I promise if i thought i was in trouble i would be in there now . But I think im good until Monday on liquids. Should I be worried ? Anyone who has had a slip ?
coltonwade replied to coltonwade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
thank you Susan for answering my post. no he has not done a flouro last time he was not at all worried about a slip . He did however totally unfill me because i was getting acid reflux , it just started that day . He wants me to come in Monday , unless I start to not be able to keep liquids down and he'll have me in this weekend, But right now im fine on liquids, I want him to check under flouro to make sure the band is ok. Just to make me feel better and he will , he's great about that. My band becomes aggervated so easily and i become so swollen so easily its hard to know .. I have kept him informed , i waited about a week before i called him , But he's informed know's what's going and he's great. So i'll be in there Monday unless things change drastically . I have always heard " OH You will KNOW when your band slips " BUT Throwing up as much as i have lately I KNOW is a iffy thing . BUT I also know that MOST Slips can be fixed by unfills. do you know what caused yoru slipps ? Or what lead up to them ? So thanks for the help Mindy -
Curious. why do you need inspiration for a fill ? have you not been getting them ? Welcome to the board ! Mindy

Who eats Carbs and is banded
coltonwade replied to coltonwade's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
A- which is not very common so wonder what the hell that means LOL Also I do NOT Count anything, Unless I stop losing which has only happened to me once in over a yr. I do not count carbs, I do not count protein , I simple watch what i eat. I think going on "Diets" after the band is just silly ! Mindy -
Who eats Carbs and is banded
coltonwade replied to coltonwade's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I do not think EVERYONE needs to do a low carb diet. HOWEVER , I do think that for people who have PCOS and are over weight , or struggle w/ their weight Carbs are A , not the only , but A big reason for being over weight and if they are limited it can drastically affect their weight loss. I do not totally eliminate carbs, I eat veggies and on occasion if i am at out and its a "good" day band wise, I will have a bit of food. But there have been research that shows Carbs and PCOS do NOT Mix, I did not set out to be "Carb "free my band kind of dictated this. I think there are a lot of us who have PCOS and many others who do not realize they have it because their docs do not regonize it . But I think if someone has PCOS and they are sturggling to lose and they eat carbs , an option is to try to reduce the amount they eat and see what happens. It is true everyone is very different . FYI, Protein drinks are Great for post op , But try not to get "use" to drinking them on a regular basis. You want to eat your protein , get your protein from Solid sources. I am sure that is what you meant but just wanted to clarify . A lot of people "eat around their band" after post op and rely on protein drinks and that is now what the band is for . HTH Mindy -
something I have to get off my chest.....I HATE PCOS!!!
coltonwade replied to ThinDolphin3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Blood tests alone are not typically enough to diagnose PCOS. For instance , if your hormone levels are elevated BUT you do not have missed periods, excess hair growth , weight around the middle or any other symptoms of PCOS you wont be , or shouldn't be diagnosed w/ PCOS. PCOS Of Symptomatic , if you have the symptoms (more than one ) you have PCOS. BUT the MAIN symptom if missed periods. There is NO ONE Blood test to test for PCOS. Mindy -
I have had my gallbladder out . It seems some people expereince different attack symtpoms , The most common is some people feel it more in their chest. Mine felt like Labor pains or contractions and radiated to my back. Did you eat anything greasy or lots of veggies ? I would call your doc. Because if it is your gallbladder which is very likely if your recently banded and lost weight, eventually the attacks get more frequent . Mindy

coltonwade replied to ThinDolphin3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It honestly is not a great idea if its not really needed. its not good for us to be on hormones that long. There is a link or a connection w/ hormone replacement therapy and breast cancer. She explained all that to me and i realize it. But my periods have gotten " better" since surgery , they are more frequent , not that thats' a great thing, and they are more "Manageable" meaning they are not as heavy and painful. So that does help Mindy -

I asked my doc for a hysto about 2 yrs ago and she wouldn't do it . She told me the risks of being on hormones at 30 is too dangerous . To have to be on them that long. So no go on that lol -

I REALLY believe the carbs or lack of carbs is the key to my weight loss. It almost has to be. For so many yrs i heard " NO CARBS NO CARBS PCOS AND CARBS ARE BAD BAD" and I never really listened. Now w' the band not being able to have them. the weight is coming off nicely , except these last 25 pds are a B ! LOL But Afrer i had my total unfill and i COULD eat Carbs again I saw what they did to me . they made me crave junk , I gained , I AM NOT KIDIDNG Either 5 lbs in ONE WEEKEND from eating breads and pastas, So that tellls me they had a BIG part of my weight loss and gain. I too occasionlly at the end of a meal eat a bit of Pasta or a bite of bread but not very often . Mindy -
Anyone else Dr. Marquez in Austin????
coltonwade replied to plakeway's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Most docs require some form of a pre op diet. I dont know of any that dont actually . Weather its full liquids or high protein low carb ? I am not sure , one of Dr M's patients will know . But most of them yes require a pre op diet HTH Mindy -
I have heard that works as well Mindy

The enzymes honestly , i am not sure what they do or how they work ? I heard it has something to do breaking down the food. SO you might try it and see if it helps you now ? It cant hurt ? HTH Mindy

Sliming is cause by your body producing mucus to try to get the food out that's stuck .Its trying to lube you up ( for lack of a better word) so it either goes out or down . LOL Nice huh Mindy

Funny how this is your first post and you have been a member since may of 08 ! Dr H's "Patients" tend to come out of the wood work to defend him yet they are no where around posting day to day routines like others. But Like i said RESEARCH !!! Mindy -

If you have really good restriction there is no place for the liquid to go and the liquid sort of compacts the food . It makes it MUCH Worse and will probably make you throw up. When it happened to me my husband ran into the room , he thought i was choking and i thought i was dying . It was VERY Painful , MUCH MUCH worse than just being stuck !
