  1. Im curious to know : how many of ya'll who are banded and feel that your losing slowly eat carbs on a regular basis ? Mindy
  2. Hi coco , I did not chose my band my doc did . He choses them once he's inside doing the surgery and looks at your anatomy ( Personally the way I think it should be , I dont think the patient shoudl chose the band in my opinion ) but i have a 4 CC Inamed band .

feel free to email me if you have any questions.

  3. The fills will do that . Keep you ful longer and get you there faster. even fills that are not very much can help with that for a little while at least. I was not meaning you specificlaly . But alot of people you see post on here will post " I am not losing i have had one fill , or its been 2 weeks I have not lost any weight since my surgery " you have to have the fills to get the restriction , you have to have restriction for the band to work . It will come in time dont worry . Just try to be patient. Eat LOTS Of Protein , the protein will keep you full. HTH Mindy
  4. I agree with Chocolate. what people do not understand is you WILL LOSE your "Sweet Spot" . It will come and go as you get a fill and then lose weight you need another fill. Your TRUE Sweet spot does not come until your at goal and you can maintain, eat small portions and dont gain or lose. That is the TRUE Sweet Spot. I think people have this mis guided notion that they will get that ONE fill and that's it , your done. It does not ( at least for me ) work that way . If you lose the "Sweet spot" you have to "find" it again .

    Not Slippage or Erosion

Flouro/ barrium swallow the same thing. You might want to have him check your gallbladder just to be safe. I hope you figure out what is going on . It sounds like that you have a slip but he should have found it if he uses Flouro/ Barrium Swallow . <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

    Not Slippage or Erosion

Ok dumb question but ya never know . Im assuming the doc checked the band under flouro ? Mindy

    What is going on??

Speaking from someone who has slipped her band TWICE , GET TO THE DOC. It sounds like your having some reflux possibly . Look at it this way , what is better , stalling on the weight loss for a while or risking losing your band becasue its slipped ? Dont wait . I cant stress this enough . If your too tight YOU HAVE TO GO In, your doc is there for a reason . And in actuality you can STOP losing because your not getting in enough calories from being too tight. GO TO THE DOC Mindy

    Not Slippage or Erosion

do you still have your gallbladder ? Mindy
  9. Yes when you get a fill you will feel full quicker and stay full longer . The fill will give you the early "warning" your looking for. But you have to be patient. its like the other poster said some people do not get restriction for several fills. I too got it from the very first one. I know its hard but try to be patient . Mindy

    Macaroni and Cheese during Mushies?

Honestly i would not even TRY either one. Rice and Pasta are known foods that can cause you to get stuck. Even though you do not have restriction i would not try it yet. Try these for your "cheese fix" Guacamole, re fried Beans, picante sauce and Cheez whiz melted( the kind in the jar ) layer them and eat them like " dip" just with out chips. its YUMMY . You might try some brocolie and cheese Soup . I can give you some more ideas if you want ? Mindy

    Gaining weight before 1st fill...HELP!

First off if your only a few weeks out of surgery DONT WORRY ! Meaning, The first 6 weeks post op is about healing NOT losing weight. I know I know " WTF" you think ? I know we had this surgery to lose weight. HOWEVER you have to heal FIRST. Worry about weight loss AFTER your first fill . The time between your first fill and surgery is known as banster hell . And its for a reason. you WILL Be hungry . However after you get a fill it will help with that. So worry about healling , eating the proper diet , moving the stages up as you are suppose to and weight loss will come later ! Mindy

    mushy on the go

Another idea for Mushies at a restaurant is re fried beans , layered with Guacamole and cheese. The beans have lots of protein in them . or tortilla soup ask them to blend it . Lots of resturants will do things you dont think they would. such as blend soups for you . But my personal favorite is refried beans, quacamole and cheese with some hot sauce on it . Its YUMMY ! Another option is Chili or soups again ask them to blend it . HTH Mindy
  16. "restriction " can be a hard thing to judge. And its different for alot of people. ME personally I would say what you have now is pretty good. In a week or so you might need a little more. But me personally I dont and wotn keep my band so tight that I can only eat a FEW bites. THAT messes with my head too much and from what i have seen is usually TOO tight. If your getting hungry after 3-4 hours after eating I would say your probably pretty good. You really dont want to eat so much that your stuffed. You want to eat until your satisfied. For me personally that is when im sitting there going " Should i eat more i COULD " that is when its time to stop . If you let it "Sit" for a while I usually find im "ful" . Hope that helps. Feel free to Email me if you like. Mindy

I only Dry Heave - Not Throw Up

Honestly it sounds like you might be too tight . I dont know . But you might want to talk to the doc about . My rule of thumb .. if i cant eat solid foods comfortably im too tight. 1oz of meat is not really enough . either that or i would say maybe this particular fill is going to take a while to get use to ? I dunno this is a stumper for me i think ? You can email me if you want . Mindy

    Throwing away food - Help!

