Great to be a loser- add your thoughts

I have a "small" stand up shower. Today, I had no problem bending over and shaving my legs. It was a great way to start the day! :clap2: -
Pseudo Tumor Cerebri Diaged in March 06

I too have been diagnosed with PTC. I went in to the eye doctor to get new, hip glasses and walked out with an appointment with the neurologist. I saw the neurologist, had an MRI and things kind of got to a stand still. At my check-up, my pupils were dialated again by the eye doctor and she said that the swelling of my optic nerve had not gotten any worse. I too am the same as most who are diagnosed: overweight, childbearing age (i was also taking birth control which sometimes PTC is a side effect of birth control pills i've been told) and obviously female. I've been told that losing weight could help drastically which played into me deciding to get the band. I want no one operating on my eyes or sticking anything in my spine. I'm continuing to check in on my eyes but am on no medications. If losing the weight doesn't help the problem, I'll be seeing another eye doctor. Good luck, i was so happy to see this post and that I wasn't alone. -
Hey Everyone! How is everyone doing??? Welcome to the group, Kate. There are a bunch of amazing people on this thread! Keep in touch and best wishes with your upcoming banding. You'll do fantastic!

I was banded on 7/27 and am just familiarizing myself with this site a bit more. My surgery was done by Dr. Peter O'Brien in Sioux Falls, SD. It's my two week mark post-op today. It's crazy how fast and slow time goes by at the same time. Today, I weighed myself and am down 19 pounds. I want to put a cool little ticker at the bottom of my posts, anyone willing to offer advice on how to do that? I have a question. I have some tenderness around my port site. Like I said, I'm 2 weeks post-op so I expect not to be totally back to normal. I can't figure out if it is my incisions (which still have tabs on them), or if it internal and something to do with the port site. It doesn't hurt all the time by any means, it's just a little tender now and then. I am wondering if it is still healing in there - or if I should be taking some action on it because I surely don't want an infection. Any thoughts from the fellow banders? Thanks!!!

I was banded on 7/27. Like a few others on this thread, I am also an attorney. My job is fun - but being overweight has its challenges even in this profession. I too relate to so many of you when it comes to life, socializing and dating. I've been overweight for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a small rural town and had horses. I loved it! But then I just kept getting heavier and heavier no matter how active I was and before I knew it, I didn't have much to do with many activities I love so much! I'm excited about the band. I'm pretty active as it is playing volleyball and softball and swimming, and i know that this band will help me with my eating. I'm honestly nervous about all the bad things you hear about the band, so i'm trying to follow my doctor's orders so that nothing goes wrong. I don't want to be one of those "complication cases" so I'm hoping that I do everything right. I'm excited about this thread. It is so nice to see and hear of people my own age going through the same things both physically and emotionally. I am scared of getting the sagging skin but have heard to use firming lotion and to exercise and drink lots of Water. I'm afraid my boobs are going to sag to my knees and I may someday have to have a lift (which is something i've thought of anyways). Mostly, I want it to work out for all of us and with hard work and some determination and an attitude to NEVER GIVE UP, I am sure it will! GOOD LUCK to everyone - even those beyond this twentysomethings thread. This is a thread I will come to daily for support and more reading. By the way, CONGRATS Olive. That's awesome you've reached your first goal. My first goal is not on the scale - but to fit into my favorite pair of jeans I have since outgrown. I haven't tried them on yet, but maybe next week!

I'm so glad to hear this from everyone. Not that I want to go drink all the time, I just enjoy having some beers after work, on a Saturday night or what have you. How soon after the surgery did people start drinking? I'm 2 weeks post-op and have no plans of sucking down some cold ones yet, but maybe after I start regular foods which is in a few weeks! This is the best! Party on bandsters!

I'm in the same boat and have a lot of questions along the same lines. I don't drink as much as I did - in say college - but enjoy having a drink every now and then. I know it is empty calories and I will have to work hard as far as exercising after I drink but other than that, will it cause a problem with my band? Please advise!!!

Hello Everyone! I'm new to this site. I had my band on 7/27 and am down 13 pounds so far. There will likely be so many questions from me as I hear this process is like childbirth - you just don't know what to expect until you go through it yourself. I'm nervous about all of this but excited at the same time. I'm still in the post-op diet of yogurt and milk and cream soups but am getting through that. Only one more week of that and then I move on to just a few different foods. And I just I just wanted to say hello to everyone out there. I'm looking forward to everyone's insight on a journey I am just beginning.

Thanks to everyone! I'm looking forward to reading and replying to all sorts of stuff! Things are good so far. I find myself a little emotional right now, but I have read that is to be expected. My mom says maybe some "post-surgery depression" but I've never heard of such a thing. Was anyone else emotional like this following their own surgery?
