  1. Hi All, I'm still doing research on the band - my doc appt is October 2006, but what happens 3-4 years later? How long doe sthe band stay with you? I have seen so many posts of people who have had the band taken off due to slippage, erosion, pain etc etc - does anyone know on average how long will the band remin in? Doe w eall have to plan a second surgery for removal in a few years? If life long - doe sthis mean all life - chew mushie food, eat extremely slowly and very small qty - once you have reached ideal weight, wontthe small tiny qty cause malnutrition? Lastly - when theband is out the scarring on the stomach - does that cause serious complications? How does one get aroudn these probelms?
  2. Hello All, I'm seeing my doctor about banding on Thursday 21st Sep, but I have a question for people who've already who've been banded for a while - say 2-3 year and have reached or are close to their targets. What is your current diet now? Do you still eat everything or is it still retsricted? Do you still have PB's What about fills? How often do you need to fill/unfill - 2-3 years down the line? Is the hunger pangs any different? Will you keep the ban din always or will you take it out? I quite concerned about what happens after recahing the target and how to maintain. Regards Michael
  3. Hello All, I am so glad to have found this site as I cannot find any banders here in HK. (obesity is hardly a problem here) I weigh 268 pounds BMI 39 & have been suffering from diabetes for the last 2 years. My insurance company has refused to cover the surgery so I am trying through the govt system , maybe I have to pay for half the surgery but I have to wait 2 months to see a doctor. Before I do so I have several queries pleae can someone help me: Is there a lot of vomiting after the surgery? My biggest fear is vomiting, I seem to have some kind of phobia about this - I can count that I have ONLY vomited 3 times in my entire life. After a year or so can one go back to eating (even though its small qty) things like red meat, rice, vegetables & fruits without exception? Does this really help in reducing hunger pangs all day? My problem is I feel hungry every couple of hours. I realise some quetsions may have been already answered in past forums , I will keep searching, but I would love to talk to some banders personally so I can ask them about their experiences. I would be happy to call anyone if they are willing to discuss this with me over the telephone. I would really appreciate this. Regards Michael :help:
