Hi Angela! My weight stopped this week, too.... 16 pounds in 2 weeks, then nothing. My hunger didn't really go away until I went to solid food. My doctor has us start after 2 weeks. Now I can eat three meals with a snack and I am pretty much ok. I think you can eat about 1/2-1 cup (if eaten slowly) when on food, but mushies I think you need to eat 1/2 cup every 2 hours. And I think hunger is a good sign....you are healing up well and your body is ready for action! Take care, Karen

Thanks for the links, Randi! I have not seen that handbook and that is great to have. The other links were good, too. Very informative! Oh, and I love the line under your name.... I need to remember that when I start to feel unsure..... thanks! Karen

Thanks, Grace, for weighing in on the ibuprofen issue. I was like you, I chose the band only after confirming that I could take ibuprofen if I really needed it, since I can not take anything else. As for the anemia, I'm sure your doctor will be able to help you. When you had it before, did they find the cause? I'm sure you lost some blood during surgery and that must be why it is back.... Please don't worry yet. I also deal with anemia, but I am taking a small vitamin/iron tablet now to combat it. Can you take something like that also? Oh, and you have lost so much weight---that is wonderful! WOW!! :clap2:

Happy "Day After", Everyone! I am feeling a little freaked out right now, since yesterday I found out that I could EAT, with no problems!! I tried a spoonful of everything, and it all went down just fine. YIKES!! I even had 2 slivers of pie.....sigh..... :faint: Part of me was happy that I could share in the meal with all my family, and the other part was terrified.... I am going to have to be very careful until I see the doctor in January!! How did everyone else do? TropicalJill, how did your ThanksGIVING go? What a wonderful idea---I have always wanted to volunteer at a shelter serving Thanksgiving dinner, but never took the time. YOU did!! I am impressed and I hope it was a wonderful day for you! WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBERS!! :clap2: Karen

GREAT Thanksgiving posts, you guys!! I am grateful for my faith, for my "new life" as a banded person, for my family and friends...and for you all. It is so wonderful to not go through this alone, and to share our difficulties and successes! Thank you!! Hang in there, Vegge... you are doing great!! As for the ibuprofen, my doctor also told me it was OK to take it sometimes. Bypass patients can never take it, but this was the main reason I chose the lapband. It is the only form of pain-reliever, besides aspirin, that I can take. The surgeon even used it in my I.V. in the hospital, the first day after surgery! She told me to take it if I needed it for pain after I got home, but I didn't need it, luckily. So I would take it sparingly, but go ahead if your doctor approved it. You won't be needing it for long, I am sure.... And Misty, I was also hungry in the hospital! Some of us have appetites that won't quit...but now that I am in my third week after surgery, I find that it is quite controllable. A few bites, or 1/2 cup of food, stops the hunger for several hours. You will see, so hold on and don't worry! Diana, you have GOT to drink more water!! 64 oz.!! Keep a water bottle next to you and sip all day. You don't want to have dehydration mess up your recovery. Keep trying! Terri, so glad you are doing so well after surgery. Thanks for the reminder that today is about blessings, not food! Happy Thanksgiving to ALL....I am grateful for our Nov. Bandsters!! Karen

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=6962&stc=1&d=1164257034 HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYBODY!! Thought this crazed turkey would be a reminder of how we will be feeling watching everyone around us gorge themselves, while we are taking our tiny bites or drinking our liquids. We can do this.... hang in there!!! Karen
-
Thanks, Misty.... and soon YOU will be having some "non-scale victories", also.... as well as plenty of scale victories!!! Good luck tomorrow. We will be thinking of you and know you will come through with flying colors! Post back here as soon as you can---we will be waiting to hear! Karen

NewStart: :welcome: to our Nov. Bandsters!! Keep posting and please ask any questions you may have. We are all in this together!! Karen
-
Lea, Congrats on doing so well so soon after surgery! I have heard of others who burp continuously afterwards, but I haven't experienced that at all. Maybe you could ask on a different thread, like "Pre-op and Post-op Questions", and find the answer. In any case, you are doing great and I am happy for you. WTG on the quick weight loss!! Karen
-
Cassandra, Lisa and Kelly: YEAH FOR YOU....FOR DOING SO WELL AND REPORTING BACK SO QUICKLY!!! I am so happy that you are recovering so well and doing so great!! Please keep posting and letting us know how it is going, we are all here for you!! Keep it going!! Karen

