I had my son in high school , so Im only 16 yrs older than him , things were NOT Like this when i was in high school. And dont GET me started on how big of SLUTS Girls are now !!! OMG they have NO Self respect for themselves. Its no wonder so many woman are over weight and have wt issues. Im sorry those kids were so mean to you . Pushing buttons is right. But try not to let them get to you , most of it has to come odwn to the parents not teaching them anything , let along RESPECT for anyone else . Cheer up your doing great !! Mindy -
Frustrated and depressed
coltonwade replied to HopefulinTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For those of you who are 6 weeks post op PLEASE remember one thing ... the first 6 weeks is about HEALING NOT WEIGHT LOSS. I do NOT know why Docs do not emphasis this more than they do . But You should not be worrying about weight loss right now , you need to worry about healing and recouping from surgery . Once you get your fill worry about weight loss !!! IF you lose post op its a bonus and be happy if you do not , its OK . Your recovering from a surgery !!! So do not be disappointed that your not losing weight 9 days post op ! Mindy -

How important is PS Lap Band experience?
coltonwade replied to general_antiope's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
What were the before pictures like ? Were the patients lop sided before ? If they were then chances are they are going to be lopsided after . In other words my doc said " dont walk in my office with a pic of some one elses boobs and say " i want these" because your anatomy dictates what your breast aug will look like. Here is the website for the plastic surgeon im going to use. Even though he's in Austin the site itself is VERY informative . And if a picture looks " off " the site explains why . Which is what i liked. Plastic surgery Austin, Texas | Westlake Plastic Surgery If you look under " Dr Caridi" there are a bunch of very informative articles about how to chose a surgeon and other helpful info HTH Mindy -
Three things that are driving me absolutely BATTY in these forums!!
coltonwade replied to Fanny Adams's topic in Rants & Raves
Surgeons only have so much time to sit and talk to each patient. That's why they started doing the seminars. Frankly I think they should take it a step further and say " Ok you decided to have lap band here is a lap band seminar " and go into even greater detail about each surgery . But I agree Its not fair to sit back and place all the blame on the surgeon . I have a doctor that is very good at making things clear, spelling things out giving as much detail as he can . And he cant tell me EVERYTHING. He also KNEW I was researching and talking to others for well over a YEAR before I ever saw him . I am with you i want to ask people did you even Research anything before they went and had this surgery . I went into the OR very confident that i knew jsut about everything I could about this surgery that someone could with out actually having the surgery . I cant imagine going into it NOT feeling that way . Mindy -
LMAO Molly is right. In all honesty it does not take MUCH to get them going !:thumbup: Mindy

coltonwade replied to Fanny Adams's topic in Rants & Raves
Fanny , What a Sweety , There are not many people on this board that would first admit to being a bit " Bitchy" LOL then say they were sorry ! Thanks for doing that !! Great Thread so far ! Mindy -
How important is PS Lap Band experience?
coltonwade replied to general_antiope's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I will tell you something the PS i want to use told me ... Dont rely on the websites for making a choice . the pictures are usually the BEST work and even then it does not accoutn for any flaws you might see. The PS I use has explanations of why things look the way they do on his site. I am more picky about my PS than my lap band surgeon too . So i would go meet them first . HTH Mindy -

Does your doctor recommend anyone . Also what worries you about the port? If your port needs to be moved have you considered having your band doc do it ? have you checked on this board to see any recommendations on hre for a good surgeon ? word of mouth is the best ! I would start with your doc first , see who he recommends if he actually KNOWS any docs personally that he likes ? Mindy -
ROFLMAO That's funny . What about Dirty Text Messages while he's at work ? I also PMed ya too . This thread did not stay inactive long !! mindy

Three things that are driving me absolutely BATTY in these forums!!
coltonwade replied to Fanny Adams's topic in Rants & Raves
One thing that drives me BATTY (cause i just came across one) is I have not figured out if its not the docs educating patients or the patients not paying attention . But basic Banding rules and "orders" people seem to come on here and ask as if their doc never even told them !!! What is up with that ? Mindy -
Sleeping on my stomach
coltonwade replied to beachygirl2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use to have a feeling that something was against my ribs too . I know now it was not my port. I am not sure what it was ? But I know others said they felt that as well. I would think its ok to sleep on your stomach ? But if your worried you might want to double check with your doc just in case. Im a side sleeper to it was never an issue for me. Good luck sounds like your doing well so far ! Mindy -

NO harm no foul Tommy . Just wanted to nip it before it got out of hand. And I think your right. People assume a post is at them when it may not be . the other problem in emails is you cant read peoples emotions . So you cant tell if someone is being smart a$$ or laughing , joking ect. Anyway ... Please all carry on w/ the thread , i dont want to kill it at all. Just wanted to make sure no one was attacking each other before it started. So Carry on !!! Mindy -
Drinking Too Much or Big Air Bubbles
coltonwade replied to samlaj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not heard that but I never drank or made smoothies . Have you tried just using the " chop" mode or something in the blender or "pulsing " it ? instead of full out blending ? Also there are those wand blenders I dont know if those are any better or not ? I would think Pulsing it might help a bit ? HTH Mindy -

Ok let me step in before this gets out of hand .... the rules still apply in the RR section . Rule 5. Members will treat each other with courtesy and respect, especially when they disagree. We understand that bright, intelligent and educated people may not always agree, but personal attacks in the form of insults, abusive language or other means of obvious harassment will not be tolerated. Just be nice ya'll !!! If you want to speak to each other personally take it off the boards please! Now Carry on !! Mindy -

I think your Right Tommy O about a cycle that goes on . But honestly some people need to really think about what they post i think . Not only that I sometimes want to write " SEARCH FEATURE PEOPLE USE THE SEARCH FEATURE " LOL Sometimes though as "Old timers" and that im not others have been here longer its good just to vent . Its not meant to offend anyone. thats why its in the RR Section !! Mindy -
help me narrow down mexico surgeon choice
coltonwade replied to djpfeils's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
If you go to the ER WASA .. Dont they HAVE TO Treat you ? A doc cant refuse treatment on a patient in distress can they ? I would think that is against their code ? could be wrong . Not saying your wrong Stella saying the DOC was wrong if he did that . Mindy -
2 weeks post op...is it okay to exercise
coltonwade replied to melliott74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Sugrbear I was told walking until 6 weeks post op then i could go for "working out" lifting weights type stuff . Personally i dont know that i would do anything more than walking until at least 4 weeks . at 2 weeks i dont think your healed enough and I think you risk hurting something , but that's just my opinion ? OH I was also told not to lift anything over 20 pds for the first 6 weeks. HTH Mindy -
Drinking Too Much or Big Air Bubbles
coltonwade replied to samlaj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Straws make me drink faster. So I would stay away from them , im guessing that might have been your issue ? I drank out of normal cups then like i said took a drink exhaled and swallowed. You almost have to slow down when you drink too . easy ? I dont know how to answer that ? Does it happen yes. But If you follow the rules its LESS likely to happen . I dont know if anyone really knows why bands slip . But following the rules sure helps prevent them . HTH MIndy
