I looked into lap band surgery about a year ago and could not afford it and my insurance company did not cover it.  In January I talked to a friend that was scheduled to have it and she told me that her insurance company was now covering Weight Loss Surgery as opposed to constantly paying for obesity related illnesses.  So I gave it a shot, called and sure enough my insurance company now covers it!!!  I checked with my OB/GYN/PCP to see if he had any experience with any WLS surgeons and he highly recommended Dr. Richardson.  I called and got an appointment right away and within 2 months I was finished all my pretesting and had my approval in hand.  I delayed the surgery due to already scheduled vacations and scheduled it for August 6th.  I went in that morning for 6:30 am, was in surgery for 8:50 am and walking the halls by 11:50 am.  I did not need any pain medication whatsoever.  I didn't even fill the prescription they gave me when I was released from the hospital at 5:45 that evening. The next day I was up at 6:00 am washing dishes, folding laundry and cooking a pork tenderloin for dinner for my family.  The next day I was at my nephews wedding (arrived one hour before the ceremony and was last to leave the reception!)  And believe it or not I was at work that Monday morning.  Everything has been great.  I almost fear that it is all too good to be true!
