    Slow Losers

I sympathize with you all. I had my band put in August 21st. i had my first fill one month later and I was down 10 pounds. I postponed my second fill because I did not feel ready and was having a hard time with food choices and keeping it all down and pain free... I had my second fill Deecember 12th and I gained 1.5 pounds! The Dr said it was holiday time and he wasn't concerned, but I am so frustrated! 9 pounds in 3 months! I did better on Weight Watchers and i could actually enjoy eating! Yes, I know you are going to say well that is right on track, but I feel that such an extreme measure such as WLS should produce extreme results...is 2 pounds a week to much to ask for? Thanks for listening...I have decided to try a more positive attitude for 2007 =)

Getting Private Insurance A few ?'s (Unicare)

Hello. I had my surgery about 2 months ago and it was covered by my insurance. Since then I have left my job and I was looking for private insurance but I am being denied because of the band! It's crazy because I can't find anyone to insure me. I was told the only way I could be insured is on a group policy. So, because i have the band I will be forced to work for someone else so i can get on group insurance? I am so frusturated that I did not find out about this before.
  3. Good Luck! I had my surgery at Wise. Make sure that they give you all of the stuff they are supposed to after surgery. I guess you are supposed to get a bag with info to aid in your recovery - I never got mine. I also felt they rushed me out of the hospital and I wasn't ready yet. I was out about 45 minutes after my surgery. My husband bought me some gas meds that come in strips kind of like the breath mint strips. All of the meds did very little to help, but I found walking a great relief. I also get very sick from being put under during surgery, but they are great about giving anti-nausea meds to you before surgery and it works wonders! Congratulations to you all!

    Twentysomething Bandsters

Hi everyone! I have been married almost 2 years, but i thought being single was great. I adore my husband and in the 2 years we have been together I have been very thin, had back surgery, gained 140 pounds and had lap band surgery! Through it all he loves me the same and is so supportive. When I met him I had just been dumped by a boyfriend (who was supposed to go on vacation with me) Well, I went on vacation by myself and ended up sitting in my husband's seat on the airplane! You never know when you are going to meet that person you will spend the rest of your life with - But, as I said being single was great! I moved to a new city every few years, reinvented myself, and worked on becoming the person I wanted to be. Enjoy it, you are on the right path to improve yourself. Have fun and enjoy getting to know yourself - you will find someone when it's time. I really believe everything happens for a reason and sometimes it takes a few years before we recognize that reason.

    Never admitted until NOW

I had to stop watching food network because I was so damn hungry! To the ladies who love ice cream and french fries... I used to do both together! Yummy, nothing like hot, salty fries in a Wendy's frosty. So, this is embarassing... I once ordered a Lg. pizza and wings when my husband was out of town. Totally forgot that they email a conformation...to my husbands Blackberry! He asked if I was having a party while he was out of town...Damn!
  8. Hi, I had Dr. B put my band in 4 weeks ago. The surgery process was easy and he checked on me before I left. I had my surgery at Wise. i do recommend that you tell them you want to rest alittle before being sent home. After I was out of surgery i went home an hour later - a little to soon for me. The first night I had terrible gas pain and I recommend having gas relief meds. They have a new kind that is like a breath mint strip. I found the most relief from walking. After 3 weeks i can now sleep on my left side and after 4 days i felt pretty good. They say to call a few days after surgery to set up an appointment for a fill which will happen in about 4-6 weeks. Good luck! Dr. Benavides and his staff are great!

    when did you get busy.......

10 days! Though I had a Doctor's note that said I needed Doctor approval. It was a great "tool" in case I wasn't ready yet! It was only 2 days after back surgery...what do you want, I'm a newlywed =) Have Fun!

    Not lossing weight, why?

I'm 3.5 weeks post op too and I lost 12 pounds in two days and have gained back 5. I know how frusturated you must feel. It's hard when my family who lives in another state keeps asking "how much weight have you lost?" They freaked when I told them I gained! I tried to explain why, but they don't get it. I do applaud you for exercising and eating right - I have struggled with that. Keep up the good work, thanks for the motivation and know you are not alone! Courtney

    Weightloss and PCOS - WOMEN/Adult

Hi ladies, I am 29 and was diagnosed with PCOS at 18. There is a great website for PCOS www.soulcysters.com They even have a thread for WLS called "wls divas". As an adult I have been thin and heavy. When I was thin I noticed my PCOS at a minimum ie: periods were normal, mimimal facial hair, etc. As soon as I gained my weight back all the symptoms came back as well. My GYNO gave me Fortamet which is a diabetic med. to help with symptoms, but i did not find it helped. Many women with PCOS are insulin resistant, so they treat it like you are diabetic. I have been banded for almost one month and have only lost 9 pounds, but I am hoping to be back to my thin self some day. I have found that weight loss does help with PCOS. Good luck to you all!

    For struggling new bandsters

Thanks for this thread! I am 3 weeks post op and frustrated. I lost 12 pounds the first week and have gained back 4 over the last two weeks. I am eating alot less and i am learning how to eat. since I no longer get that "full" feeling in my stomach I want to keep eating, but I am learning that that is not the thing to do. My DH says I look like i have been losing inches, and my clothes fit a little better, but pound for dollar...I want to see a return on my investment! Okay, okay, I am being impatient, so no need to remind me! Thanks for all the great advice and continued success and strength to you all.

Hi ladies! I looked for roller skates on ebay, but didn't find much. I have an old blue suede pair from the 1970's, but they are a little difficult to work with. Mary- Thanks for the message, I hope you can make it on Sunday!

    Does this mean I'm full?

Thanks for explaining that feeling. I get that when I eat and I am never sure if it means stop or wait a minute. They really need to explain to people in deatail what they might feel. I have a huge problem with not drinking while eating. I am learning as if I do happen to forget I tend to get sick.
