Thanks for this post, I read it but didn't subscribe and I was having a heck of a time finding it again! Whew, so glad I did.

My food is unstuck..... I think.... I will know for sure when I sleep tonight. If so, it took more than 48 hours. I go tomorrow for a barium swallow to make sure everything is ok. I'll keep you posted. Thank you for the well wishes. =)

Wow. TOM that model is not attractive in any way, IMO and actually looks sickly. If I could look at rib bones without barfing, I would have been a Dr. Personally, plus sized models that are 14/16 are an insult to me. You can buy sized 14/16 clothes in a regular clothing store and still look similar to how the style is suggested on a skinnier person. However, at sizes 20 to 28 you are not gonna look like that size 14 "so called plus model" in the same clothes. I consider a size 14/16 to be "full figured" not plus sized. When I was a 14/16 and when I am again, LOL, you would not/will not see me shopping in a plus sized store. I know my body well and can buy "XL" regular sized clothes that look attractive on me, however I have yet to find actually "plus sized clothing" that doesn't make me look like I am wearing a mumu.

GEMom, Grats on the NSV that is awesome!!!!!! It doesn't matter how many pounds or how slow you take them off if you are 2 sizes down....that is what counts! not to mention how you feel and the compliments from your husband! whoooo hooooo.....awesome! Spunky, My thoughts go out to you with your new life and family challange. I am a 2x cancer survivor myself, so I know how stressful this life challange can be. My husband and mother are the reason I am here today, not my treatments from MD Anderson or my Oncologists'. Since my recovery, food "had" been my comfort as I realized how fortunate I was to be alive. Now, I have many comforts, LBT and ABC being two of them. Please come here and vent or send me personal PMs if you need to bend an understanding ear. We are here for you!!

Kutia, Hun, I know EXACTLY how you feel and I am sure most of us here do too, however the greatest thing about the band.... Is you won't backslide like we all used to. You can eat your ice cream and your chips, but its not a gallon or a whole bag! You will eventually lose weight whether you want to or not! I think 40 pounds down is incredible, especially knowing that it is gone FOREVER, unlike before! Even though you can't see it yourself, for someone on the outside looking in, you have down fabulous so far. Everyone has their bad days and you are entitled to them or you wouldn't be human nor would you have chosen the band!!! So.......have your two scoops of ice cream and not the gallon, one enchilada and not 4, one taco and not 4, small plate of spaghetti and not 2 huge ones! LOL. you get the point..... In the end........ that 40 pounds you have lost is gone for good! That is how this time it is different! You go girl!

BTW, We have lost a running total of 1006 pounds!

It was both. It was what I ate, how fast I ate and how little I chewed. Honestly, I didn't even realize what had happened until 4 hours later. It was half of a cheese burger with only one piece of the sourdough bread. So the whole pieces of beef are probably what is stuck. I can still feel it go up and down my throat as I swallow today. =( I guess this is a good lesson to learn "before" I get a fill because it would be much worse then. I called and spoke to the nurse and she said there is nothing I can do but drink as many warm liquids as I can, take Vitamins and be sure to get Protein drinks in. NO solids until it clears. I am scheduled for a barium tomorrow just to make sure there is no damage to the esophogus. I just hope posting about my mistake keeps you guys aware and from making the same one.

I was on liquids all day today and mushy mac and cheese for dinner (1/4th of a serving left over from my 2 yr old). I am still stuck and it hurts with every swallow. I drank hot tea all day and had hot soup for breakfast and lunch. I would say it feels a "fraction" better and thats it. I will see how it goes tomorrow. If it doesn't get better soon, I will become very worried. Pebbles, I haven't had my fill yet either. For everyone who has had their fill and is resuming weight loss, Congratulations!! That is great news to hear!

I want to be a loser! (Oshkosh, WI)
faybie replied to Red wine lover's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Bill, If you are trying to get insurance to pay for it, I would call your insurance company and see what is required by them to pay for the WLS. For example, if they require a dietician interview and sessions and you need a recommendation from your PCP for them, then ask him for that, not necessarily his opinion if you need the surgery or not. IMO, "YOU" are the only one who will be certain if you need the surgery. Skinny people and unsupportive Dr.s are going to tell you to just diet and excersize, hence the call you received from the Dr.'s nurse. You qualify for the surgery with your BMI and sleep apnea, alone, not including your higher percentage of getting Type II diabetes and possibly higher blood pressure. So there is no question that the surgery will benefit you. If you are 100% certain that you are ready to move forward, I think you should approach the Dr. and tell him this is a decision that you have made and you need his recommendation to continue. Good luck. -
Welcome Lisalee, I adore this site as well, so I know exactly how you feel. Have you found your september 2006 bandsters thread? It is where you share your experience with people in the exact same phase that you are going through. I found my August Bandsters to be irreplacable. There are over 110 of us in August 2006 alone. The best feature I found on this site is the "search". It is in the middle of the blue navigation bar on top. I just had a crisis myself yesterday and the info I found was priceless to help my situation. Welcome lisalee!

