when I was younger and they said the extraction wouldn't hurt and I was laid up in bed for 3 weeks. Good luck on your second opinion. =)

    Governor Perry-What a liar

=( I'm sorry to hear all of this. Funny (well not really) that they announce what the give but don't announce what they take away. I for one believesupport the public school system in Texas. I was under the impression but never really checked that teachers did very well in our area and in Texas. I keep hearing about millions and millions of unspent dollars in the education budget, however I have only been listening with one ear. If you start a petition or want me to send a letter as a taxpayer just send me a PM. Because I am such a busy professional, I am a member of several advocate groups that keep me informed on certain issues I believe in. They send me sample letters on issues that I support, I hand re-write them and send them off. This allows me to be an active supporter without having to follow every detail of the progress. I know its taboo to say this if you are from Texas but I think we have too many Republicans in power right now, it needs to be more balanced IMO.

I haven't had a problem with not drinking between meals... At first I would reach for the glass out of "habit". I do get dry, thirsty and count down the minutes until I can drink, however I have never really just HAD to have a drink. It was more just uncomfortable thirst, wishing I could drink something. I probably obssess more over pasta and bread than I do not being able to drink with my meal. LOL.

    Ready?

WOW! I completely agree >< Gayle, You have had such awesome results. You must be very proud and have a new lease on life...down 15 pts on BMI is just awesome!!!! My PCP was my first of a long string of turning points. My late father had high blood pressure all of his life with a triple by-pass at the young age of 32 (at normal weight) and my blood pressure was getting dangerously high. My PCP just looked at me and said "If you want to stay alive you need to lose weight". Just in the small amount of weight I have lost so far starting with pre-op diet, my blood pressure is no longer in the critical range it is in the "high-normal" range. My PCP is very supportive and proud of my decision.

I have been eating a .5 to 1 oz snack of unsalted peanuts or a small teaspoon of parmesean cheese. I like both of these and they are pretty much keeping me from "losin' it" between meals. That and lots and lots of water (when I am suppose to I don't drink during meals) 1 scrambled egg in the morning seems to keep me full until lunch much better than yogurt, fruit or oatmeal. To mix it up I will add some lowfat cheese and a spoon of salsa, make deviled eggs or boiled eggs with morton's lite salt.

Need Advice- 1 !/2 weeks post op

You really need to call your Dr.s office about this one. Some dr.'s put the band in slightly filled. They may have done this and you need some fill taken out if they did.
