That was the one thing I Didnt like about the one I got from Laurens Hope was having to take it off. I think in September Im going to get the one I wanted from James Avery which was around $150 , We have lots of bills right now having to be self pay w/ surgery . So I'll get that for my bday . Plus its more " medical Id" Looking . which I like. But I didnt get the beaded kind I got a plain Black Band from Laurens Hope. Let us know what yours looks like. Sorry Im trying to catch up and not doing a good job at it LOL Mindy

LOL Your welcome, Its probably more info that you wanted. I cant hardly eat anything " pre made" due to my migraines . I wish I could i love Lemonade . Good luck Mindy

Ok just looking kind of quickly . The Fruit punch has several different types of sweeteners in it , as opposed to the lemonade who just has one (Aspertame) which is not real great for you if your susptiable to headaches . But the fruit punch lists about 3 or 4 different types of sweeteners one of them being MSG. So Im betting that is the issue. Just a guess . Now that Ive thought about it .... Other "red" drinks bother me too . Gatorade, Red Kool aid . I wonder if other red drinks have more sweetners in it ? It might be that and the dye combo ? Interesting ... HTH Mindy

you Might want to look at the ingredients, There might be a different kind of sweetener in that specific kind than the other ones. I can drink Country Time Lemonade but no other kind of drinks . It has artifical sweetener in it but I can still drink it. that flavor might have more sweetener in it than the others as well. MSG is a HUGE trigger for me . The problem is MSG is under about 100 different names in ingredients . It might have MSG in it ? Or as someone else said it might be the Red Dye which is really bad for you . I can look and see if i can find the ingredients list and see if i can find anything in regards to the sweetners ? HTH Mindy

Spastic Esophagus BEFORE Surgery ?
coltonwade replied to coltonwade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Anyone have any thoughts ? Thanks -
Its probably the Artificial sweetener in it . I cant drink any of the crystal light type drinks or anything similar to it. Even sweet tea or anything w/ splenda, ect , I have chronic migraines and the artificial sweeteners are horrid on my head. There is a sweetener my nutritionist told me about called Stevia . I have not tried it yet but I plan to its all natural and is suppose to work well . So i plan on getting it my next trip to the store. You might want to try that. Someone told me to try squeezing lemons and using stevia to make lemonade. The artificial stuff i just cant handle. Hope that helps Mindy

You know that's funny you mentioned body pillows. I was at Beds Bath and Beyond the other night and I got one of those pillows that allow you to sit up and lean back w/ the little arms on the side , ( thought it might be good for lap top time post op) and next to them was the body pillows. I thought " humm i wonder if i should get one of those"? Again at walmart last night , I saw them , it was like they were calling to me " get me " LOL I Guess I should go get one now . Thanks for the tip Mindy

Well it can be done w/ arm motions I can get my mom's tread mill over here , that might be a better idea. As for Gordon , I dont like Jr's move to Hendrix, I was all prepared for him to go to Childress. I dont like Gordon , Wont root for him cant make me . :rolleyes:mad: I dont like Johnson either. I respect the move he made as a buisness choice. I have watched Nascar all my life. My girlfriends and I go to the races every yr as a " Girls friends get away " and I cant WAIT To get skinny again . We leave the men at home and pant over the drivers . LOL Its a hoot. So i wont like it next yr w/ Jr as a Hendrix team mate but i'll stick w/ him . LOL Sorry im off my soap box. Mindy

If it makes you feel any better Im drinking the shakes for Breakfast and usually for lunch , just because i dont eat breakfast and lunch much and its hard for me to choke them down . I usually just chug them . I know its not good practice for surgery . but its all i can do to get them down, if i dont im STARVIN MARVIN by noon . I have been drinking Instant Breakfast some in the morning too. Can you have that . That breaks things up SOME . but not much lol Mindy

