  1. Sometimes, when I bend forward, I can feel a slight pain (more akin to soreness than sharp) in my stomach where the band is. Is this normal? I got my band on August 3rd so I am not far out of surgery. Thanks!

    Alcohol... ???

Time for a bit of a confessional for me. I had my surgery on a Monday, that Friday I went out and effed up on something that I didn't think I would have issues with. I had about 6 ounces of dark beer that took me more than an hour to finish. That night I was pretty bloated in the stomach and couldn't expel gas very easily. Now I definitely learned my lesson, but I fear that this lesson may have some consequences? Is it possible that could have dislodged the band? I go for my first fill on Sept 15th and I'm just scared I may have already screwed things up

    Newly Banded!

My god I hope so! I have very little restriction right now so everything liquid is going down very easily and unfortunately I've been having a few higher calorie Soups to keep me from going NUTS. I've evened out at 11.5 but as I always say "hey, weight, is weight. It could be gold or Water, it doesn't matter" I'm just trying to be patient with myself and heal until I get my first fill and really get down to business This looks to be a FANTASTIC site. I've already gotten answers and support to my questions!
  4. Hello all, My name is Claudia and I have been recently banded! ^^ After 2 rejections from my insurance I finally got my approval for surgery and had my Realize band implanted on 8/3 at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills by Dr. Kai Gregg Nishi. I am currently on week 2 of a 3 week liquid diet. Week 4 will be mashed/pureed foods and after that will be solids. So far I am down 11.5 pounds which I am sure is Water weight. I have a few questions that I will post to the appropriate forum ^^ I do have a blog/vlog that is separate from the blogs here at LBT, however I will see about doing some cross posting if possible. You can visit me at Soul Eating I am eagerly looking forward to learning more and talking with all of you! Claudia
  5. Hi all! I was just banded on 8/3 and even though I spent 2 years studying and going to support groups and learning everything I could learn I still have questions that I feel I should already know the answers to Here are some figures: Starting weight Nov '07: 333 Pre-Surgery Weight: 292 Banded on 8/3/09 Current Weight: 281.5 My concerns now are that since it seems I'm done loosing Water weight, I need to enter into a more aggressive stage of calorie restriction which is proving to be very difficult as my Protein shakes are on the high end (200) calories per serving and yet I am still missing my protein requirements by ablt 10 grams. I am already in the process of selecting new shakes. However I am concerned about not getting enough calories and forcing my body into starvation mode. My other issue is that now that the swelling as gone down restriction is rather minimal I can down a good deal of liquid before feeling satisfied. I had a whole can of Soup prepared and finished it over the course of 3 hours (it was very watery, but tasty!) Is this something that should be expected prior to my first fill? I tend to be a very fast healer, how long did it take for others before they were comfortable taking in more liquids? Thank you all for your time and advise! Claudia Soul Eating
  6. Wow. Haven't been on this site for a full day and already I've gotten advice that put me at ease  Thank you so much for the sound advice. You are right. Hydration and Protein are paramount right now. *goes to have some more soup*
  7. My deepest and sincerest congratulations to you! Your story is really inspirational for a newbie like myself

    Eating ALL THE TIME

Wow I'm glad I clicked on this thread! I am almost 2 weeks out of surgery and really struggling maintaining my all liquid diet. I am totally desperate for solids and I sneak certain ones in here and there and make sure I chew the heck out of them before swallowing. I've also been really stressing myself out because it feels like I'm overeating and I'm so worried about stretching my pouch out. After some radical lifestyle changes I rarely had problems with self control but now that I'm on all liquids I'm having a really hard time controlling my urges. I'm stress eating like a fiend! Canary1, what an amazing mantra to remember. I need to print that out and post it on my wall: Self-Forgiveness and Patience!
