Well, I went out and got a rebounder and did a mini workout for about 20min. The DVD shows your feet leaving the mat about an inch but I just kept them planted. I can see how this thing can give you a good workout! Even with the little bit I did I could feel my muscles working. It was actualy a fun exercise. (I can't believe I put "fun" & "exercise" together!) :faint: Robin, I'll let you know how it goes after a few workouts. I can feel it in my lower body but no pain yet. This might be an option for us.

I have a bad back (fusion 2yrs ago) and I'm looking for a good low impact excersize. The rebounder sounds good but I've read some have complained it was too hard on thier back. Anyone here have trouble with it? I'd obviously be starting off real easy...

Thanks Jack! Just what I was looking for. I didn't think about being able to sit on it to exercise. I think I used the term "core strengthening" incorrectly and the effort you describe is what I'm looking for. And you're right, I can always find it a good home if it doesn't work lol. My fusion went great and got me out of the house after being down 2 yrs. It was all done anteriorly with no insision to my back. I still have an iffy disk above the fusion and ongoing problem with my SI joint. I have constant "popping" in my hips/groin when the joint gets irritated. (More medical info than y'all probably wanted to hear about :nervous) My goal is to get banded, loose weight and strengthen it!

Thanks for the replys guys. I can't tolerate much more walking then I already do. What I'd like is something to help strengthen my core muscles. I use an exercise ball at home and it's gotten sooo boring. I found the rebounder on sale and I was hoping it would add a little variety. I can do water aerobics (can't do much kicking/regular swimming) but I can't find a local class to attend. It may be shallow, but I don't want to go to a public pool full of kids and try water aerobics until after I get banded lol.:nervous

Thanks for the input guys, it's just the info I was looking for. I'm particularly glad to hear you are able to take Vicodin Ralheit, it's my main source of pain relief!

Hello all, My name is Alicia and I live in Stockton, CA. I have been researching WLS and the band seems like a great choice. I had back surgery (fusion) two years ago and the burden of my extra weight really has become an issue. I'm ready to loose it! I try to move pretty slow on life altering decisions but today has been a whirlwind! I just had to share it with someone other than the hubby I called my insurance to get some basic info. (Big step for me.) I then called Dr. Feng (San Fransisco) to see if he took my insurance and to inquire about maybe getting a consult in the near future. (Trying to take baby steps ya know...:rolleyes) Well, his office said Dr Feng was at his satelitte office just 10 minutes from my home today and he could see me!! Two hours later I'm talking to the Doc and I came away knowing the band is what I want. Best of all, DR. Feng agreed it was my best option he'll be submitting the request to my insurance. It'll all happened so fast my head is still spinning! I'm thrilled though and figure it's in God's hands now. In all my excitement I forgot to ask Dr. Feng about medication. Does anyone have problems dealing with pain or other meds after the band? Not necessarily getting them down but any bad reactions? Anyway, thanks for listening. Please send prayers and good thoughts this way. Send 'em to my insurance company too please :clap2: Alicia

LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions

I'm still waiting for my band but I thought I'd share a possible menu idea to add a little variety to the liquid phase. Keep in mind I'm only suggesting it because it's a tasty liquid; I don't know how it fits in nutritionally. It's called Raita and it's a yummy Indian yogurt condiment/sauce that I adore! I drink it more than use it as a condiment. It's served chilled and is fantastic on a hot day. :hungry: The most common is a cucumber Raita. It's really easy to make and there are dozens of varieties. You can make it thick or runny and easliy adjust the ingredients. It's pretty cheap to buy at most Indian restaurants too. Here's two recipies •2 cups natural plain yoghurt •1 cup grated, seeded cucumber •1 green chilli-finely chopped (optional •1/t tsp. salt, adjust to taste •1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper •1/2 tsp. ground, roast cumin seeds (dry roast in microwave or in a wok or frying pan Instructions 1.Beat yoghurt, salt, black pepper and cumin together. (Blender works best for thin Raita.) 2.Add cucumber and green chillies and mix well. Adjust salt. Serve chilled.------------------------- Cucumber Raita Recipe Ingredients 1. Dahi Yogurt: 2 Cups 2. Grated Cucumber: ½ Cup Skin cucumber, scoop out seeds, Grate very coarse 3. Finely chopped onion: ¼ Cup I use red onions for color 4. Garlic: 1 Clove, peeled and minced 5. Salt: ½ teaspoon or to taste 6. Cayenne powder: ¼ teaspoon or to taste 7. Black pepper: Pinch 8. Whole Cumin Seeds: 1 teaspoon 9. Fresh Cilantro: 1 Tablespoon, washed stem discarded chopped Method Churn the yogurt using a blender or a mixer. Fold in items 2 thru 7. Roast cumin seeds on a hot griddle (NO OIL) stirring occasionally on high heat till the seeds start turning black. Coarsely grind seeds with a pestle or a coffee grinder. Add ground roasted seeds to yogurt. Refrigerate. Serve with chopped fresh cilantro ---------------------------------- This place has dozens of Raita recipies. http://www.mamtaskitchen.com/recipe_display.php?id=%2012842
