    12 1/2 lbs down

Just wanted to share my update on this journey. I just visited my Dr. yesterday and I am 12 1/2 lbs down from my last visit. This is exciting along with the fact I am fitting some of my old clothing already. So far as how I am feeling, I do have a hard time when out and seeing people eat what they want. Food has been such an major part of my life that sometimes it can be overwhelming. I just try to keep in mind that the food will be there. http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wnYva3D/"> >

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Seeking Lapband Buddy

Hello Michelle, Thanks for replying to my thread. I would love to be buddies with you. So you are not being banded too long after me. That's cool. Are you having to do the Medifast or liver reduction diet before surgery? I am on it now but 2 weeks. It is definitely a test of will. What state do you live in? I am in Indiana.
  6. Wow! I didn't know that those that had Gastric Bypass eventually went in for a Lapband. The one other reason I can give for choosing Lapband over RnY is that being the fact that what you eat is Malabsorptive and even though this is a benefit when it comes to those things you don't want the body to absorb you still have the flip side of it not absorbing what it should properly thus leading to a life of vitamins 4x a day.

    The Journey Begins!

  8. Hello, My name is Barbara and I am getting ready to be banded 6/2/10. I am currently 256 lbs (down from 270 at the start of this journey in August, '09.) I am having some concerns from reading the discussion boards about starving after surgery. I am wondering how I will handle that feeling along with other things I could experience. I would like to connect with someone who can help me through this process so that I can realize the healthy life I deserve to have. Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  9. Hello Fellow Bandsters, I just received my surgery date yesterday and I am so excited! This journey has been wonderful so far. From the start I didn't rush the process by wanting to have the surgery like yesterday. I believe because of this everything has went as smoothly up to this point for me. I was even approved the first time around. As I get ready to start the testing and Protein Shakes I realize that this is really going to happen for me. I am happy for a site like this because I believe we all need the support of each other to make this a success for us. I look forward to sharing with you the progress I make once the band is in place. Until then.....join me on journey! Start Date: 8/26/09 Approval Date: 3/26/10 Surgery Date: 6/2/10

DAy 6 of 14 on Liquids

Wow! I just received my approval letter from the insurance company today. I am surprised at how quickly they got you into surgery. Best of luck to you and yes it is all worth it to have a new life!
  11. Hi, I am so glad there is a group created for us. It helps to have someone who can relate to somethings we face when it comes to obesity and even going through this procedure. I am just getting started and have to wait 6 months until the procedure can be done. I have my first visit with the NPractioner next week. I guess my one concern right now is the diet I will have to sustain after surgery and my fear of "dumping." Can you give me any advice on what you did after your surgery?

  12. Hello, thanks for posting your experience. I am in the early stages of this process and need to wait 6 months before I can even have the surgery. I fit the category of morbidly obese and will have my 1st visit with the Nurse Practicioner at the end of the month. I have read a few sites on peoples experiences both good and bad but still like this is the best procedure because you wont have that rapid weightloss (which is a good way to loose weight) and the procedure is reversible. What is your advice for someone like me getting started?
