Insurance has everything they need and I should know in 5 business days! Surgeon says we can pencil in the date of 1/21 in the meantime. I haven't told my work yet and am nervous to do so! How long are you all planning on taking off?

I'm hoping to join you all! Paperwork went to insurance late November. Apparently they are still in need of clinic medical necessity information from my surgeon. AND he's lagging on getting it! I have been e-mailing the office manager but not getting a response. So frustrating! They are normally so good, not sure what is going on. Regardless we are planning on January surgery, so hoping insurance gets what they need soon and will approve. Kim

I was on a high Protein diet back in the mid 90's and lost 100lbs, lost a TON of hair throughout the process. It did come ALL back, but it took awhile. It helped when I cut my hair shorter too. Then a few years ago I lost 75lbs on LA Weight Loss. Again, I lost the hair. I cut my hair again super short, took Biotin and used Rogaine (costco generic) consistently and my hair grew back just fine and fast. I was just banded last month, but I fully expect it to happen again for me no matter how much protein I have (I avg about 90g per day right now). I think it just happens to some people no matter what with excessive weight loss. It will eventually come back and you will no grow bald! Kim

Hi all I am about 4 1/2 weeks post op and doing soft foods and still a lot of liquids. I've had one "stuck" episode last week so I know what that is like, but today I'm experiencing some new feelings. I ate a few bites of egg this morning and they did not go down right (almost feeling like stuck) so I just stopped eating. About 2 hours later I had a Protein drink. Then about 2 hours after that I started to get a really strong tightening feeling in my chest, like someone is squeezing me and it's hard to breathe. It last about an hour or two. Then tonight I had a little bit of dinner and 2 hours later I'm feeling the same tightness again. Anyone experience this and know what it could be? I'm able to drink fluids fine, so I am assuming nothing is stuck, in fact I've been drinking a lot of Water to try to flush anything that might be there. Thanks for any advice! Kim

If you are in pain and have an unusual lump, I'd call the doctor and try to get in on Monday, instead of Wed. I had tons of pain for the first 4 weeks after surgery and had lumps, but now they are going away. What I can feel now is my port (I think) if I push by my incision. But I think because you are 6 weeks out and it's new, I'd call. Kim

This is happening to me today. Not as painful as you and I don't feel the need to go to the hospital. But it happened this afternoon about 3 hours after eating VERY little and then again tonight about 2 hours after eating. It feels like someone is squeezing me and hard to breathe. Not sure what the heck is going on! Kim

Yikes, sitting in my recliner now. Seems to be the only way I can sit comfortably. I was also banded on the 15th. I am doing ok gas wise, but I have horrible incision pain. I'm waiting for it to be ok! I am not walking enough as I need to be as it hurts. I am not on Clear Liquids and able to add Protein to Water or non fat milk, so I've been doing that and not really hungry. I am taking in about 70g of protein a day.

amchenai, I feel the same way as you, not worried at all about the actual surgery but changing my lifestyle permanently and being able to do it. I'm still eating whatever I want right with a little bit of "last supper" mentality. I'm traveling tomorrow for 6 days and figured I'll just enjoy myself and start dealing with it all when I get back. Boo, sorry your file is still pending. I hope you hear something soon, did they give you and estimated time? My insurance approved mine super fast, in fact way faster than I ever expected. It was weird! Did all of you have upper and/or lower GI's? My surgeon did not require that. And he didn't mention anything about shrinking the liver either. Weird. I'm wondering if my ekg needs to be repeated since it will be more than 30 days until my surgery. I'd hate for something like that to slip it up. I'm off to visit family and enjoy myself. What type of choices are you enjoying for liquids?

Sorry been a couple of days since I checked in, busy weekend. Went to a beer festival and enjoyed every last drop since I won't be having it anymore. My surgeon says that I need to avoid alcohol for one year, after that a glass of wine here and there is not a big deal. They really feel it's just empty calories, so not a good thing for weight loss. But after having the surgery apparently one glass is plenty, as we will absorb it much quicker. He said we'd be cheap dates. :-) I did get my insurance approval, in fact my office won't schedule surgery until it's done. My process was very fast, about one month start to finish. I would have had my surgery this month, but am traveling and asked for it the 15th when I'm back and my mom can come down to help with the kids. It's great to see so many September bandsters.

Boo, I'm one day ahead of you on the 15th. I also have somewhere between 100-120 to lose. I have not started a pre-op diet though. I'm traveling next week and am thinking I'll start when I get back. Hardest for me is going to be no alcohol!

I got my official surgery date, it's the 15th. I'm scared and nervous and still need to finish reading my paperwork. I don't have a pre-op diet, anyone else????? I'm just not supposed to gain weight and have a liquid diet one day prior to surgery. They are mailing me an info packet 2 weeks before surgery which should give me a lot more information.

Hi everyone. This is my first post on the board. This journey has gone quickly for me (seems like meant to be in ways) and I believe I'll be banded in Sept. My lecture was July 25th. I don't even know if my surgeon and office know yet, but I found out from insurance yesterday that it was just approved. I'm going to ask for a surgery date mid Sept, like the week of the 14th. Anyone else in San Diego, CA?
