Weight Watchers Question
LollyMoe replied to Stacy1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask your doctor or nutritionist to help you figure out your point system. DON'T tell WW people that you have the band. They aren't very friendly about it. -
Well, I have to confess. During the last part of December and all of January, my weight would go up/down by four pounds. I am doing pretty much everything I usually do but I'm sure there are some things that I could be doing to help myself.:sifone: I had refused to change my ticker b/c I didn't want to see that gain but I did change it tonight. Gosh 4 lbs up is a real bummer for me. It makes me so mad at myself and it's depressing too.:huh2: So, starting tomorrow, I am going on a liquid diet for a few days and then soft for a day or two before getting back to solids. I am also going to chart my intake and up my calories from 900 cal per day to 2,000 per my BMR results. Maybe I haven't been eating enough and my body thinks it's starving. Who knows?:frown: Please wish me luck and I'll consider any advice given.

I must be weird b/c Chinese food doesn't bother me at all. Now, I don't eat any rice or noodles but that is b/c I choose not too. Most chicken is fine for me and I love hot/sour soup. I don't eat anything breaded either. Four generations of women in my family eat out at least once a month together. I let the other women eat all the things I choose not to eat. So far, so good.

Dr. Miles or Dr. Schmitt patients
LollyMoe replied to Savedbygrace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Veronica had a PS "body sculpturer" as a guest speaker back before the holidays. He showed a lot of slides and was very informative. Can't remember his name but his office is at Brookwood but he does surgery at St. Vincent's East all the time. You could ask Veronica who he was. Fordgal, please keep us informed. Especially about Viva. I have it too. -
I feel it during/after a fill sometimes. I also feel my port at night sometimes.
-
I eat deli chicken almost everyday. Mostly b/c it's high in protein and easier than cooking. White chicken doesn't always like me but deli meat is okay.

Do you FEEL fat????????
LollyMoe replied to esv2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been obese all of my adult life but I have never "felt" fat or thought I was fat until I would see a picture of myself. Then I would go into complete denial by telling myself that I don't feel that fat. It wasn't until my health started to break that I felt fat. My self image has always been strong. I don't judge myself or others by their weight. Instead I judge myself & others by behaviors of love and kindness towards self & others. I am working on improving my health and the weight loss is a side effect of having surgery. -
Yep, been there, done that. One day I can eat eggs and cheese and the next I can't. Sometimes, chicken is hard too. I'm tighter in the a.m. than at night too. Makes no sense but at least you're not alone.
-
You can eat anything before the fill but yo go on liquids for a day or two after the fill. Good luck.

I was like SDH said in the beginning. I was advised to get the stool softner, eat Fiber One cereal when I moved to solids and a peeled apple in the afternoons. My bowels are fine now as long as I do what was advised. Everyone is different.

My doctor says NO ALCOHOL for a year! Call your doctor for some meds. -
Need a good protien shake to keep me full.
LollyMoe replied to neesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Atkins Advantage shakes are tasty and have high protein count. Walmart has them or Sam's carries them by the case. I prefer Vanilla in most things and I want it really cold. -
Being converted to gastric bypass......
LollyMoe replied to ashleyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have already posted once on this subject but I can't get you out of my mind. I am worried about you. Please, please don't get a gastric bypass done at your age. Get another doctor (not a friend in the Army), take your journals to him/her, go to a support group. DO everything you can to make this band work. You want to be there for your child and I'm afraid you are heading down the wrong road with this idea. You didn't put the weight on overnight and you can't take it off overnight. Your doctor is not helping you. It isn't his body that will have to suffer all the side effects. What kind of a doctor would even suggest this surgery before exploring every possible means of success. Sounds like he is knife happy. As someone else posted, a short time ago you were complaining about eating junk food, stress, the baby, etc. You aren't doing what you are suppose to do and that's why you are failing. It's your fault....not the band. Please re-vamp yourself and start again. You may save your own life if you do. -

