  1. I love love love me some Greek Yogurt! I've never seen a Krogers you all may not have these stores where you live but I find Chobani 0% fat at Hanaford, Shaws and Market Basket here in New England from .99 - $1.20. Fage is good too but I perfer the Chobani. As far as it resembeling sour cream, I agree. It's a bit bitter like sour cream (which I don't mind) but when you get the flavored (blueberry, strawberry, pommegranet, honey) it doesn't taste too bitter.
  2. I haven't been getting near that amount of calories yet and I certianly have'nt been back to the gym (although i think i'm going to tomorrow!). I'm excieted for you!! You'll be totally fine! WOW sorry about all the posts..had a lot to say i guess :)

  3. It's now lunch time and I'm feeling hunger, but it's the first time during the day that that has happened. So it shall be another 1/2 cup of refried beans and salsa for me (I'm a little obsessed with the fiber these days so I"m having refried beans every day...maybe TMI but no constipation here.) Another funny thing is that pre sugery I kind of like the protein shakes, I have the powder and make my own various ways. But post surgery they smell different and I'm totally turned off but them! So that is the only thing I'm struggeling with. Not too bad. AS far as weight loss post op.. I gained like 7 lbs from the surgery (IV fluids and stuff) but as of today I've lost that and only 3 additional. I noticed in the months leading up to this that my body only responds when I have al least 1000-1200 calories and moving my butt.

  4. As far as hunger goes it's so strange. My stomach wakes me at like 4am groweling so of course I curse it and go back to sleep. Then when I wake for real I'm not hungry. Today has been different.

  5. After the 3 day of this I was fine but those forst 3 days suuuccckkked! So I guess I"m now n the 7the day of post op diet which for me consitis of 3 protien shakes a day and 2 blended meals (1/2 cup) a day. I am so thankful to not be on the liquid diet. I feel like I am feeling what restriction must feel like. So I'm eatting refried beans & salsa, eggs, cottage cheese, pudding with protien powder added, I have soups but I haven't ventured there yet.

  6. Wow!! Thats a lot of traveling!! I thought my 1/5 hour trip was annoying. But you know what on my 3rd day post op I would have been so okay with flying and driving (being a passenger of course). You'll be zonked but as far as the pain level on day 3 I was just sore. Like I had done a ton of sit ups, like a thousand :). Tollerable, very tolerable. I realize everyone is different but I hope you feel as good as I did. As far as the weight loss goes I lost 49lbs from Sept to op date. Should have been more but Thanksgiving - Christmas I let loose. I figured I had done so well so.... anyhoo I"m happy with the 49. 16 of that was lost on the 2 week pre op diet which consisted of 3 protien shakes and a lean cusine under 300 calories a day.

  7. I'm sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I don't know, I think I might have magical healing powers. I've been back to work for 2 days now and off any pain med for 3 days. Now my job is very low stress and I have loads of down time so it's been totally fine! I didn't have and of that dreaded gas pain which I am very thankful for. As far as movement, the worst day was the 2nd. I needed a bit of help getting out of bed. But by the 3rd day I went to the grocery store and was moving around just fine. It's wild that you have to travel so far and take a plane to get your surgery! You live in Hawaii? Where do you have to travel to for surgery??

  8. They gave me 20 oxycodone to tkae every 3 hours as needed. The first night I was up every 3 hours, I"m guessing because of the pain but since yesterday afternoon (so 2nd day post op) I've been mostly just taking 1000mg Tylenol every four hours or longer. The pain wasn't nearly as bad as I though It would be. Good luck!

  9. Congrats! My surgery went well too. Not one complaint. I'm quite sore but it's really not as bad as I thought it would be. I"ve had none of that gas pain either...I have 5 incisions. 4 tiny ones and one thats about 3 inches maybe smaller. It's still pretty swollen where that incision is. Are you on liquids? My diet is blended foods for 14 days, which I'm very thankful for. I wasn't interested in eatting anything but I had pudding with some protein powder a couple of hours ago. My stomach is still making some very interesting noises. I hope all continues to be well!

  10. Hey! Thanks for asking about me. Everything went really good. I was at the surgery center for only 6ish hours. When I left I was pretty sore, the 1/5 hour car ride home wasn't too bad, I think I slept most of the way. Got home watched Project Runway then was off to bed. This morning I was very sore and needed help getting out of bed, but that was the only help I needed all day. Not hungry at all (yet) very very thirsty though.

After reading the last note posted here I'm thinking maybe you didn't have your surgery? If you did how did it go?

    January 15th Bansters??

SOOO how did everyone do?!! I'm ok, kinda sore today, not much gas pain..so far anyway hopefully if I haven't felt it yet I won't. My surgery went very well. Got to the surgery center at 12:30, surgery at 2:30 and home by 7:30 (with an hour and a half drive). I'm still pretty groggy so forgive this message :w00t: I just wanted to check in and see how everyone else did. I hope all is well with everyone!!!!! -Kate
  12. Hi Skippy!

