  1. :confused:Hi guys. I haven't been on this site in years. Sorry about that. I had LB surgery in Nov 06. The first 24 months I lost 50 lbs (which felt great). I would have been thrilled to lose 25 more and be done. I was too tight and had fill removed to be prudent. I have had at least 10 fills over 18 months and not getting appropriate restriction. Now I'm wondering if I have a leak as within 2 weeks of no restriction after last fill, there was less fill in my band. I was given more and asked to return in 2 weeks. If still no restriction, they will do fill under fluoro. So...does anyone have experience with leaks? I have tried to find info. Looks like if it's the band it's a big deal (replacement--but those are 5% of the time. The more common appear to be tubing or port. The port surgery seems reasonable and relatively simple. Help??? Laura from Florida:frown:

    Lap Band Leak?

I'm hoping it's my port as that surgery seemed minor? Putting the 'how to pay for it aside' -- how much did you have to go through to prep for surgery this time? Will they take all your fill out and make you start again? Did you have to have all that pre-op stuff again? I'm worrying to death about this and the surgeon's office is reluctant (and I understand why) to go down any of these paths before we figure out what is going on. Any info would be appreciated though.
  3. Struggling not to gain weight after first fill. Second fill is scheduled for Jan 4. I have no restriction whatsoever and haven't had any restriction whatsoever. Scared this won't work for me. Share your own experience with fills and when they kicked in for you and for how long?? Thanks Laura

I got a date & how long did it take for a yes or no?

A question: I am a lightweight BMI, barely 40. I assume they'll weigh me at the surgeon visit this week (my first consult). Is that the weight that gets submitted??? I've been slowly gaining over past few months, but have just touched current BMI of 40.

    Mean ol' doctor.

When I suggested to my internist that I wanted to explore lap band, she told me, 'oh no...you just need to eat less and exercise more.' I looked at this 5'0" 90 lbs woman and thought, 'this is my last visit.' When I described my self-loathing to my GYN and asked if she would support my decision and act as my PCP, she was amazing. After a speech about not putting my whole self worth into how much I weigh (and she told me I was the woman she aspired to be--amazing!)--she said she'd support me and wrote a 2 page killer letter. She told me she dared the ins co to deny me. I am still in the process... Lightweight BMI of barely 40.
