A place at the table, the Operating table that is!! 3/1/11

Congratulations!!! 2011 is going to be a great year! -
My experience with pizza after my surgery is that pizza is not a good thing. I ate it 10 wks out of surgery and the pain was horrible. So I wouldn't recommend eating it 12 days after surgery. In fact, I will never eat it again.....LOL.....I learned my lesson. Jeri

Did you have to wait for revision after band removal?
tryinagain replied to deletedelete's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my band for 4 years and my Doctor did my revision in one surgery. It wasn't easy on me, but I am glad now that I didn't have to go thru it again. I am also self pay. Good luck, Jeri -
My hair is falling out :(
tryinagain replied to Fleur de lis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having the same problem as you thinoneday. Only my hair has been falling out since I got my lap band 4 years ago. I have tried everything too. Biotin, expensive shampoos and rinses, protein. My hair is so thin on top that you can see my shiny scalp. Also, there is no bald people in my family, so its not hereditary. But, I am so happy to be losing weight finally, I will put up with the almost bald spot. I feel blessed too. -

Vicki S Wow, I had all the same feelings and thoughts as you do now. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and believe me, it's a lot better. I am looking so forward to getting to the soft foods on Wednesday. I still get weak toward the end of the day. I am hoping that goes away soon. Hang in there and follow Doctor's instructions and you will be glad you did this when you see the scale! Jeri

Over 60 and having the sleeve
tryinagain replied to ginnylee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ginny C I am 63 and had a band(that had gone bad) to sleeve revision 3 weeks ago. It was hard on me for the first few days. I stayed overnight at the hospital and my husband drove me 150 miles home. I had a migrane for the first few days at home. I was wishing I had never had it done. But after a few days I felt fine and was very happy I had it done! I have lost 23 lbs in the 3 wks since my surgery. The best thing that happened to me is I found this forum. I am on a pureed diet til next week when i go on a soft diet for 2 weeks. I cant wait. I walk a mile on my treadmill every morning. I still get weak at times, but they are getting less and less. good luck with your surgery! Jeri -
I just ordered that same book!...... Jeri

Here is my story....
tryinagain replied to tryinagain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Irene.... There is lots more to my story. Like last year after a fill I couldn't breathe, so I went to walk in clinic and they called 911 and an ambulance took me to the ER. I told them what happened, they called my band surgeon and he had me moved to another hospital so he could treat me. My oxyegin levels dropped below 80. He ran all kinds of tests and even had his friend do an EGD on me. I kept asking him, what happened to me? He said probably a PE. And sent me home. I think that is when my band unbuckled and he knew it. Any way he quit a few months later, I only got a letter saying to find another Doctor. After I found out how messed up my band was and how much it was gonna cost (i'm self pay) to remove it, I was really bitter. My husband and I called several lawyers and tried to sue him. But unfortunitly, the statue of limitations in Texas for surgery is 2 years and I had surpassed that. So I contacted Allergan, the maker of my lap band. They were great and very understanding. They wanted the band after it was removed, so my Doctor sent it to them. I haven't heard anything back. I was so hurt and bitter, I had paid this man a fortune and put my trust in him. I prayed and prayed about it, and decided that the good Lord led me in the right direction to a wonderful clinic and wonderful Doctor that saved me......and I shouldn't harbor these ill feelings. So, I am at peace with it and looking to the future of being a healthier person, what I wanted all along. thanks for responding, -
Congratulations on getting your new sleeve! And another congratulations on deciding against the lap band. I am one of those horror stories you read about. I had band removal to sleeve revision surgery on 10/13/2010. The first few days were pretty bad for me, then all of a sudden, about 4 days after surgery, I felt great! Walking and following Doctors instructions about what to eat is what I think helped me to get better. And I found this wonderful site, at least now I know I am not alone in my journey. Good luck and welcome to a new life! Tryin

Here is my story....
tryinagain replied to tryinagain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you for responding to my post! And you are right about a "tricky revision". I am following my Doctor's orders right down the line. I forgot to mention that my band had also came unbuckled sometime during the almost 4 years I had it. I really feel like my Band Doctor should have found my problems. After all I was getting fill after fill with no restriction after only a few days. One time he put in 9cc under fluroscope.....he had to have seen it or was just plain ignoring my problem. He actually did me a favor by quitting and moving away. Or I would have never known what was going on with my band. I have a great Doctor now, who cares about me, fixed my problem, and that is what counts. Thanks again Tryin -

Thank you for responding Lily. I forgot to mention that I was 63 yrs old and this has been really hard on me. But things are looking up and I am getting over the surgery and losing weight, and that is what I wanted. I have a wonderful Dr. now with a great support staff. So my story has a happy ending. And yes, I will post updates every now and then. Thanks, Jeri