1) Get a second opinion from a civilian doctor. One that does this type of surgery all the time. 2) Be prepared to experience a huge organ change that causes chronic diarrhea. 3) Be prepared for dumping syndrone 4) Be prepared to take supplements for the rest of your life 5) You HAVE to drink 64oz of water everyday 6) It is not reversible ever. Is weight loss that important to you??? 7) You cannot have some cancer treatments 8) Be prepared to re-gain the weight (2 out of 5 people do) 9) My friend was told "no more pregnancies". Not sure if this is true. 10) Pray about it, think carefully, give your band another chance and do everything you can to make it work. 11) Civilian insurances pay for this surgery....what makes you think your new one wouldn't. 12) What does your hubby think about it? -
Oh sweetie, you will KNOW when something is stuck or you are eating too fast, or you didn't take small enough bites. The pain between your breasts will let you know in a NY minute. You will think you are having a heart attack! Don't try to drink anything thinking it will help...it will only make it worse. Take deep breaths, bend from the waist several times and hope it passes. Papaya tabs will help too sometimes. Don't make yourself vomit. You will probably have some slimming too. Sometimes, you might burp and you'll get some relief. The nice thing is that the pain will go away as fast as it came when the food passes thru. Good luck. I hope you never have to experience this feeling.

Is this what they call "bandster hell"
LollyMoe replied to nurseab24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is real important to follow your doc's directions during this healing time. Now is when it is mostly up to you & not your band to curve your eating, get in your protein, and drink your water. Walking is good too. Don't be so hung up on weighing right now. The weight will start to come off if you're doing what you are suppose to do. Good luck. -
Most mornings I drink a shake. If I wait until around 9a.m., I can eat cereal or a scrambled egg with cheese. I'm tighter in the a.m..

LollyMoe replied to Claudean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's just great news. I know you are happy over the weight loss but just think about the meds....that's the best news out of all of this. -

Haven't heard of this happening. Hope you are better. Let us know what they decide and do. -
What is happening to me? OMG!
LollyMoe replied to Phranp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try drinking hot tea. It will help the pill melt faster. In the future, cut it up or buy chewable. -
i need a refresher...high protein foods
LollyMoe replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Erin, be careful with the bananas as they can be constipating. However, eating a peeled apple each day will help with that problem if you have it and adds fiber to your diet. This is a little chart that I cut out of a magazine. It was done by Betsy Tower, whoever she is. It is done in a prymid(sp?) shape. Maybe it will help you too. Food:------ Gms of Protein 1cup chicken-- 43gms 5oz salmon-- 42gms 1cup turkey-- 41gms 1c. canned soybeans-- 29gms 3oz raost beef-- 26gms 1c. NF cottagecheese-- 25gms 3oz ground beef-- 22gms 3oz ham-- 18gms 1 cup lentils-- 18gms 1c. Beans canned-- 15gms 1 c plain low-fat yogurt-- 12gms 1 cup milk 1%-- 8gms 8oz peas, canned-- 8gms 1/4 block tofu-- 7gms 1oz cheddar cheese-- 7gms 1oz nuts-- 7gms 1 large egg-- 6gms 1 tsbp peanut butter-- 4gms 1/2 c ice cream,SF-- 3gms I have this chart posted on my fridge. Hope it helps. -
I went for my 5th fill last week and b/c I had lost 9.5 lbs in four weeks, she would not do another one. She said that she was afraid that she would block me too much and to come back in six weeks. I presently have 7.5ccs in my 11cc band. Since I am having some minor stuck episodes, I am alright with decision after thinking about it. We'll see what six weeks will bring.

Valentine Day Challenge?
LollyMoe replied to LollyMoe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not losing and not gaining! Darn it, I had hoped to pull off at least 10 pounds by the 14th. Just have to work harder, I guess. -
Mission trip to Haiti...questions...
LollyMoe replied to krstjump03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
emjay has given you some really good advice. I hope you will take it. Your compassion is wonderful but I suggest that you find a ways & means to help from a home base right now. Water, sleeping quarters, bathrooms, & food is in very very short supply. You have to consider your own healing and health right now.