OH my personality has changed totally . I see it , my husband see's it so do my friends . Im normally a very outgoing , extraverted person. I am still some what outgoing but not like when im thin . For the past 6 yrs I have not wanted to do many things out i public, I have to commit myself to do things w/ friends in order to even get out of the house . I dont do things w/ my husband and kids as a family usually w/ out a fight w/ hubby . The past few yrs have been better. I DREAD going places that I MIGHT run into someone i know from high school or who I havent seen in yrs because they might see my fat. Im not as happy as I was before. I am not as friendly as I was before and not as outgoing . I use to be the "life of the party " the one everyone wanted to be around, the one everyone called when they went out ( Not tyring to be arragont) im just not that person anymore. I know and so does everyone else. Hubby says he wants that person back , so do I . I have lost my sense of myself and my sense of humor along the way . Mindy -
I plan on walking at first , Then when i can exersise post op i plan on yoga Mindy

I totally agree w/ you aubrie, My husband is a "Big strong red neck" kind of a guy. Doesnt and hasnt ever been one to talk about things. Just as an example his mom died 2 yrs ago on HIS Birthday . He cried when he found out and at her funeral that was IT , someone said something to him about not talking about her much , his response was ' Why should I talk about "IT" its done and over w/ its in the past " When I told him about my surgery he didnt say much either. He told me if that's what i wanted to do . The ONLY Thing he has ever said to me about my weight (I was 130ish pds when we met) was if your not happy w/ how you look do something about it or stop complaining " Then one day we got into a huge fight about him not caring about my surgery. he comes in and slaps down a folder. It was FULL of papers he printed out off line ( he's not the most computer literate person either) of lap band info . Turns out he had been researching lap band for several months with out me knowing about it . And one of our customers wants the surgery so he had been talking to him about it also . Men are so weird. they do strange things.LOL I do see how ( and Im not excluding myself from this yet either) couples can encounter some serious probelms post op if they do not communicate . Also if there are ANY kind of trust issues I see the potiential for some issues as well Look forward to talking to ya'll Mindy -
Hi everyone, I sort of introduced myself on the pre op thread but thought I would here as well. My name is Mindy , Im being banded on July 16 in San Antonio Tx But Jorge Rincon MD . Im self pay its costing me $12,000 which includes all fills for a yr. I love my doc he's amazing. I cant belive this is almost here. I have been waiting for nearly 2 yrs for the money to get this done. My husband and I own our own concrete company so we have private health insurance , so self pay was always the only way for us. It would have happened before now but we had an employee ( Cousin actually too) who decided to steal $50,000 from us Feb , JUST the time i was prepared to get my surgery ! So that put the surgery off . I find out the Friday after surgery if he was indicted for embezzlement or not , so that will be a nice present LOL Anyway ..... I am just outside Austin tx Married 7 yrs and have 2 boys, ages 6 and almost 15 ,(He turns 15 the day before my surgery ) . That's all about me look forward to keeping up w/ everyone. Love Mindy

Im curious how many of ya'll who are having problems w/ husbands were thin when ya'll met your husbands ??? I only ask wondering myself... I was 130-140 pds when I met my husband . He knows my personality when I was thin, in fact he has said before he wants that personality back , He see's im not the same person, not happy over wt. So he kind of knows what to expect of me thin. So i was wondering if any of ya'll who are having problems now , were thin previously when you met your husbands and you are still having problems now . Or if this is a case of this truely is a new you and they just didnt know what hit them sort of speak . IF that makes any sense ? Thanks Mindy -
going to the dietician monday
coltonwade replied to tlambright1986's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My dietitian appt was much the same as the above. We went over the pre op diet and post op diet. We went over some changes im allowed to make because of the possibility of migraines post op for me . i have chronic migraines, any change in my routine or system usually throws me into some bad ones. So they are allowing me to add things like protein shakes the first week if i need them . Im going to try not to . My psych e vale was pretty goofy if you ask me lol. My counselor talked more than I did . I filled out the questionnaire that was basically the same 40 questions asked 40 different ways of 160 questions. He asked me " are you an emotional eater " DAH So is 99% of the over wt population " is what i thought. He told me " Your really going to have to watch that w/ the band " It was kind of a joke more of an opportunity to drum up business post op for himself than anything. I told him I would be seeing someone but not him , someone closer to my home in Austin LOL He told me he would approve me so thats all I cared about . Good luck on yours, you will be fine . Love Mindy -
