second fill clogs and bogs :-(
LollyMoe replied to aminorharmony's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told NO celery at all....b/c of the strings. I do chop it very small and use it in soups but don't eat it even then. -
I got a fill and can't drink anything w/out throwing up
LollyMoe replied to diana6303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try drinking something warm first. When I get a fill I have problems the first day or so and the warm fluid helps relax the swelling. -
My update after doc visit-post OP

Wow! That's very interesting. Thanks for posting. Glad you're better now. -
How much fluid did you get you first fill?
LollyMoe replied to okiegirl79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 11cc Realize band and it has 6.75ccs at the moment. Part of the day, I can really feel some restriction and part of it, I can't feel much. I think I am very close to my sweet spot and hope that when I get my fourth fill in December, I will be there. They always ask me if I'm hungry and how much hunger I experience. I guess that is one way that they determine how much to put it. -
Lost: Two 50-pound bags of sand
LollyMoe replied to rmbj0721's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats. Now pat yourself on the back three times and smile, smile, smile. You deserve it. I'm sure you feel and look so much better now. Give your wife a big hug for helping you. I know she must be so proud of you. Just think how much longer you will live now as compared to before. -
Is "Mid-band" the name of your band? I have a Realize band and it holds 11ccs total.

As I type this....

It will get better and you may find that pizza isn't that important anymore. It's surprising to me how many foods are not important to me anymore. I don't crave anything or think about foods I don't need. I guess I am lucky. Hang in there. Pizza will come soon if you still want it. -
Bread isn't so bad if it's toasted but be careful anyway. Getting anything stuck isn't fun!

My scars itch all the time! It drives me crazy, especially at night. Instead of scratching, I gently rub them and it helps.

Heading for a better number myself. I'll catch up one of these days. Congrats on making it. -
how do you know if your obstructed
LollyMoe replied to kenterben's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded in August and had my third fill yesterday. Last night, I got something stuck and it feels like a heart attack! The pain is something else again. You'll know it if and when you get stuck. -
Is this really worth it??
LollyMoe replied to MrsBerggren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GB patients have problems with food too. They also have severe episodes of dumping. They have to deal with mal-absorption, taking B-12 injections for the rest of their lives and it's not reversible. They also have a high rate of gaining the weight back. I went out to eat with a friend a few years ago. She had a problem with dumping that night and had to lay on the floor of a bathroom stall next to the commode until it passed. I stood watch for her for over an hour! Think long & hard about wanting GB. Talk to your doctor about it. It isn't the easy way out either. -
Put those dresses in a consignment shop for other "chubbies" to be able to wear.

According to Lisa's records, I am down 52 pounds and have 6.75cc in my band as of today. Yeah me! I went to church tonight for a covered dish supper and got stuck! Of all places for it to happen. Of course, it helps that there were four other banders there tonight and they told me what to do. Took awhile to get relief. I got a fill today and Lisa tells me that it's not necessary to go back on liquids but after getting stuck & slimming for awhile, I'm on liquids until at least Saturday, no matter what. I hate that pain... I am proud of myself and feel that I'm on the right track. I went to see my PCP yesterday and he was so proud of me. He was smiling from ear to ear. He's already talking about more surgeries to remove all the loose skin I'll have eventually. He admitted that when he suggested it, he didn't think I would go through with it and is so happy that I did. Already he is seeing improvement in my health. In fact, he took me off two of my meds. Hurray! Hope to see somebody at group this Saturday. -
What's all the fill hype about?
LollyMoe replied to SumSum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to get my third fill tomorrow. I have 6.5cc in a 11cc band. I am hoping to feel some restriction soon. I am beginning to need the help that my tool can provide. -
I am suppose to start WW this week. I joined the Y but haven't been able to go yet. Looking forward to going.

Not sure what it is but...

No, I know what you mean. My 89 yr old mother lives me right now and she says I am getting "quite sassy". She isn't use to me having an opinion that is different from hers. I love it! -
Take it one day at the time and you'll be fine. Every day may be different but you'll get there.

Any book recommendations?

will be banded november 24th
LollyMoe replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your upcoming date! If you have any questions post-op, just ask. In the meantime, buy yourself some Gax-X strips (read the directions), some liquid Tylenol, get a pillow to hold over tummy when coughing/sneezing for a few days and stock up on what the doctor says you can have. I use Matrix Protein Powder (Vanilla) but you can use Carnation Instant Breakfast, Atkins Advantage, and some others that have been mentioned. Good luck and let us hear from you. -
Post-op Liquid Diet Question
LollyMoe replied to michelleintheoc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had two weeks of liquids post-op and doctor explained that he wanted me to have plenty of healing time. Liquids don't make the stomach work very much since it's a slider. Try a Atkins Advantage Protein shake. It's not bad. -
Am I "lucky" or just "clueless"?
LollyMoe replied to txcloverangel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great work so far. Sorry about the chicken. I can only eat Roterissie (sp?) chicken. Guess it's more moist. cheese is a huge NO-No for me. I have a friend that got banded at Easter and she is having her first fill this week! She's lost 78 pounds and is doing great. Maybe you're a lucky one too. -
Lost 7lbs under the "Starve Yourself Diet"!

I am married to a retired X-Ray tech (of 48yrs experience) and he says that it looks like the tubing isn't connected to the port. What looks like a kink is probably just a loop and could be shown better with a side view X-ray. He say the doctor should have been able to "read" this x-ray and determined this for himself. He says that you should get a radiology doctor to look at this x-ray for you. Good luck and keep us posted. -
1 Year Anniversary, 55 Pounds & 2 Sizes Gone

I know this is going to sound silly, but, stand in front of a full length mirror at least twice a day and only say good things about yourself. You would be surprised how much this will help your self image. Don't look at the negative body, only the positive body and keep saying something nice to yourself. You are teaching the brain to accept a "new you".
