Post-Op Bloodwork / tests
LollyMoe replied to timmmers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My PCP does regular Chem 20 profile every six months. My numbers are in great shape and I am in the process of being taken off some of my B/P meds already. -
Dr. Miles or Dr. Schmitt patients
LollyMoe replied to Savedbygrace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jennybeck: I have 6.75ccs in my 11cc band according to Lisa. I don't really feel restriction either and can eat a cow if one would wander into my yard. However, I am the one that is restricting my intake...not the band. I am losing but it's by my strong will right now. I would love to have at least a little restriction and maybe after next Wednesday, I will have it. I too need to exercise more but my life isn't my own too much now with my 89 yr old mother living with me. She is my shadow 24/7 and it's hard. I did order the Armchair exercise CD b/c it's something that she & I can do together. I just have to actually put the CD in the machine and turn it on!!! Group meeting is on the 19th. Please come if you can. I think it helps a lot. They are having a clothes sale at 9:00 a.m. if you have any clothes to sale. I have a bunch of 4X that I am going to give away...no sale. Didn't want to bother with pricing, etc. My SIL has sent me loads of clothes (2X), so I figure I can send mine on to someone else. Kaninag, I am still keeping you in my thoughts for your weight lost goal. Keep up the good work. I know you can do it. See you everyone and keep losing. -
Fills- covered by insurance?
LollyMoe replied to juliansmom2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance pays them. I pay my doctor's $20.00 co-pay. However, I am 67 yrs old and my insurance is connected with Medicare. -
I have lost weight on a steady basis but everyone is different. Be patient...it will happen for you too. As for your water. You add crystal lite to it in any flavor you want and it helps. I purchased a case of 20oz bottled water from Walmart. Each morning, I take out three bottles, mix my crystal lite, and put one by my chair, one by the bathroom sink, and one in the kitchen. As I pass by them, I drink some from them. The goal is to drink all three prior to bedtime. It works for me.

Is salad a slider food?
LollyMoe replied to pookiemp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thinkoflaura: Slider food is foods that slide on thru the pouch w/o staying any time. -
Are you using pre-made shakes in a can or do you make them from a protein powder? If you're using a powder, you can doctored them with bananas, fruits, peanut butter. Use a lot of crushed ice in them too. Look on this site for shake recipes also.

Day 2 so much pain
LollyMoe replied to realtruelady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did your doctor order you some take-home pain meds? If so, take them and try to walk around the house as much as possible. If he didn't, liquid tylenol will help some and a heating pad. Make sure you get your liquids, esp. water & protein. It will get better everyday, I promise. -
Looking to talk to people who may regret getting banded
LollyMoe replied to Carriedaway78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you don't like your band, instead of having it completely removed, just have all the fluid removed. You don't have to have any surgery that way and you can use your own willpower to continue losing weight since you feel the band hasn't helped you very much. -
The first circle of hell
LollyMoe replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry for the loss. Enjoy the time with your MIL...not everyone is so lucky to have a "spirited old bird" that can kick butt. It won't be long before you will be keeping up with her. As soon as your endorphins kick in. -
I was banded on Aug 11th and I've had three fills. 6.75ccs in a 11cc Realize band. I am going in for my 4th fill next week. I am close to my sweet spot. Bread is okay with me if I take tiny bites about the size of a dime. Toast is easier.

If I do a cleanse, do I have to sit on the potty all day? LOL Seriously, I've never done a complete cleanse except for pre-ops. Do you do them regularly and what does your doctor say about them?

Should I get another fill
LollyMoe replied to gbakerc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go for it. You can always schedule a unfill. -
Productive Burp is when you burp and food comes back up. Embrassing if it happens while out eating with friends. Eat slow, chew well and you might not ever have one.

First Fill Question --Please Help!
LollyMoe replied to farmgirl10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the Realize band and I have 6.75ccs with not much restriction at all. I'm still working on my own willpower but still losing! -
What is dumping exactly?
LollyMoe replied to ChrisW123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lapband people don't have a dumping problem as far as I know. Ask your doctor. -
Productive Burp.

OH BOY...1st fill...1st pb...
LollyMoe replied to Doreenm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor recommends a day or two after each fill. Solids are hard on a swollen stomach. Also, my fills feel tight for about 2 weeks and then it's as if I don't have a band. -

LollyMoe replied to Soexcited's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate It's much easier and accomplishes the same thing for your doctor. -
Yep, it's slimming. You'll learn to deal with it.

Christmas Weightloss Challenge
LollyMoe replied to Fluffy Jen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have now reached my goal of weight loss for Christmas, so I am setting a newer goal. I don't want to gain any weight between now and the New Year. -
Thanks for this tip. I am a huge tea drinker and this will allow me a nice change once in awhile.

Nerous_Newbie: My goodness, don't let a little thing like a title of a thread upset you. You might have to face far more things that will make you nervous, e.g. slimming, PB's, struck food. Mickey527: Congrats on losing your grandson in weight that is! I knew what your thread was going to be about before I read it. Don't know why everyone is so nervous about the title.

Help! I feel that this whole thing isn't working for me right.....
LollyMoe replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your band is a tool...not a magic wand. That needs to become your mantra. You have already had very good weight loss and should be proud of it. Right now, you have to control what you eat and eating things that aren't good for you is not getting you anywhere except into trouble in the long run. You will have to work very hard along with your band in order to achieve your goals. Proper diet and exercise is the answer. It's up to you to maintain a program that will allow you to lose weight. As for restriction, you may not feel it until your 4-5 fill. Wanting to vomit is not realistic or safe. The body does not like to vomit and causes trauma. It's also not good for your band...do you want to cause it to slip. If you have used vomiting as a weight means in the past, then you need to address that problem with your doctor. If you wanted FAST results, you should have considered the gastric bypass. Now, try to settle down, follow what your doctor says, exercise regularly, get your fills, and the weight will come off. If you only lose 1 pound a week, you will be 52 pounds less in a year than you were the year before you tried. Be thankful for any weight loss. -
Day 6 Post Op and wonder what and why I did this!!
LollyMoe replied to randim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are normal! Don't give up. Walk, walk, walk. I am surprised that you're on the mushies so soon, however. I was on Clear Liquids for 3-4 days, then full liquids for 10 days, and then moved on to solids. You really need to talk with your doctor or nutritionist to make sure you are on the right eating program. You don't want the stomach to over work while it's in a healing mode. I promise you that in about 4-6 weeks you will be a newer person and be so happy you did this. It's worth it. So hang in there until it gets better for you. -
NSV!! NSV!! 5K today!!
LollyMoe replied to pookiemp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
congrats on the 5K. I wish I could walk at all but right now my legs won't allow it. Maybe with more weight loss and my legs getting better, I will someday be able to brag too. Pat yourself on the back...you deserve it.
