I was banded on 8/11 around 10:30 a.m. and went home on Wednesday morning about 10:30 a.m. No pain meds in hospital or at home. I have some liquid Lortab but haven't used it. I seem to have a high tolerance for pain. I had more trouble with gas than anything.

b9404: You are not alone. There are two many people here that are willing & able to reach out to help you. Just let us know when you need someone. I'm much older than you but I'm experienced and willing to help. I noticed you mentioned WW. Don't know if it's the same everywhere but generally they are really down on WLS. So keep mum about your surgery! Let us know if you need to talk.

So lucky to have a band :)
LollyMoe replied to mellabella78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yippee! I can't wait until I can walk a lot. Between my bad legs and my breathing problems, I can't walk much yet but I'll get there someday. I'm so happy that you had a nice day and they will only get better as the weight comes down. -
Have a protein shake. It will keep you from waking in the night and being hungry. Everyone is different. If it persists, call your doctor.

Why doesn't the band (by itself) cause restriction ???
LollyMoe replied to slpcat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the Realize band and my doctor told me that there is no fluid in my band but I might feel some restriction because of my own anatomy. Everyone one is different, he said. Some feel it and some don't. I can tell I have some restriction late at night or early in the morning. A little something warm helps me. -
Some people are hungry right away and others aren't for several days. Personally, I wasn't until two weeks had passed. I think a lot of it is "head hunger" instead of real hunger. Drink some broth or eat some jello. It helped me.

Can't relate to a flipped port but I am so happy to hear of your weight loss. That is so terrific. Keep it up. You'll be to goal before you know it.

Excited/happy finallly!
LollyMoe replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Erin, do everything you can to enjoy your senior year. It's suppose to be the best year of all. You deserve to be a happy fulfilled young lady. Good luck and have fun. Oh, don't tell about your surgery. Just keep losing and keep them wondering. -
I have a problem with my legs and my breathing. My PCP has recommended that I do water walking until my weight comes down and my breathing gets better. Hubby and I are planning to join the YMCA which has a pool and a workout room. I can't go but 2-3 times a week due to other responsibilites but that is better than nothing. I am told that lap walking is very good. I sure hope so.

Awful night last night
LollyMoe replied to audreysmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No Motrin! Gives you a ulcer, according to my doctor. He says to take liquid Tylenol. You might have the flu or maybe something is stuck. If it isn't relieved soon, go to the ER. Don't fool around with it. -
Ughhhh ...when does the burping stop?
LollyMoe replied to kittkat2009's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to tell you but it doesn't go away for some people. I am a month out and am still doing it. Not as much as I was but it's still there. At least now I can feel it coming and am prepared for it. My neighbor is 4 months out and she still does it too. -
2 questions .. Time of the month and constipation
LollyMoe replied to sweetkissez42061's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My neighbor swears by the Atkins Advantage shake. It has 15g of Protein and 3gm of Fiber. She drinks two a day. Says she get her protein and fiber in all at the same time. Personally, I tried the drink but didn't care for the taste. So I eat a small bowl of Raisen Bran Cereal in the morning and in the afternoon, I eat 5-6 Triscuit crackers. The ones with Rosemary and Olive Oil. This combo works for me well. No more problems. -
From the depths of hell to living off the grid.
LollyMoe replied to kl8nkelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! What an experience. I'm so sorry that you had to go through of all it. My doctor wanted me to check with my PCP and have any pills that were larger than a M&M change to liquid or a smaller pill. He did change me to liquid potassium and another B/P that is smaller. I don't have any problems with my meds. I didn't have to take the pain med that was ordered, which was liquid Loritab. As already stated, please be careful about breaking/crushing or opening any pills without consulting your pharmacy. They will know best and easier to reach than your doctor. Good luck in your future. -
insanity:eating candy
LollyMoe replied to Tranquility's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a month out on this journey and it's easy for me to say "I'll never let this happen to me". However, I'm also smart enough to realize that those words could well be my downfall someday. I'm a retired nurse and therefore know all the pros & cons of good eating, junk eating, etc. I also know the road to failure. Been there, done that, with other diets. It's not the eating that is the issue here. It's BEHAVIOR. Simple as that. We have all undertaken a journey to better health and of course, weight loss. What does it take to get where we want to be? Hard work, sacrifice, sometimes hunger, and major behavioral changes. Life isn't easy and the band isn't magic. It's a tool to use to make changes....changes which should be good ones for us. It takes a major overhaul of your life to meet the requirements you set for yourself when you began all of this journey. It's like cleaning out your closet...off with the old and on with the new. You have to change old habits, find new good habits. Don't sit around being bored at night. That's a straight road to failure. Find a hobby to keep you busy and your thoughts off of food. T.V. is your enemy! It's nothing but food commericals. Since you're a teacher, you are very familiar with lessons plans. Make yourself a lesson plan for your own behavior and habits. Teach yourself new patterns to follow. Find ways to change your evening routines and don't even buy the candy. Why would you buy it anyway? It's a subliminal suggestion to eat it later. Change isn't easy but it can be done. If you can't do it by yourself, go back to your therapist. Find out why you like to sabotage yourself. Be kind to yourself. You deserve to be healthier and skinner. -

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Jason. Please let us know when you find out. Good luck. -
I haven't worn one of those torture chambers in over 30 years but I understand as the tummy skin gets looser, I will have to use one if I want to look nice. I am not looking forward to it.

How soon can you have a drink?
LollyMoe replied to mems's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw some good advice on another thread: Be careful about drinking so much that you endulge in too many calories and you drink until you vomit. Some people eat more while drinking too. It's not fun. My doctor suggests not drinking at all for awhile. I don't drink so it's not a problem for me. -
I am down 27.4 pounds and haven't gone down a size but my clothes are far more comfortable. Keep your eye on your goal and don't let any negative thoughts enter your head. Be happy for the one size and look positive towards the next downsizing.

Still having pain???
LollyMoe replied to roseyblue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What kind of tumor? Was it always there or the result of surgery. What's up with it? I do feel tenderness around my port site and bending over is still painful. -
WOW! Double WOW! Congrats, Jerry. You can do this. Make sure you keep us posted on your success. You'll be a new man in no time at all. Just keep your mind set on your goal and don't let something like FOOD get in your way.

Bad shoulder pain/ gas 10 days out
LollyMoe replied to Moemoe455's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MoeMoe, yeah, it's too bad the politicians don't/won't take better care of it's resources. Every storm season, I worry about the area where we lived. We have so many friends down there. How's the gas? Hope it's better. -
My neighbor uses the Atkins Advantage shake. It has 15gm protein, and 5gm of fiber. She gets her protein and her fiber all in one shake. However, I didn't like the taste.

I saw a thread that had the cutest graphic and now I can't find it. It showed a fat lady that would change to a skinny lady. A moving graphic. Does anyone know where this one came from? I just love it and want to use it too.

Bad shoulder pain/ gas 10 days out
LollyMoe replied to Moemoe455's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey MOEMOE, how's Louisiana keeping? Hubby & I spent 30 years in Thibodaux. We sure miss the good cajun friends and food! We retired and moved back home to Alabama. The shoulder pain is from the gas. Walk, walk, and more walking. Gas-X helps too. It will get better but don't be surprised if it comes back once in awhile. -
I don't see where you SO bad in your eating choices except for the added carbs. Maybe step up your exercise a little. Wait a week and see if you get another gain or loss. You know how our hormones can play around with us.
