I must be having my mid-life crisis because I've been overweight most of my life. I lost 50 pounds once and put back on triple. I hate dieting. I love chocolate. When I saw the commercials on TV for the band I thought that looked like the kind of help I needed. My "new year's resolution": I saw my PCP to discuss and she was 100% supportive and we started the insurenace required 6 month diet. It's now August, I've had all the appointments, met all the requirements and my surgery is scheduled for Sept. 14. I am terrified. I hate hospitals more than anything. But I'm getting all kinds of positive feedback from people I have told. I haven't told my parents because they will not believe it is the right way to go about this. My husband is my number one supporter and keeps prodding me when I doubt or fear. So I've been on line looking for places like this, blogs etc... to see what people who have been there done that are saying. The support group here seems to meet only once a month and that doesn't sound like enough to me for beginners. But hey, it's easier to sit in my chair in front of the computer and get support than to drive somewhere at 7 o'clock and night to be in a room full of strangers staring at me.
