It sounds like the issue is you have not had a fill in 2 months. The band is a tool, it wont work if you dont use it . The band wont work as a tool with out the fills ( for most people) you say your hungry , the fills and the band control hunger. As for the weight gain, you said yourself you are probably eating slider foods. Slider foods or eating around your band is usually done by high calorie / low in Protein foods. So that can cause weight gain . Also when you work out you sometimes gain muscle at first , that can cause weight gain. You can eat a whole bowl of salad because you need a fill. Mindy

Sounds like to me your living on liquids for the most part. You said when you wake up you have sinus drainage ? do you take anything for that ? Sinus drainage /allergies can cause issues with your band. Are you getting too large of an unfill when you get unfills ? It does sound like your too tight. I am very sensitive to fills. So if I get say a .50 cc unfill when i go back for a fill i get .25 put back in . Feel free to email me if you want coltonwade@gmail.com Mindy

Fill Centers USA ... problems and questions
coltonwade replied to delrio's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you go back next time and you have less than 8cc's I would question it. I do not believe it is normal to lose saline EVERY TIME you have a fill ! A tiny tiny amount maybe ? But I have had the exact same amount every time i have gone back for my fills! Some of the liquid can be trapped in the line between the port and the band, some might be air. But not every single time. proctor or not docs can make mistakes. its up to us to question them as well. So if you have less than 8cc's next time I would ask him to check your band under flouro just to b e sure ! Mindy -

I will jump in on this and first off say I totally 100% agree w/ everything Beth said. It has nothing to do w/ being negative it has to do w/ being REALISTIC and honest. It does NO ONE any good to say " OH DEAR you went against your doctors ORDERS, after having a major procedure done when your stomach was suppose to rest for up to 4 WEEKS and ate a WHOLE BURGER AND Pasta 48 hours later . Let me hold your hand and tell you your going to be fine " I personally wont do it . I WILL tell you because this is usually what happens, Someone asks " Did i mess things up " I wil say " YES YOU PROBABLY DID OR YOU COULD HAVE what the hell did you think was going to happen" The 100% honest truth is , your either ready to commit to this or your not . Sorry that's what it boils down too. And if you honestly can not 100% keep yourself from eating a burger 48 hours after surgery , then you need help . Anyone does. GREAT it did not compel YOU To eat a burger, But it does not mean it wont compel another newbie ! After being on this site for 3 yrs , people come on here and look for validation for their bad choices. they want people to tell them its ok. All it takes is to see ONE post like this and someone to see " OH LOOK they ate a burger she was "Ok" I can do it too" Your brother is a doctor ? Great, Ask him how he would handle someone who went against HIS Medical advice 48 hours after his surgery . Is your brother YOUR SURGEON ? His advice might be different from your doctors. Your docs advice might be differnt than mine . further more its NOT PREACHING , its EXPERIENCE. Dont come on here and get pissy because you didnt hear what you wanted to hear but heard what you needed to hear. That's not our issue or fault . Sorry its just not ! YOU Or the OP may not have said this was ok. But others do and have come on here and other threads saying stupid crap like " WELL I DID something like that and I was FINE " Its irresponsible to tell someone that . It just is . LBT Is ALL ABOUT being positive. Ya ever been to the "Other Site" try going over there for a while and you will see how positive LBT IS. Just because you or someone else did not hear what you wanted to hear does not mean we are horrible mean cruel people ! Mindy -

It could very well be a joke , BUT the sad part is people DO THIS ! Its been told before, people have done it before. People have done it before and suffered very bad consequences. So i guess you just never know ? Mindy -
No carb, low carb does not mean exclude veggies. veggies are good carbs. So many of us have dieted for so many yrs and honestly dieted the wrong way . The no carb diets have got us to believe we should not eat ANY Carbs. Veggies are good to eat and important for us . I did not get the band to be on a diet for the rest of my life. I eat what i want when i want. But my band also dictates what i can and cant eat. I cant eat bread, rice and Pasta of any kind 90% of the time. But i eat the hell out of veggies ! HTH MIndy

