2 weeks since surgery
coltonwade replied to bearbelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My responses are in red and I will warn you now you may not like what i say but its not sugar coated, It does you as a newbie no good to sugar coat things. I told you what i believe you need to hear as it is the truth.I believe you are playing with or starting to play with fire . You need to stop at this moment and get in touch with your doc before your not following docs orders goes any further and you DO cause damage to your band. do not flame me anyone for being "mean" Its not mean its saying it like it is . Please help Feb 16,09 Yogurt Fruit20 Special Soup SF Jello SF pudding Protein shake Water 60oz Cals Fat Protein total 990 19.4 133 That day looks like a good day Feb 17, 09 decf coffee yogurt beef barley soup chicken noodle soup SF jello SF pudding water 64oz Cals Fat Protein total 1065 13 71 Good day Feb18, 09 Yogurt dcf coffee fruit20 cyto protein soup SF jello water 48oz Cals Fat Protein total 710 4 76 Probably a little low on calories maybe ? I started mushies on Friday and this weekend I ate canned venison, pizza, broiled cod, cheese and venison sausage. I don't think of these as mushies. Had no problems eating them though. The reason docs want you to start slowly on solids is in order to allow your stomach to heal. Weather or not you have "issues' with eating this the point is your not suppose to be eating this for a reason . the reason is the first 6 weeks post op is for HEALING , your stomach is not suppose to be workign too soon in order to form scar tissue around your stomach . So you dont "really" know if you had issues eating them or not . They may have gone down "Fine" but the point is your stomach is not suppose to be working yet . I drank 5 glasses of wine on Saturday night at party with past co-workers. I know that wasn't smart. you know it was not smart so I would advice you to follow your own advice and not do it again . Also cals are way up to about 1400 day. Is this acceptable? You need to ask your doctor that question, how many calories you should be getting at this point. I would suspect no though. What are mushies? that again is a question for your doc. different doc have different verisons but generally speaking pizza is not one of them and if you have a question about that i would suggest asking BEFORE you eat it . Could I have damaged anything? I don't think so, and feel good. Could you have ? In all honesty Yes you could have. doctors orders are there for a reason . To allow your stomach to heal to ensure a long life for your band. This close to post op in my opinion its not "cheating" its not following doctors orders. Did you harm something ? I dont know . The fact that you feel fine now honestly is of no determination weather you damaged it now or not. You may not know until later. But the honest answer is yes you COULD have . What should one be consuming 2 weeks after surgery? That is somemthing you need to ask your doctor and you should before anything else goes in your mouth . Did your doc not give you guidleines of what you shoudl have the next 6 weeks after you left the hospital ? As far as streghting my pouch shouldn't I have thrown up because of over stuffing? NO , you may not have 'over stuffed' You have no restriction right now . Did I over stuff? Who knows ? Any advice please My advice you need to inform your doctor of what you have been eating. Follow it to a T from this point forward , if you do not think you can do that i would suggest some conseling. Mindy -

Filled 2 mos ago suddenly cant eat???
coltonwade replied to Heatherz88's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am sure you know this but if your PBing and having trouble with foods , keeping them down , you really should go get a slight unfill. your putting your band at risk for a slip . A lot of people do not realize that a PB and throwing up are the same when it comes to how it can affect slips with the band. Stress affects my band too and if im to in a situation liek you described i would have to go get an unfill. Loseing the weight that way is not worth it . Good luck Mindy -

I totally agree with you Carrie Mindy -
You are probably swollen from the fill. I would suggest calling your doc as you did and if it were me i would stay on liquids for a few days and slowly moving to solids after a few more days. If it gets to where you cant keep liquids down you need to go in for an unfill. Me personally i do not like keeping my band so tight that i can only eat 3 or 4 bites . Others are ok with it . But i would suspect your swollen from the fill ? Let us know what happens Mindy

Hey! I am a PCOS bandster. I am hoping that losing weight will improve my PCOS symptoms. The pre-op diet did bring aunt flo to visit just in time for surgery!:hurray: I got my period the week after surgery . I remember thinking GREAT I never have this damn thing now i get it just as i am feeling better. Its come every month like clock work ( give or take a few days ) every month since then. I am really really really hoping that I can get down to a healthy enough weight to get pregnant. I don't know if I will need fertility help or not but from what I have read, a number of you PCOS folks have had fertility boosts after banding. I want to be careful and wait a year before becoming PG. Should I be cautious and go on birth control until I am ready to try? If you do not want to have a baby right away i woudl personally sugget getting on the pill or some form of BC until your ready . The more weight you lose the more "fertile" you are likely to become. One issue I never had with PCOS was fertility issues. My oldest was a suprise at 16 yrs old for me and my youngest we tried for and only took me 5 months to get pregnatn with him. So I would probably shoot for being cautioous and get on the pill. Have you guys been able to come off of Metformin? I am not taking it right now and will probably re-evaluate my bloodwork with my endo in 6 weeks or so. The funny part with all of this is that my OBGYN told me to get the band so I could lose weight to have a healthier pregnancy. My band doc was telling people at the seminar to have a baby first and then get banded. I felt like I had to get banded if I wanted to have a baby. I think i would listen to your OB on this one . A lot of band docs a lot of docs in general do not know about or understand PCOS. Hell some docs think PCOS is a "Myth" and do nto believe in it at all. My doc however recoginzed PCOS as a co morbidity for surgery . But I would go with the OB's recomendations. Its been shown people who have babies when they are over weight can have more complications. your probably more likely to have issues even getting pregnant until you get the weight off anyway . Over all your just better off, healthier to have a pregnancy at a normal weight. Good luck Mindy

The cold might have something to do with it. But I would have it checked out by the doc. SOunds like your so tight your uncomfortable so you might need an unfill. These bands can be picky sometimes. I had my last fill in November. Was looking like really needed one , was starving ect. Then all of a sudden it tighted up like i had gotten a fill and now im fine again ! Go figure. Saved me $125 though ! mindy -

I would go have it checked out under flouro just to make sure. Some times my band can tighten up for no reason but I know that its just me . If its unusal for you then i would go have it checked . If your so tight you can keep things down , ect then you might need a slight unfill. Keep us updated Mindy -

This happens to me often , however i have a problem being sensitive to fills and my stomach swells easily , here are some things to consider , which can cause me some issues. 1. Have you Pbed anytime recectnly ? 2. Is it your Time of the month ? 3. are you under any stress ? 4. Have you flown recently ? 5. have you been sick ? 6.Anything out of the ordinary ? MIndy -

There ya go with the EVERYONE Crap again . If my kids want to know about God when they grow up they can learn about it on their own . I believe its up to them as adults to find their religion . Not for me to force my beliefs upon them . Mindy -

I dont know where you get im angry I am not . If i mis read what you wrote I am sorry . Most people have the stance that you have to have children to be a "real" woman . I thought that is what you meant. I agree, I think if a woman wants her tubes tied they should be able to make that choice. I had a male doctor at age 24 after i had my second child . My doc would not tie my tubes he said i was too young and had not been married long enough to " make that choice" WTF ? I think i know if i do not want anymore kids. at 24 I had 2 . So my husband had his done before i had my surgery . IF a woman know's she does not want kids period she should be able to make that choice at any age really Mindy