Oh guys I really screwed up! I was on a plane yesterday including the airport and didn't eat for 7 hours, maybe 8. I was sooooo hungry. We picked up dinner and without realizing I must have just scarfed it down. I only ate about 8 oz. or less but I realize now that I must have swallowed most of the bites whole. I was soooo hungry. The rest of the evening, everytime I swallowed and even still now, I felt a tight restriction in my throat. Now the location is sore and raw. In the middle of the night, I woke up to some food unlodging, however the restriction in my throat is still there. I imagine I still have more food stuck. I have put myself on warm liquids only until my esophagus heals. I thought I would share my experience so that others are more careful during long trips and don't put themselves in the position I put myself in.

Congrats! great job! Keep up the good work.

Awwwwwww, Pebbles I am soooooo sorry, you are having the worst luck of us all. =( I wish you the best and hope that you recover before your trip later this month.

Hey gals, I am on vacation in Outer Banks, NC that's why I haven't on the boards much. I flew here so whoever asked about flying, you will be just fine. I will say that I fit in the seat much better than I did two months ago. =) My September goal was really ridiculous. I wanted to be around 199 for my trip here, I got down to 207, which was 12 pounds for the month. I am happy with that and my October goal is onederland! =) So 8 pounds. I am soooooo addicted to my scale and I am going crazy here without it. I don't have a fill and there is food Everywhere here. I feel like I am grazing all day long. I wish I knew how much I weighed so I would know if I needed to be careful. At meals, I am definitely not eating much. For example, one slice of pizza, or one hotdog no bun with a few doritos. My best friend definitely noticed that I am not eating very much and she asked me if anything was wrong. She is used to seeing me "pig out". Keep up the good work everyone. By the way, whoever said they only lost 8 pounds, I still think that is very good weight loss. It is recommended to only lose 2 pounds a week. Everyone on here knows how you feel about wanting "more" gone. I visualize the skinny me all the time. I keep teasing my friends that next year I won't "float" in the pool so easily. ha ha ha.

Anyone else out there that was or is very restricted one month post op? I haven't had a fill yet. All along I have been complaining about how restricted I feel, while reading everyone else's complaints about how "not restricted" they feel. I had two small bites of a ham and cheese sandwich this afternoon. It wasn't the first time I have eaten wheat bread. At work, I have half or fourth of a tuna sandwich on wheat often, however I have never eaten crust. Those two bites have been sitting so heavy in my chest for 3 hours. The bites weren't even good enough to want to be full on so little so long. =( On friday, I ate 1/8th of my lunch, literally and was full for 5 hours. Not necessarily that I am complaining, I expected to eat less the rest of my life, I just don't see many people who have had the same experience. I would like to hear from anyone who has had a similar experience.

Poll - Democrat or Republican?
faybie replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I always suspected they used whatever methods they wanted to use anyway, regardless of the official "laws" of the Geneva Convention. Hmmmm, Maybe I watch too much television, i.e. 24. LOL. -
wonderkidsmom, I wanted you to know that I was thinking about you. I don't have a lot of experience in this matter, however you are in my thoughts. I think LadyK and MarySue33 said exactly what I was thinking even though my thoughts would not be based on experience however they expressed what I was feeling about your situation. I wish you continued courage.

Boo Boo Kitty, I am glad you are feeling better about your NSV now. I agree, this will be one of those funny stories that you tell for years to come! Keep up the good work!!!! -
Have you checked out your October bandits thread? It is where all of your October bandits share your experience together. I have posted the thread for you. http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=23737&highlight=october+band good luck! It was the best decision I have ever made, well about my health. he he.

Wow, thanks for the link. What I thought was 4oz. of meat was more like 2oz. I can't eat anything the size of my palm. I can only eat the amount about half the size of my palm, especially meat. I don't have large hands either really.

My 5th day after surgery was the worst. All pain except my port area completly faded by day 10. I couldn't wear an underwire bra for about 12 days instead, I wore those fitted camisoles. I am still tender at my port if I press and poke on it. However, now at one month post op it is harder to locate my port than previously. During the first 3 weeks I tought the port pain was never going to go away, however it eventually did, without notice.

Btw, the last time I flew, I needed an extender belt. Tomorrow, I fly for the first time since surgery. After reading your post again for inspiration, I am now excited to see how the airplane seat belt fits!!! =)

Still considering lap band surgery
faybie replied to lking's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome, I have been using this site for more than two months daily and I still find new things everyday. There is so much information here. Look for your scheduled surgery month of bandits. It is nice to talk to people who are going through exactly what you are as well as learn from "veterans". Also, search is very helpful. Go up to the blue navigation bar and in the middle you see "search", click on it and in the drop down box type anything you need to research. Your dr.'s name, ha ha I had to look up "trolling" anything you see and don't know what they mean. Oh and for inspiration, I look at before and after pictures almost daily. When I didn't have any significant results myself, I would use others results to see what it would be like eventually. Great inspiration thread while you are just getting started. Welcome and good luck! -
Nice, Nice! grats on the NSV!!!!!
