Has anyone felt weird after their fill?
LollyMoe replied to tke100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My friend said that she felt like she was getting the flu and was sore for 1-2 days after the first fill. Didnt have it happen on the second or third however. We have to remember that everyone is different. -

Leaving you guys - getting band removed and having gastric bypass.
LollyMoe replied to cookiebaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry you have to leave us. I do hope you have lots of success with the bypass. I also hope you're luckier than my friend. She had it done five years ago, lost 275 pounds, suffered from various medical problems and now has gained it all back. Good luck. You deserve to lose your weight and be happy with a new body. -

I too am passing on clothes and so is my SIL. Everytime she comes to see me, she brings more clothes. Sometimes, I don't get to wear them too long and have to pass them on again. I'm not even close to 16-20 yet but I'll get there! I'm not giving up. I hope you find someone that will need your clothes soon.

dieting while on lapband?
LollyMoe replied to moviestartaal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not about to "diet" after spending all this money on getting the band! I eat what is healthy and a lot less of it. I try to pick better things for me and stay away from the junk. I don't even eat out too much. No diet pills for me. Some almost killed me a few years ago. -

Jason: I am going to volunteer to do some door prizes for Veronica at least and see what else I can do to help. -
Are Bananas bad?
LollyMoe replied to nobodysbiznezz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bananas can cause constipation, so you;ll have to watch for that too. They are good for you and shouldn't hurt if you're using small ones and not too many a day. Here's a good shake recipe: Chocolate/Peanut Butter Shake 1/2 cup fat-free milk 1 cup ice 1 scoop of vanilla Protein Mix (I use Matrix) 1 pkg SF Swiss Miss 1 TAB Peanut Butter 3 pkgs Splenda Mix well in blender and enjoy! NOTE: I put my ice in first and crush it up well before adding milk and other ingredients. -
Anyone taking Synthroid after banding?
LollyMoe replied to 123crod's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been on Synthroid for 15 years. I take 300mcg per day and I take the brand name, not generic. I can tell you that when my levels are wacky, my weight rises but weight loss is also slower when you have this problem. The best thing you can do for yourself is to see a Endo doctor. They deal with the thyroid and diabetes all the time. Right now, my levels are in great shape and I am losing weight just as my doctor wants me too. 1-2 pounds a week. Do NOT ignore this medical problem and not take the medicine. That is a little stupid. When you have a medical problem, you need to address it and do what is necessary. Any time you have problems with the thyroid, it can be very serious. I've had patients that didn't take their meds and would be put on my psych unit because they were thought to be crazy & out of control. I've had them so down in depression that they couldn't get up or function at all. So, all of this said, please make sure you keep up with your levels and get some good advice from a doctor that is experienced in this disease. Good luck. -
Humming Bird: Thanks for the info on Wendy's chili. I usually eat 1-2 a week when I'm out/about. Ahealthierme: First of all forgive yourself and don't mess up again. Put your mindset on what the band is all about. Prepare for those times that your family will be eating out. Take along a acceptable "ditty bag" with your shakes or some kind of protein. Enjoy your family time together. You need to remember your user name every time you are tempted. You can't be a healthier you if you don't follow the rules. Now, start again and good luck.

I feel like I am being choked
LollyMoe replied to AlienBandit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's possible it's from the tube but to be safe, call your doctor. No question is a dumb question and they have heard it all..so call tomorrow. Good luck. -
Welcome to the board! It takes about 10 days to really be feeling great and about six weeks to heal completely. Gas-X and walking will help the gas. If the picture of the child is yours, be careful about picking him up or letting him jump on your tummy. BTW, he's so cute.... As someone said, you will be going through a lot of different things, some ups, some downs. However, you can do it with hard work and the right amount of fills. Hang in there and good luck.

Pissed Part II - A Different Perspective
LollyMoe replied to LisaMc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It always helps to take a step back and re-think situations in life...no matter what they are at the time. You did good girl! You are also showing a good weight loss and I know you can go all the way. Write down these successful moments so that someday you can look back to see how far you have come. -
Looking from some hints from someone thats already been banded
LollyMoe replied to curlicue22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this is a hard question to answer since everyone is so different. It's hard to "prepare" yourself but some of the things you might start are: Eating with a smaller plate/fork No liquids on the table No straws Use a 1/2 cup to measure your foods Taking bites about the size of the end of your little finger Putting your fork down between bites & CHEW, chew, chew Eating all your Protein first & then your veggie NO COLAS Getting rid of your "trouble foods/snacks" that you overeat on. Clean out the refrig/pantry Explain to your friends/family that this is NOT a rapid weight loss situation. It is a 1-2 pounds a week program and requires a lot of hard work on your part. Be prepared to need Fiber to help with any bowel changes. Have some Gas-X strips on hand for after surgery. They help some and so will walking. Don't be disappointed that it might take awhile to get enough "fills" to have good restriction. Good luck. Hope everything goes well for you. -

LollyMoe replied to Savedbygrace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I really enjoyed group today. Jody, the exercise trainer was awesome. Sure helped me with those moves. I met Ford's hubby today. He is a very nice looking man. She is a lucky lady. Jason was there checking us in today. When he got up to speak, a lady near me said "he sure is an attractive man" and was amazed that he had lost so much weight. Be careful, Jason, those ladies might kidnap you! LOL We missed the rest of you guys. Maybe next month. -
Yeah, take the liquid.

Newbie needs advice - 1 month post op
LollyMoe replied to lexi's mommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're not doing anything wrong. It's normal to lose 2-3 pounds a week. Some people gain. You don't have anything in your band yet. You'll start to lose when you get enough "fills". Right now, you have to eat what you should and no more. Some people call this time bandster's hell. Go to your appointment, talk with your doctor or his nurse and they will explain it to you. -
Forgive yourself and go forward. NO looking back except to remember that this isn't good for you. It takes about six weeks of healing for your body to be in good shape to do what you did, so you're lucky that you haven't done any inside damage. Find yourself some Protein Snacks to keep on hand and stay away from Burger King if you can't control it. Good luck. Now start your new beginning!

When is enough enough or too much?
LollyMoe replied to Scottinnh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein, protein, protein is the answer! Cut down on the carbs, drink plenty of Water, and have a snack during the afternoon. You can do it. Don't give up and don't worry about the gastric bypass people. They have enough of their own problems and will have for years to come.
