I had a bypass over 15 years ago and at first it was successful over 10 stone loss and I felt amazing. My mobility has decreased dramatically nd I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I've gained all my weight back and more. My pouch im sure is huge, I get terrible reflux and I'm thinking a revision. Has anyone successfully had a NHS revision? What was criteria? What did the op entail? Also, anyone gone private for this in uk? What was the cost? Im so confused but I know to help my mobility I need to lose weight 😩 Any help is appreciated

Hi everyone, Just checking in, everyones doing sooo well, i'm so proud of you all!! I don't think i'm going to make my challenge this time , but today I have acheived a personal challenge. I'm in the Uk and we go by stones and pounds to measure our weight and i REALLY wanted to be able to say I am 18 stone something by valentines, well today I am 18 stone 13.5lbs!! woohoo (14lbs in a stone) so although I havent managed to reach my target here, I do feel as if I've acheived something!! oh, I have a NSV!! i bought some new jeans in size 22 from my mams catalogue and as they fit I asked her to order a size 20 for me as well, they arrived last week and they FIT!!! making me realise that the size 22 is too big.....i only had them 2 weeks!! Elizabeth - I was told not to drink with my meals as it pushes food through the band and you get hungrier quicker, I have tested this and it is true! However, if I am really hungry i drink a glass of water before my meal to stop me overeating, I also wait half hour after meals before drinking. I think everyone is told something different time wise but drinking with a meal is a definite NO NO. I never drink fizzy drinks, but i had stopped that before I was banded as I noticed my tummy swelling and feeling bloated each time I drink it. oh no, I'm telling lies .....I sometimes have diet coke with Vodka!! but I put plenty ice in it to get rid of the fizz before i drink it... Good luck everyone, and I dont mind what challenge we do next...it's my 40th birthday in may so i need to set a goal for that (well secretly i'd love to be in a size 18 by then, not too bothered about weight but thats between us!! lol) Lets go for it....I love these challenges as they keep me focussed... MOLLY - I'm so sorry for your loss, my thoughts are with you and your family. Take care of yourself, remember the band is for life! you can take a break from thinking about it to concentrate on other important things... I went for a fill on thursday..but instead got an unfill. Ive had throat/voice problems ever since i had my first fill 3 months ago and my gp kept telling me i had a virus, but around christmas time my surgeon rang me to come into hospital immediately. Anyway after a barium meal and lots of check ups theyve discovered that my gullet is twice its size and that my band had self tightened, the food was staying in the pouch for too long causing all sorts of problems. So they unfilled me slightly. I was very upset but since then i feel better in myself, they think my gullet will go back to its normal size and once it does they will review if i need another fill. I'm really pleased I have good team behind me and that they reacted quickly. Anyway, since thursday, ive been on sloppies and when he unfilled me completely all the food in the puch went emptied so I feel better and my toilet need increased!!! so when i got weighed today i've lost 3lbs...but im not updating anythign until ive had it confirmed tomorrow, and my TOM is due...so maybe i'l make my valentines target after all!!
-
Hi guys, well done Tann..its a great feeling isnt it... I at long last after many complications am getting my much needed 2nd fill on thursday this week, so that should help with the valentines day challenge. THe christmas challeng I felt i did really well at and am failing miserably at this one, so hopefully this will be the kick in the butt i need...
-
Well done Molly, keep up the good work!! I take rice cakes to work for lunch and find they go down easily, but i also have with them some chicken and low fat mayo, so I get some protein too, or sometimes with some low fat spread....I can usually eat 2 sometimes 3 on a hungry day..
-
Good post Mary!! And you're right we do have to stop and re evaluate ourselves, especially after the christmas season and all its goodies....it's very easy to slip back into old habits and work 'around' the band not with it... i know I have been, i'm ready for a fill (in fact more than overdue), and am hoping that will get me back on track...

Lapbandit - Thank you for noticing I haven't been around much, it makes me feel like i'm not alone goignthrough this and I have some true friends in my bandsters!! Waterlily - I am soooo sorry about your mum, I will send healing thoughts to her , you and all your family. I fyou do feel you need that lift and want to turn to chocolate don't deprive yourself, just have a little bit.....easier said than done, but it does work sometimes!! Well, all the exercise at the wekend and the after effects of my barium meal have helped restart my weightloss, i'm down another 2lbs today...long may it continue (the weightloss not the aftereffects!!) and if I get a fill next week then all the better..
-
Hi everyone, I've been having a tough time since before christmas, my surgeon thought I had a problem with food being stuck in my pouch and wanted to unfill me just before xmas, I pleaded with him not to as I didnt think that was the problem. Anyway, he didn't but I wasn't allowed a fill (which I'm desperate for) until after i'd had a barium meal under xray. I had that yesterday and everything is ok..as I said it was!! so now I have to wait for a fill date hopefully next week! This has meant that my weight is has hardly moved since the end of october...so, although my total weight loss is good, it could be much better and I find that frustrating!! Here in the Uk they are very slow with fills, so after my surgery I waited 6 weeks without any weightloss before my first fill and now I've waited approx 10 weeks since needing a fill, so I have been banded approx 26 weeks and out of that I have been losing weight only 16 of those. That means I have lost an average of 5lb per week then if I had had the fills when needed I would/could be down another 50lbs!! WOW I know this sounds like I'm rambling but it's a real possibility....and its driving me mad!! Anyway, next week i should be able to get back to exercising and I did a lot of walking at the weekend so that might have helped, so hopefully my weight will start moving again...... Poll - Are You Attracted To Overweight People?
indianlight replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm a big girl as most of us who get banded are..and overweight men don't usually turn me on....I went on a date with a really nice guy, he was a very large, lovely bloke but ...nothing!! I felt no attraction to him whatsoever... then i went on a date with another guy, who's also overweight...and WOW...i am sooo attracted to him, like him a lot... So wots the difference???? I asked myself that and the answer is personality - who they actually are!! My conclusion is it doesnt matter what size they are its who they are that matters, and its a shame that I didn't meet a guy who thought the same until after I was banded...not that i'm regretting getting banded, not at all!! but even if this doesn't last at least I know that there are guys out there who think the same as me..... -
HAPPY THINNER AND HEALTHIER NEW YEAR MY BANDSTER FRIENDS!! Well guys, I haven't posted in a while, I've been christmas busy...but also guilty like the rest of us of being overindulgent foodwise over the festive period (or in my case just plain GREEDY) So I need a new focus for the new year...so how about this new challenge we talked about pre xmas?? Was it for Valentines day?? I need all the help I can at the moment to get me back on track so a challenge will help...are we going for it?? If so, it's 6 weeks away...so I want to lose 20lbs by then (it might be difficult as im stuck at the moment and waiting for a fill!) Who will join me????
-
Oh Libra....thats not good!!! I agree with not being on liquids at christmas..I'm due a fill 18th december and want to postpone until the new year... Don't worry though you can keep it off, you've worked so hard so far you won't want tp let it slide!! Keep up the good work everyone.....and lets have a bandster christmas, remember a little of something is not a bad thing..just have a taste!!

Don't Flame Me But Can We Discuss Something
indianlight replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm like Sunta, I never deprive myself of any food, i eat whatever I want that I can physically eat, the difference with the band is whereas before I would maybe eat a few chocolate bars in addition to my very large unhealthy meal...now if I eat a chocolate bar I would have to miss my meal...but I only do this occasionally... To me the band is my safety net and its here to stay... -
I've been thinking maybe Valentines day is too early, its only about 7 weeks into the new year...although we could adjust our expected losses to suit...what do you all think??
