  1. Hi October Bansters hope you are all doing well. I am feeling much better now but had a bit of a turn a couple of weeks ago whilst away for work. Rested up was probably doing too much and went back to work too early but much better now. Weight loss slowed down for me have only lost a pound in the last two weeks but going for my first fill next week so hopefully it will get better. Not sure whats its like anyone got a info as I am a bit scared that they wont find the port and its right under my scar which also worries me a bit!! Would you suggest I go back for another the week before Christmas or shall I wait until January as my family dont know I have a band (only my OH!!) Hope everyone is doing well, it would be great to hear from you there are a lot of us and not many messages at the moment!! :bored:
  2. Hi Wisteria We got banded on the same day!! Hope your feeling well, I am just about feeling ok now, went back to work too soon I think! I noticed you got a fill this week, my first fill is booked for 27th Nov, can you let me know how much difference it makes as I can eat now, not lots but enough and I wondered how the first fill makes a difference? Any thoughts would be good. Thanks for your help:thumbup:
  3. Thanks for this sorry I havent got back to you, have been a bit unwell but better now. Drinking lots of water and getting my fibre in!! LOL....
  4. Thanks for this, feeling a little better have been resting and took some more pain killers. Read up on some other threads so took a tablet for constipation and at moment all seems to be better. Will keep my fingers crossed. Thank you for you kind help x
  5. Please could you advise me? Banded 16/10/2009 things healing nicely, Little gas pain but feeling healthier, sleeping easier. A couple of days ago blue stitches came out and the ends were cut off the clear dissolvable stitches, but the jagged end caught my top and pulled some of the clear stitch out by my long scar. I cut the bit sticking out off. Yesterday I was twisting to get inside the car felt a pain in my side. When I got out I could hardly walk, it got easier as I eventually got to lay down, couldn't at first it was too painful. I feel like I may have pulled a muscle? I took pain killers through the night. I can walk, get up and about now but the pain is still there but not so intense. Is this ok? I am travelling to Belfast tomorrow to work for 3 days and I am a little concerned as it is more painful now than it was before. Seeing Doc on 27 Nov

  6. Hi October Bandsters Wonder if anyone can give me advice, never had much gas pain, but did have gas! Been banded two weeks and was healing well and sleeping ok. Twisted yesterday when getting into car and now in really bad pain on left hand side under breast, not sure if port is there, port scar ok though, but dissolvable stitch came out yesterday when twisted. Not sure if its port, stitches coming out on the inside or constipation. Has anyone else had this? Not seeing doctor until end of November flying away for work tomorrow for three days I am a bit worried?? HELP........:scared2:

    Pain in the port area

Hi I am a bit worried too. I was banded on 16th October in another country and do not see my surgeon until my first fill at end of November. I was healling well and sleeping ok, twisted getting into the car yesterday only slightly and have really bad pain now, taking pain killers and really worried, not sure what to do as have to fly to Ireland tomorrow for work? Anyone experienced this before>
  8. Hi Granny of 10, I am a Granny of 2!! Mother of 3!! To make a ticker you go to Tickerfactory.com There are instructions at the beginning of the forums page somewhere but cant remember where? Its easy to make the ticker its just transferring it that takes a little bit more concentration!! Good Luck
  9. Hi Nooshie, I agree my doctor said I could have a quick shower but no baths until 3 weeks, still cant wait its next week for me!! Disposable stitches coming out now, little bit sore but nothing I cant handle. Mushies going ok, eaten a couple of things that were obviously not mushed up enough or eaten too quickly and have been sick a couple of times, so learning to eat slower with smaller bites. Drinking lots, sips all day long keeps you feeling fuller longer as I was thought I was hungry before I started doing this it helps a lot. Good Luck Everyone:biggrin:

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Hi All, thanks for the advice now seem to be back on the straight and narrow!! A little slip up but back in control now and not so hungry, I think liquid/water/drinking and walking is the answer Also went back to work Thursday and didnt come home until last night (Saturday), have to go to Ireland for work, so think I was just really tired, the operation does take it out of you more than you realise, but definately starting to feel better. Still feel a little pregnant though and have some pain, stomach feels rather delicate, but well worth it x One more day on Liquids and then on Mushies cant wait... Just some advice for anyone on post op liquid diet. When in hopsital they gave me some dutch bakes (thick crispbreads) that melt in your mouth and told me these were alright with soup etc. So I have them now and then on their own with cheese spread (protein) or smooth peanut butter (protein) or with soup with low cal spread. They gave us jam in hospital wit them but couldnt face that (lol!!). Helps the 10 days go by without going mad to chew!!

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all the advice and the warm welcome back!! I am begining to feel a lot better today, which is just as well as I am back at work tomorrow! LOL!! The operation went really well, Dr Chris and Fred are both great and very professional. I have been a bit unwell as I am not very good when I come around after being put out.... The journey home was ok but I certainly knew I had done it and slept but have been getting better by the hour. The injections are simple and do not hurt which is the part I was worried about and not too much pain but have been relaxing since got home. Not too sure what is a liquid and what is a mushy as had porridge this morning but then thought this was probably a mushy, anybody got any hints to help me decide!! Thanks everyone you are all so nice and have all been so great!! One thing is I keep coughing as I didnt realise I take such big sips - we live and learn!! XX
  17. Hi Nooshie, I've been - too much information!! LOL, we had an xray the next day to make sure everything was as it should be and they warned us the drink they gave us would make us go, which it did (took me four days), sorry everyone!! I have some wind so I have been taking windeze whilst I am at home, but back to work tomorrow so better not take it then......... Hope this helps? Feeling much much better now, but still not quite 100% but feel better by the hour which is great x

Hi Debs, I rang today to book mine for 6 weeks in Newport with Frederik and the cost is £90 cash with him. I wasnt sure whether to go to Fred or Wendy, I think Wendy is £85 but not sure if I ought to stay with the people who have done it incase there are any problems? Can anyone advise us on the difference between Fred and Wendy and what you would suggest, although I know it is personal choice? Thanks everyone x

  20. Hi All I didnt have a cathater, I have a tube down my throat during the operation and a drip tube in my stomach which was taken out after one day. I also had a tube up my nose to help me breath, this came out after a day. I am injecting myself to stop blood clots for five days and changing my dressings every two days for ten day, when the stictches that dont disolve on their own have to be taken out by a nurse or doctor - hope this helps?
  21. Hi Nooshie I am the other side now too!! I got banded late Friday afternoon, didnt know much about the operation which was great, but didnt feel too well afterwards, always feel sick after being put out!! Travelled home from Belgium yesterday to the UK which was a bit of a trek, really tired and didnt feel well by the time I got home. Spent day in bed today and feeling much better, you get better by the hour! I know what you mean about learning to drink and take sips, not sure if mine are too big but after a little while I start coughing so I must be... Lots to learn - Good Luck all you October Bandsters.. x