Thanks . I love my new hair cut myself. SO much easier ! . Its just easier, better for me to just throw the food away . if its alot , obviously i keep it , try to make more meals out of it. Another option is , if you have enough for another meal or 2 all together , is freeze it . So its out of the way , out of sight right away .

I only Dry Heave - Not Throw Up

Im wondering if this is your " Soft " stop sign . Meaning you need to try stop eating a little before you are now ? there is a very thin line between full and statisfied. its so hard at first to get use to it. Some people's ( mine included) nose runs when they are "full' But if i stop before im full it wont. Are you able to eat solid foods "Normally" with out issues other than this ? you might also have first bite syndrome ? I would try eating slower, eat a little stop , let it settle eat a little more . See what happens. ? This is how i have to eat most of the time . I would ask your doc too thought. Mindy

    Throwing away food - Help!

I actually am the opposite. at first , shortly after surgery i would bring home left overs from resturants, ect .. But it became an issue for 2 reasons. One if i knew the food was in there in the fridge I would tend to go back and eat more when i really was not hungry or need to . The other issue is some things just dont keep well or taste well OR are not "band friendly " when warmed up . So what I do know , when at home is as SOON as we are done eating if there are ANY left overs they are either thrown OUT or put up . Any small amount of left overs , meaning not enough for a full other meal is gone . Left overs from resturants, i dont even bring them home anymore. I try to order from the kids menu or seniors menu so i dont even have them . How do you get to that point ? I use to think of it like this ... If you keep eating and keep eating your going to throw up . Or if you keep eating when you should not your going to gain weight. So it was not worth it to me . I would imagine my band slipping from over eating. So the "cost" of a problem from that out weighted the staisfaction of having that extra few bites laying around tempting me to eat it ? Does that make sense ? I probably did not explain that well . Mindy

I only Dry Heave - Not Throw Up

I am not sure why you do that . However the "act" of throwing up , dry heaving can be and do just as much damage as actually throwing up . It can from my understanding cause a band to slip as well because of the "action " makes or causes the stomach to do . So i would suggest talking to your doctor about . Are you drinking when you eat by chance ? I would talk to your doc about it . Mindy
  22. Let me tell ya in 10 yrs of being morbidly obese I lost a total of 20 pounds i think. NOTHING worked for me. I also have PCOS . My OB told me " Mindy you WONT lose weight on your own it just wont come off" I had the surgery and expected to lose and that was it ! NO ON In the WORLD was more shocked than ME ( Ok maybe my OB ) that I lost 105 pounds in 10 months ! I am the MOST negative person . The BEST advice i can give you is this . expect NOTHING but to LOSE . AND follow the doctors orders to a T ! If you do those 2 things you WILL do this ! If i can do this band thing anyone can LOL Mindy

    eating too much??

I would say this is "normal" . Your probably not on much "food' so its not going to get much better. To be honest. but hang in there. Once you get your first fill it will be better. My suggestion follow your doctors orders , eat as often as you can or are allowed to and stay hydrated ! HTH Mindy

    Full Liquids

First off congrats on the surgery . Second off if your doc says to AVOID certain foods AVOID them. The post op diet is not for weight loss its to allow your stomach to heal so that you can form scar tissue around your band , its ESSENTIAL for the longevity of your band. Its not a suggestion its a MUST . Now that being said ...I would call him if your unsure of what you can and cant eat and ask ! Dont guess. Some docs allow some things others do not . For me Full liquids was anything the consitancy you could suck through a straw ( but dont ) so things like spaghetti sauce, soup. BUT You have to ask if your not sure. Ask them for alits of DO"s and DONT's. Good luck you can make it !!! mindy