Thanks, Angela..... this feels GOOD, huh?? Makes all those liquid meals worth it!! Congratulations to you!! Karen
-
Chris: Thank you! :clap2: You are :first: You rule! Way to go!:cheer2: Karen
-
Hi everyone.... just had to share my first non-scale victory: I tried on my wedding ring today and it fit!! I haven't been able to wear it for the last 2 years, and didn't want to have it re-sized AGAIN (the band is getting thin), so this felt wonderful!! P.S. My hubby of almost 38 years is happy, too...... Thanks for being there! Karen
-
Misschrissy: Congratulations on your Band-Date!! :clap2: We are happy to have you join us and we will look forward to sharing in your adventure! Keep posting! Karen
-
Denise, I am another Nov. 8 Bandster.... I am wondering about your meals, did you mean that you are only supposed to eat 3 meals a day, of 4 oz each? I am supposed to eat something every 2 hours, that helps alot!! I start the 3 meals plus snacks next week. It is no wonder you cheated with so few meals! Please don't beat yourself up! I would increase the amount of meals you have each day and keep your protein level up....You will do fine, but this is a huge adjustment and you need to find what works for you!! Hang in there!! Karen
-
I KNEW I would forget to include someone in my list: apinksoprano----you will be included in my prayers!! You will do great, don't worry! Good luck, Karen
-
Veggestyle, DianaG, Sunsreturn, Jeffslove, Laurba, Jess02, aussiebandit (and anyone else whose name I may not have): Good luck to you all----you will be fine and by this time next week, you will be an old hand at this and doing well!! I will be praying for you all.... please come back as soon as you can to let us know how you are!!! Karen
-
Cassandra, you are gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing that beautiful picture. I don't think you need to worry about being too weak after surgery. I think Angela's situation is less common than usual. I would say the biggest thing to do is make sure you have plenty of high-Protein liquids on hand and to remember to have them about every 2-3 hours. Don't wait until you get too hungry! Good luck... I know your journey will begin in a few days. We will be here for you! Karen
-
Good luck Sunsreturn!!! We will be waiting to hear from you on your "return"!! Angela, how are you feeling now?? I am so sorry we didn't get to meet... but hopefully at the holidays! Please take care and keep us posted on your healing. That "weak" feeling has to feel terrible and I hope it left you for good!! You are terrific and I hope you get stronger soon! Karen

Referrals in Los Angeles/Orange County (CA)
L8BloomR replied to Something4Me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, Something4me. Great answer, Kat! I was banded 11 days ago by Dr. Kelly Francis at Orange Coast Memorial in Fountain Vally, right there in Orange County. She is part of a team headed by Dr. LePort, and they also do surgery at Fountain Valley Medical Hospital. They are AWESOME!! My surgical experience could not have been better. I had very little pain, my incisions have given me no problems and I felt great the next day after surgery. I have some unique health issues and they made them seem non-existant because they dealt with them so efficiently. I would recommend them in a heartbeat! Good luck with your decision and keep posting. Karen -
Kickiegirl, I believe that 60 grams is about right, at least by my chart. I understand how you are feeling about your first fill...me too! But we will get through this! Good luck! Karen
-
Vegge, can you try some ZiCam nasal swabs? They will halt almost anything if you start them early enough. I started to catch a cold right before my surgery, and the Zicam got rid of it. Good luck!! This is an emotional and stressful time so it is easy to get sick. :sick Hang in there.... we are pulling for you! Karen
-
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS!! My surgery was 8 days ago, and I feel like you; as if I can eat anything and it wouldn't be a problem. Being one who does NOT want to EVER throw up, I appreciate the test you did... I will believe you and not test it myself.. Thank you!

Poll - Democrat or Republican?
L8BloomR replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You are right---I should not have phrased that last sentence in that way, and I apologize. I should have said "Aren't Republicans entitled to their opinion?" But I still don't see anywhere in this thread where a Democrat's patriotism is in question. I have looked all through it. And there is no implied attack on anyone's morals, either. Where do you see that? The whole point of this thread was to state your political affiliation, and I was pointing out that almost every time a Republican posted, their judgement was questioned, while the opposite never happened. You also say that the Republicans were insulting people personally for stating their opinions, and I don't see that either! Can you please send me the post numbers? I really do want to understand where you are coming from on this. Karen
