  1. Umm Im sorry honey but i think YOU have the Burr in YOUR saddle. Wasa simply stated why she did not agree with YOU . I dont see ANY REASON why you need to get so pissy with her or anyone else ? I am just as happy with my surgeron as the next person , but I also do not think that MY Doc is the ONLY doc or the ONLY way to go . I dont belive that since i was banded in the US that Mexico is Crap either. If you can afford to travel to Co and get your fills and you can see your family I think that is just fine and wonderful. I think you need to reread things before you speak because WASA was in NO WAY UGLY and in NO WAY Deserved what you just handed out to her . Mindy .

What to do with your old clothes?

I think the best thing to do is to run it by a moderator/owner and see what they think ? Im thinkng there is a reason why its not up yet ? Mindy
  3. LMAO I guess I should have finished reading your post before i posted ! Mindy
  4. You would be surprised how many US docs are NOT Trained in the US . my surgeon , i had surgery in San Antonio TX was trained by a Mexican Doc. He's an EXCELLENT Surgeon . Lots of docs go over seas to get their education and then come to the US to practice. US does not always mean better. Like WASA said Dr K is a great doc from what i have seen and heard but JUST because he's a US doc or anyone else is a US doc does NOT make him superior to someone trained out side the US. HTH Mindy

What to do with your old clothes?

I see someone suggested it in the LBT Suggestions thread but it does not look like anything came out of it ? I think it would be a HUGE hit. I do something similiar with one of my other groups Im on and its saved me quite a bit of money . Mindy

    What's wrong with me?

I agree with WASA I think you already said what your main problem is . Your NOT EXERCISING ! If you look at others like you said who had surgery before or after you and have lost more weight then you , i can all but gurantee you that they are moving. I HATE Exercising more than anything. But I do it . I know if i dont my scale stops moving. And lets face it no one wants to do it MORE than you have to . So once you start doing it you will get a feel out of what you HAVE To do and what you Dont HAVE To do to keep the scale moving. For me 2-3 days a week and is good for me . If i dont do anything my scale wont move. So stop beating yourself up and GET MOVING !!!! Mindy

Self Pay & No insurance? - Interesting tidbit

The explanation they gave me was because of "possible complactions that might come up " and a STUPID example they gave was say i ended up with Osteoporosis , they would have no way of knowing if it was due to the "malabsorbstion of the Vitamin D from the lap band " or if i just came down with the osteoporosis . I told my agent that's not even an ISSUE for lap band patients. She said well that's what the underwriter told me . Basically they dont want to cover it so they dont have it. She did say once lap band surgery had been around in the US for about 10 yrs that it might change. The insurance industry likes to look at 10 yrs of results. As of 3 weeks or so of looking I cant find anyone to cover me with it ! Mindy

Self Pay & No insurance? - Interesting tidbit

I beive its called a Mini Med policy i looked into it too but not all policies cover it. Also most of the time you have to pay for it first. Also just FYI since you said your not employed and do not have insurnace as of right now . If you do not plan on getting on a group plan after your surgery or if you need insurance soon , get it before surgery . After surgery its nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get insurance , I have not found a plan that will cover me . Im deemed " Permanatly Un insurable" now that i have my lap band with private health insurance with my insurance agent ( Stat Farm ) and the insurance they carry . I have to be on the Texas High Risk Health Pool Insurance . Group plans have to cover you because they do not have pre existing conditions clause. SO anyway just wanted to give you a heads up . Mindy

    Rewards....help please

Your looking for an individual personal trainer ? I used one the first 2 or 3 months after being banded. I really liked it. Its not cheap though . but my trainer had a deal where you could go w/ others she trained and make it cheaper for you for small group work outs ? you might check into that ? Mindy

    Help. HEADACHE

I take Wellbutrin ( about the size of an M&M ) I cut it in half every morning. There are some days i have trouble with that. 7 months post op I still would not dream of taking pills whole. I DO take my topamax whole but they are the size of well they are as small as these little smileys I cant cut those though . and going off that was not an option for my migraines. I DID run into a problem with those my last fill when i was too tight i had to go in for an unfill though . Still gonna go try the Rapid Blasts LOL Mindy

    Help. HEADACHE

I would not have been able to get a whole ANYTHING down 4 days after surgery , I would have been in BIG Trouble with my stomach AND MY DOC. I agree always follow YOUR DOCTORS ADVICE ! Mindy

    Hi from TX!

All the medical loans are different. Some places if you get a loan for $7500 they charge so many fees your doctor only gets $6000 so you have to make up the difference. Most of them dont even let you put down payments so that does not help you . You can make $1000 payment up front OR what would be better is if you have $1000 cash if your surgery is $7500 only get a loan for $6500. Your best bet is to try to get a loan from a bank or a Credit union if you can. My loan was for $8000 and my payments are $340 a month . My interest rate is HIGH . HTH Mindy

    Help. HEADACHE

I had no idea there was adult strenght liquid tylenol. You said Walmart has it ? Another option is the Tylenol Meltaway Jr's ? I usually take 2 of those. They are a little sweet but not as sweet as the children's. I have chronic Migraines , usually the first thing i would do is take 800 mg of Aleve to see if that will help get rid of it before taking my RX meds. I cant do that anymore. So Im going to see if i can find the Adult strength Tylenol tomorrow . Thanks MIndy

    Help. HEADACHE

I would NOT Suggest this since she was banded just 4 days Ago . Every doc is different and since HER DOC told her to take liquids that is what she would do . If your doc told you to crush meds or take liquid med then that is what I would do . When in doubt make a call to your doc. So many docs have different recommendations. There are reasons for THEIR policies. Mindy

    Hi from TX!

For this type of loans 9.5 is not high . These type of loans are more of "High" Risk type loans so they tend to run higher interest rates. You were VERY lucky. If you went through your bank or something that is probably why you got such a good deal . To actually go through medicredit.com or some place like that your rates are going to be MUCH higher . If your credit score is below about 620 you most likely will not be able to get a loan through the finance companies the docs use . I had to go through all this and i know more about credit than I care to thanks to my bankruptcy. You can find our your credit score by going to myFICO - FICO Credit Scores | Get a Free Credit Report Online and paying for it. The other credit type monitoring sites are NOT REAL Fico scores they are called FAKO scores. if you know what your FICO is you have a better chance of knowing what you can get if you can get a loan ? If anyone has any questions Email me i can see if i can help out . It took me over a yr to clean up my credit enough to be able to get a loan for surgery . HTH Mindy

    Hi from TX!

Just curious how many bands has he done ? Mindy
  24. coltonwade

    Hi from TX!

Just an FYI about a few things. You must have pretty good to excellent credit. I have "Decent Credit" but do have a bankcruptcy my intrest rate on my loan was 17% ! However if i pay it off in the first yr any interest paid is refunded. I too stayed in the states. But realize not everyone can afford it. As far as saving on insurance premiums. Make SURE if you have a group plan you do NOT Go off it or you do not ever plan on getting private health insurance while you have the band. Im 7 months out and as of yet I have not found a private health insurance company to insure me with the band. I was denied before due to my weight. SO im on the TExas high risk health plan in which i pay $309 a month JUST FOR ME ! So dont count on being able to get insurance so easy after banding. If you dont have insurance now GET IT Before you get the band! As for financing. Most docs offices in Mexico have finance companies they use . A good source of info is this thread that a member create for this purpose : http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f11/researching-mexican-doctors-101-a-43575/ Anyway HTH Mindy
