I was going to stay out of this topic but here i go LOL I have not read through all the comments but most of them I have . I was banded 3 weeks ago . I like alot of others used LBT almost exclusivly to inform me about the band. Frankly if you ask me its one of the best tools out there to let people know what being banded really IS Like . I read the negative posts on the board as well . Why ? because those are things that CAN happen to you after being banded. I went into this feeling 100% informed , more so than had i gone to a doctor and they had told me " this is what you might go thru , you could experience ABC...." The fact of the matter is everyone's experiences IS Different as others have said. I had 1 day 3 days post op where I was in quite a bit of pain . I had one day a week post op where I pretty much lost it , was hungry as all get out and had a mental break down . I do not regret having the surgery . At this point im on semi solids and I can eat anything w/ no problem , i know I have no restriction , I have lost 20 lbs in 5 weeks ( including my pre op) . I have a friend who is a yr out and has NEVER PBed not once . She has never gotten stuck . We have the same doc and our doc is very conservative. Now on to another point. I think the OP is having a hard time right now , looking for some understanding . Maybe she did not go about it the right way , did not express herself the right way but the long run I think that's what she was looking for was some understanding and support. ( NOW I Might be wrong LOL ) Do i think its totally inaccurate to generalize that everyone will only be able to drink Soup and throw up the rest of their life , TOTALLY , But I think it A. shows the frustration in the OP B. Shows she might not be in proper after care hands C need some support Just my 2 cents Mindy

I am sorry you are getting nervous but I think its perfectly normal . I cant say there is anything I would have done differently ... I did not get nervous until the day of surgery , I was sitting in the room waiting to go into surgery , they had me in a recliner and they told me " Dr Rincon wants you to have 2 liters of saline ran through you before you go in " I remeber looking up at those bags and thought " OMG This is going to take FOREVER " They started telling me everything that was going to happen next and my husband said all the color was draining out of my face . LOL I really started to get nervous , but i think it was more anxious . Just kind of get it over w/ already I have waited 2 yrs for this now i have to wait for this damn saline to run through me . Then finally they came and put me on a stretcher and said " This might make you a little light headed" I told dh i loved him and that was all I remeber until I woke up LMAO . I dont regret it , nothing I can say I would do different, Sure had a few second thoughts leading up to it . But NOT now and I am only 3 weeks out of surgery . Hang in there. Hi all . Sorry I have not been on in a while. this thread is so hard to keep up w/ so I wont try LOL I was banded on the 16th and im feeling good . My port incision and the one between my boobs is a bit sore but other than that im feeling good. I need to work on my walking a bit more. Tomorow is my 2 week post op visit so im sure my doc will let me have it about walking then LOL. FINALLY Tomorow ends my 14 days of 3 times a day of heprin injections. THOSE were SO fun let me tell ya . Just wanted to say HI and i hope to be more active on the thread more. Love Mindy

I got my first one of these rashes last yr some time and I was HORRIFIED . I thought OMG IM FINALLLY FAT! Never mind I was 250 and THAT never occured to me . LOL That was on of those , " OH Im one of THOSE people" moments ya know ? I posted about it on here too. I am still getting them I get them under my belly too so bad that they bleed. I usually use Lotrimin . Mindy

This is something I tend to do too , well I did before surgery , Im newly banded and Im still on liquids . But I addressed this issue w/ my nutrionist concerning my pre op diet. Mainly because I am a night owl . I never go to bed before 1 or 2 am . And I told her this , I will have a snack late at night. My "Breakfast " Usually is around 10 or 11 am lunch around 2 or 3 and dinner around 8 . Then a snack late at night around midnight. She told me it was " OK " to have a snack at this time as long as it was a "Good Snack" . But I also am a Hide and eat person. I would eat " ok" during the day but hide my junk eating at night. So I tried the snacking for my pre op and ate things that were better for me and I could do it. It might not be the best thing to do . And I might not be able to do it once im able to eat it solids again ? Having sleep apnea the best thing for me to do would be to go to bed. But over the yrs I have learned that 4 or 5 hours of GOOD sleep w/ my cpap makes me feel JUST as good as 8 hours off my cpap or even ON My cpap for 8 hours. So I adjusted . sorry im rambling. While we are on the subject. .... I'll ask ... I was banded on the 16th . Is it to be expected that my BM's are watery or at the very best very loose ? im guessing yes since I am "Drinking" most of my food. But is this to be expected ? I have even had a few " accidents" SO embarrased, luckily I was at home. But anyone else have this issue. I also have IBS ( Irritable bowel so i suspect that might have a small portion to do w/ it ) t Thanks Mindy :car:

HI all I was banded yesterday FINALLY . But was wondering if anyone else had this going on post op ? Ok this might sound like a strange question but i want to make sure im not nuts. Im sure its because I am not bringing in as much liquids as I have been in the previous days. But I have been feeling like I need to pee really bad , then when I go to go to the bathroom i just trickle out a little , Then i'll go walk about some and I have to go more. Im thinking it might be because my stomach muscles are kind of weak and are not pushing "like they use to " has anyone else had this feeling ? Just want to make sure its nothing to worry about . Thanks , If im still having problems tomorow I think i'll call the doc just to be safe. BUt its slowly getting better. I have more output today than I did yesterday . Mindy

Thanks Faith, Although that does not sound at all appetizing right now I might have to give it a try . LOL the apple prune juice I might be able to stomach but prunes themself ??? I dunno. Thanks again Mindy