Your surgery is a day after mine! Hows your week on liquids going? I didn't have to do the all liquid diet, but it was a mostly liquid diet and for 2 weeks. I've been so anxious for months for this and now I'm a tad nervous. I suppose thats normal though. I hope everything goes well for you!!!!!!

  13. Hi Maria, My experience with Anthem was wonderful. Never did I think I would say such a thing about an insurance company but they were truely wonderful. It took my surgeons office quite a while to send the paperwork over to them but they finally got it on 12/23 and when I called on 12/28 (not realizing they had recieved it already) they said I had been approved on 12/24. So it took them 1 day to approve me. I have no co-morbids and had a starting BMI of 51... it is now 42. I dealt with Anthem out of Maine. I hope that helps!! Good luck next week you must be excited!!!
  14. Hi I just need to vert a little. I met with my surgeon who seems wonderful on 11/25. At that point we scheduled a surgery date of 1/15. They then send the request over to my insurnace company. Well it's not 12/15 and my insuarnce company still hasn't recieved anything!! I've called the surgeons office and they receptionist told how shes very busy and will get to it by the end of the week, hopefully!! That was last week and my insurance STILL doesn't have anything!! How hard is it!!?? I'm just geting very anxious and I don't want to call again for fear that I will piss her off. UGH!!!!!!!!! Is anyone else out there having their surgery done in Portland, Maine? Have you run into anyything like this??
  15. Sheila, Thanks for the advise. I do have one question for you. What did you have to do in order to be discharged from SSC? Like drink so much Water or??? I'm anxious to go home that day but the RN at my pre op appointment said that because my surgery is the last one that day I should be prepared to stay... but that I wont necessaraly have to. Do you go to the Bariatric Center too? When did you get your first fill? I haven't met the RN over there yet just the nutritionists and social worker. -Kate
  16. Hello styms5!!! Finally someone from my neck of the woods . I'm having my surgery FRIDAY at the surgery center by Dr. Cobean. Who was your surgeon? How have you done? I hope all is well. -Kate

    January 15th Bansters??

The first couple of days were difficult. Expecially since I was a bit of a piggy over the holidays but I won't beat myself up about that because I lost 35 lbs since Sept and I'm sure I've lost since I started this pre op diet but I won't weigh myself until Friday. I've been exercising a few times a week for a while now and I hope to increase that post surgery. I mostly do the Ellipticle and once a weekish I do weights. I've been thinking about getting a Wii, let me know how it is! I am so anxious for this!!! What time is your surgery? I'm the last one of the day at 2pm and I'm having it done in Portland Maine. -Kate

    January 15th Bansters??

Hello!! We have the same surgery date! I started my pre op diet in the 1st so today is my 5th day of this. It sounds like we have pretty similar diets. I can have 3 Protein shakes a day, a lean cusine, unlimited raw veggies and unlimited Water (sugar free popsicles, Jello, broth and the like). I can only have 4oz of fat frree milk which is making the Protein Shakes kinda nasty because I'm making them with water. Do you have a restriction on milk? How are you making your protien drinks, or are you buying the premade ones?? Good luck! -Kate
  22. Hello Jadeite!!

I didn't realize that it's going to be a solar eclipseon the 15th...thats pretty cool! I hope it means good things for us :)

Have you started a pre op diet? I'm on the 5th of a 14 day and I must admit it's a bit tough. I"m trying not to complain out loud...It will be over soon enough and then we will be banded!! Where is your surgery? Mine is in Portland, Maine but I live in NH.

  23. WOW!! Way to go.... very impressive!!!! -Kate

    Pre-Op Diet????

Hello! I'm on day 4 of my pre op diet...surgery is scheduled for 1/15, so I have 11 days (OMGGG!) until surgery. My surgeons diet consists of two options. The 1st is to have 3 Protein shakes a day, 1 med fruit, a Lean Cuisine (or other brand) under 300 calories and unlimited raw veggies, 1/2 cup cottage cheese. I can only have 4 oz of milk which is killing me because I can't stand the Protein Shakes with Water. The 2nd option is the 3 protein shakes with 4oz lean meat, 1/2 cup cooked veggie, 1 medium fruit 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese. Unlimited water, popcicles (suger free) & jello(s/f). It's interesting how everyone has different per op diets. I'm very thankful for the unlimited raw veggies, it's nice to have something to crunch. I definitly feel for those on all liquid diets right now! Stay strong :rolleyes2:
  25. Happy to report that Anthem recieved the paperwork (finally) from Dr. on 12/23 and as of TODAY 12/29 it is approved! I can't believe surgery is 17 days away!!!
