Wanting to get back on track
LollyMoe replied to meandmyweightloss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that almost anyone can have some "down" time and need to re-group. January is always a little depressing to me. Perhaps if you tried journaling for a day or two you could see in writing what/why you are feeling un-motivated. Set yourself a small goal and what it will take on your part to get to that goal. When go for a bigger one and so on and so on. Good luck. -
Congrats. You have started a new journey now.

Tell hubby that it isn't safe to glue a machine back. It's a accident in the making. Besides, you deserve a new one. -
Dr. Miles or Dr. Schmitt patients
LollyMoe replied to Savedbygrace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't come to the January group meeting due to a big family wedding. Can you imagine the nerve of this family planning a wedding on my group day???? LOL. Oh well, I'll bite the bullet this month and I hope to see some of you in February. If anyone goes, maybe they will post a report on anything interesting. -
Who stayed overnight and why?
LollyMoe replied to Chele6378's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It was a insurance requirement for me to stay overnight. Since I had a hard time waking up, I probably needed to stay even if I thought it was not necessary. -
Tips for not drinking after eating?

I love Blue_Eyes's suggestion. Thanks. -
I'm over-thinking it. Please clarify for me.

I love the hour glass explanation! Great. Maybe I can now make my mother understand what it's all about. -
3 weeks out and my very first stuck situation
LollyMoe replied to Diamondgirl81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lauren: Sorry to hear about your stuck episode. Been there, done that with a banana. for some reason, my body doesn't like them right now. Maybe later on it will. Yay on the weight loss. Jennifer: Crystal lite to add to your Water. It comes in all sorts of flavors. -
Biggest Loser - new season
LollyMoe replied to nfl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, I'm in. My recumbant (sp?) bike sits in my LR and I look at the dust collecting on it. My ortho doctor said for me to ride it during each commercial in the beginning and work up to longer periods with it. I also promise to start back to YMCA and the pool/machines. -
stomach bug in the house...scared
LollyMoe replied to Marine mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, you have your doctors word that everything is okay. Now, make sure you do what you can to stay well yourself. Good luck. -
am I eating too much????
LollyMoe replied to JennyG1971's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein will help will the hunger. I don't think you have done anything to screw things up yet. Just follow what your doctor or nut tells you about food/exercise and you won't go wrong. However, I would ask that doctor if he has had lapband surgery and what is he basing his opinion of you not being hungry on????? Everyone is different and if you read this forum enough, you will realize the differences big time. Don't let your doctor "group"you in with everyone else. He should be listening to you and what you know about your body. -
Fantastic news! I know you have a way to go but this is wonderful for you now. It gives you so much encouragement and it helps others to know that everyone is different with their own weight lost. I lost 68lbs in four months and I have NEVER in my life lost that much weight in such a short time. I too have a ways to go but I'll get there. Again, CONGRATS. Give yourself three pats on the back.

6 days post op, paranoid!
LollyMoe replied to missalissa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sure you can do it! You are normal so don't worry. As your taste buds re-awaken and the swelling goes down, you enter bandster's hell. This is the most challenging time for you. Until you get enough fills and restriction, it is up to you to refrain from over eating. Everyday your band & body will tell you something new. Just when you think you have it totally under control, it will throw a monkey wrench into the whole situation. Follow your doctor's orders and hang in there. You can make it! -
Is there a DPA? Diet Pepsi Anonymous?
LollyMoe replied to Melinco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a Dt Dr. Pepper freak. I drank a 2 liter everyday. When I made the commitment for surgery, I thought carefully about whether I could give them up or not. I wasn't sure I could do it but I have, much to my surprise. I don't even think about them anymore or crave them. Some reasons that have helped are 1) the manufacture of the band states that soda of any kind is not good for the band. 2) It will cause band erosion. 3) Artificial "stuff" in the colas aren't good for us. 4) My doctor says NO, not ever again. 5) I paid too much for my surgery and went thru too many insurance hoops to risk it over a soda. 6) If I couldn't commit to this, how was I going to make it thru all the others ups/downs. That's why I don't drink it anymore but to each their own. -
I have a 14cc band. My first fill was 4ccs. Presently at 7.5ccs with no restriction yet. Going for 5th fill on the 14th.

Got more than what I wished for....2nd fill
LollyMoe replied to we3601's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They always tell me to come straight in if I can't drink my coffee the next morning after a fill. I don't know what I would do if I had to deal with your symptoms. Hang in there and good luck. -
If I knew pre-op what I know post-op, I would have....
LollyMoe replied to warriors_journey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too would have practiced smaller bites, eating slower, drinking more water. I would also have ask more questions. -
In tears last night due to chest pains
LollyMoe replied to Melinco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing pain. It's no fun! I had a problem tonight with some chicken. For some reason, my dear 89yr old mother will not be quiet when I'm eating. She keeps talking & asking questions and then gets mad if I don't answer. Well, this in turn causes me to be careless about my bites/chewing and the amount I'm eating. The first thing I know, I am having serious PAIN, then on to slimming. Not fun at all. The only thing I can do is try to be more careful until she moves into her new apartment in a senior citizens hi-rise. She will move around the middle of the month, thank goodness. I love her dearly but sometimes it's so difficult. -
Is there anyone who was on the C-Pap machine prior and after surgery that is no longer on it? How did you determine that you didn't need it anymore?:blushing:

I have heard & seen this also while nursing on a psych unit for many years. I think people have to decide what they are going to let control their lives..... Some people are stronger in personality than others.

Band and bungee good or bad?
LollyMoe replied to AlienBandit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you crazy? Couldn't you find a safer sport? All kidding aside, first of all, check with your doctor and second, be careful. -
Is your goal weight still considered 'overweight'?
LollyMoe replied to juliansmom2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5' 3". Right now, my goal is to keep losing and get healthier. I am not going to set a firm goal. When I get where I'm happy, I'll know it. -
What Is ur calorie Intake?
LollyMoe replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I manage about 900-1,000 cal per day. My doctor wants me to count my protein, carbs, fat intake. I average about 40g of protein, 15g of carbs, and 5g of fat. I make sure I get my water in too. -
Valentine Day Challenge?
LollyMoe replied to LollyMoe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay Guys/Girls, it's time to record your progress. I'm down 2 lbs. Only 10 to go. I don't plan to put up a comparsion chart of everyone's progress. If someone else wants to do it, it's okay by me. I figured we would just check in with our news each week. I will pull this thread up every now and again so it won't be hard to find. -
Yipee! That's great news. I know you are doing the happy dance!