Thanks Chris, I am taking the liquid. I am only taking it if I have to . I have taken it maybe 3 times since I have been home. I am very Leary about vicodin post op anyway . My mom had a Upper and lower bowel obstruction a few yrs ago . They believe one of the contributing factors was the vicodin she was on a few weeks earlier from her gallbladder surgery . Her docs said that vicodin sucks that water out of ur system . They think she had started to become blocked and the Vicodin sucked the water out of what ever was causing the obstruction . Long story short, she almost died and spent 3 weeks in the hospital . So i am very cautious of the stuff. I have been taking some Tylenol. So I'll have to keep an eye on it. Thanks Jeannie, I do not think I had a catheter . I dont remeber them putting one in . IF they did they took it out before I woke up . But im assuming its just from surgery slowing things down. Thanks again , im not really worried about it now . If everyone said " oh no dont know what your talking about " i would be worried . Love mindy

I have told most people Im close to , My friends family , ect. Someone had told my grand mother quite some time ago that I was thinking of having it done and she had some pretty negative things to say . I pretty much told her what i thought of it . She called tonight to tell my son happy birthday ( I assumed my dad told her my surgery is Monday ) ... NOT . He didnt. So when I said something about it her comment was" OH Mindy are you SURE You want to do that " I told her " LOOK I am doing this , if you dont agree w/ it that's your right I however do not want to hear anything negative ESPICALLY 3 days before my surgery so keep them to yourself" See my DAD was too CHICKEN to say anything to his mother about it because he didnt want to hear it from her. I Dont really care who knows . Both of my parents however are choosing to NOT tell people. I did tell them though , if those people find out from ME That's YOUR Problem LOL Mindy

This is a specific Exercise Game for the Wii which is why I posted it . It comes w/ a "pad " that you can do yoga , push ups , step aerobics, it has about 40 mini games w/ it . It has not come out yet. I imagine its going to be hard to find at first. Thanks for the other thread Mindy

After our conversations I picked a few of these up the other day . I picked up the ice tea and the Lemonade. I can use the lemonade if i use half of the package but the ice tea and the full package of lemonade gives me a migraine . I SO Hate my migraines I cant eat or drink "Normal" stuff. On the upside I found the Stevia Sweetner so im going to try that. "red' Stuff for some reason gives people trouble. Next time i'll have to ask my doc if he know's what the reason is ? Mindy

Does anyone else feel like they are not doing well on the pre op ? I think im doing OK but not well enough . IM more afraid of my liver not being small enough . For Some reason I have that stuck in my head. Im seriously considering doing a all liquid 2 days before surgery . Im cheating here and there , nothing major no binges like Saturday I had half a donut for breakfast. But I feel like im not doing something right. I have never been able to loose weight due to PCOS so the fact that ive been able to loose 6lbs in 2 weeks should be great. But nothings has come off since the first week. Im drinking more water than i have ever drank in my life . I just feel like im not doing well ? Anyone else feel this way ? HELP Mindy

From what I can gather from what he's told me so far , ( I have had this problem as well ) It really seems like the issue is when he doesnt chew his food well ( Although I dont think he realizes this is the issue ? Im guessing) it gets stuck or feels like its stuck in his throat and sends shooting pains across his chest . . I'll try to find out some more info . Thanks for your response . Mindy

My BIL Is checking into having lap band surgery . As I have been telling him about it one of the things he's a bit worried about is he has a Spastic Esophagus now. So im wondering if anyone has this prior to surgery and if it affected your surgery at all . Made it worse, made it better ? Anything . I have been searching the threads and I see some peoples esophagus' become spastic post op . But I dont see anything that says anyone had this condition prior to surgery . Thanks for your help Mindy

8 1/2 More Days until Surgery !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW I cant belielve its that soon . It seems like forever though at the same time. I hope this week goes by fast. I think it will I have lots of stuff to do . My sons 15th Birth day is the day before my surgery so i have stuff to do for his bday . Friends want to take me to "lunch" i guess they think i cant eat ever again after surgery lol . OOHHHHH Its happening soon . Im trying to catch up , geez ya'll are quick typers ! LOL Love mindy

Hell I cant do that now and I havent had surgery yet !!! ROFLMAO I cant paint my toes w/ out cutting off circulation to my head .!!!!!!!!!! I carry my weight in my stomach too thanks to good ole PCOS . People mistake me for being pregnant even before surgery . In fact that was the last straw for me. I saw an old friend of mine( male of course) he touched my stomach and said " How far along are you " I told him " Im not pregnant " He said " OH sorry the only time ive seen you THAT Big was when you were pregnant" OHHH GAWD I was horrified . That was the last straw for me , that's when I started looking into surgery . Im going tomorow for a pedi before surgery !LOL mindy

I have a list of dream clothes LOL Im w/ the Victorias Secret . I HATE Bras and I hate underwires. Victorias Secret Has a " No Wire" under Wire Bra that Looks SO comfy , from what I hear it is . But guess what , doesnt come in my size. So I want one of those . A pair of cute jeans , and those cute tank tops everyone wears now . OH and those cute tank top loose fitting dresses the "younger" 20ish girls wear now . LOL Those are my tops on the list . I have a 15 yr old sister and I go to Old Navy w/ her all the time I would LOVE to go in there w/ her and not feel like everyone is looking at me like " What are you doing in here fat a$$ " Mindy
