I am a 49 year old nurse, and I like a lot of others have battled my weight most of my life. I, at one time had considered the gastric bypass surgery, but decided that wasn't for my. After a car accident, back injury and reduced exercising, I began gaining weight at a much faster rate. I finally decided to do something about it, I began researching the lap band surgery and listening to other peoples success stories. I finally made an appt with Dr. Salimitari, and after meeting with him I knew I was making the right decision. He explained everything to me and what to expect after the surgery. It was actually easier than I had expected. I had miniimal pain after the surgery. I took the pain meds for only two days after the surgery and I returned to work on the 4th day after surgery. As a nurse, I have taken care of a lot of patients that opted for the gastric bypass surgery, I was amazed how easy the lap band surgery was. I only wish I hadn't waited so many years to have it done. It has been 7 months since the surgery and I have lost approx. 50 pounds, I know I have a long way to go but I'm looking forward to it. I'm very happy with the results and extremely happy that I found Dr. Salimitari for my surgeon. He's the BEST !!!!!!! When YOU decide to have the surgery, make sure you research the Dr. you should not be on this journey alone. This is a big decision that affects the rest of your life, you want a Dr. that cares about YOU and your health, one that is there when you need them, one that will take the time to talk or listen to you. You and your Dr. are in this journery together, you don't want a Dr. that will just do the surgery then let you go on your own or pass you off to another Dr. make sure you you get an EXCELLENT Dr. like I did, it will make your journery so much more enjoyable.