Ate a burger two days after surgery
coltonwade replied to tripi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have said this before and I'll say it again . There is "cheating" and there is going against medical advice. Eating a burger 2 days after surgery is not "cheating" its going against medical advice. If you had a heart attack and the doc told you to not walk for 24 hours would you ? Probably not . This is SO NOT "Cheating" its going against doctors orders. HUGE Difference. So I agree with you , there needs to be a "reality" check here somewhere ! Mindy -

Fill Centers USA ... problems and questions
coltonwade replied to delrio's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too got 1.4ccs in a 4cc band the first fill and it got restriction w/ that . I have had issues w/ my fills and myself being sensitive w/ them but since then i got .5 or .25 cc's . Not everyone is going to get to goal w/ 1 or 2 fills. But I agree if a doc is giving you .5 cc fills every fill something is not right. They are milking you and I would raise hell ! HTH Mindy -
I am sorry your having problems. Has any of these docs checked your band under X ray ? Or given you an Upper GI to check the placement of the band ? If not I would go in and insist on it ! Something seems to be going on . I hope you get better soon . Mindy
-
I am sorry your not feeling well. In 2 weeks you will /should be over the flu. But if you do not feel like you have recovered enough i would postpone the surgery . You are going to need all your strength to recover. Have you asked your doc if you can have soup or if you can have a few things that are not on the pre op diet considering your sick ? I would bet he would say ok , you need your strength and nutrition being sick . Hope you feel better soon Mindy

Help! Horrible pain at port. Doc no help!
coltonwade replied to kimma081982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Babbs you need to INSIST the doc see you , if you think something is not right something probably is not . I would assume they just have to look at your port under Flouro to see what is going on . So they need to listen to you ! Mindy -
For Those who live in Texas, or anyone. Just wanted to share
coltonwade replied to flipman416's topic in The Lounge
I have to tell you this looks like a scam to me ? It might not be but its THE MOST UN IFORAMTIVE site i have ever seen. I see NO Where does it tell you where the summit is , the times ect. If its not a scam its VERY VERY poorly done ! Mindy -
Here is another/better article for you as well Mindy
-
Here you go . this might help Food Standards Agency - Eat well, be well - Starchy foods I can tell you i dont eat ( when i have good restriction ) Pasta, rice or breads and I really believe that has ALOT to do with the amount of weight i have lost in teh amount of time i have. I can also tell you in times like NOW when i do not have much restriction at all and i eat Starches ( and or carbs) I gain and do it quickly . I gained 10 lbs in 2 weeks. I also feel a lot worse. and crave more crap when i eat carbs/starches. So he's probably saying , if you want pasta, eat whole wheat, if you want bread, eat whole wheat, ect. I hope that helps a bit. Dont let your doc discourage you . Your doing well ! Love Mindy

Sweet Spot, gas questions & Spicy food question
coltonwade replied to bloom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Aww ok didnt realize you were feeling that way even before eating. Do you feel that way possibly after drinking ? Maybe your drinking too fast ? I know that can happen ? Seems like you would be on liquids for an awful lot if you feel this way often and it seems you do ? You didnt have this problem before banding right ? Let us know what the doc says next week it is an issue . Mindy -
Yes my name is Mindy , Thank you for your sweet coments.
Have you had your band done yet ?
thank you again.

Did I read that right ? You have 25 PDS to lose ? Or is that a miss print ? What kind of negatives do you want to hear ? Possible complications ? I DO encourage you to go to the Complications threads on here and read them , because the things that happen in there slips, ect are real possibilities. If you go to my blogg ( at the bottom of my sig) i have written about some 'issues" i have had being sensitive to fills . that can be seen as a negativity by some , i dont see it that way . As for time line ? Are you going by insurance ? If you have insurance it can take longer. usually self payers ,it does not take long at all. HTH Mindy
