    Anyone here?

Hey gang, just wanted to pop in and say hello. Things are going pretty good here. I'm 16 weeks already! No weight gain yet and no more extreme band tightening either. I do feel some restriction coming back, so I'm having to pay more attention to what I'm eating again. My back is killing me though, especially on work days. I'm assuming it's half pregnancy related and half not-exercising related. I feel like such a sloth right now. I can't wait for the weather to get warm, so I can go for some nice walks outside! Maria
  3. Hey girls! Just popping in to say hi. I'm 16 weeks along today -- so crazy to think my pregnancy is almost half over. I still haven't gained anything, which is nice. You will not believe this... there are 5 of us at work pregnant and due within the same month! Crazy! Hope everyone is doing well! maria

    how long...

I didn't have any restrictions as to how long I had to wait. I was banded in January, started TTC in May, got preggo in December, so it ended up being just about a year out for me.
  5. Name: How far along: Due Date: Boy or Girl: Anything else? Here's me: Name: Maria How far along: 11 weeks Due Date: Sept 15 Boy or Girl: don't know yet Anything else? Everything is good so far!
  6. Just wondering because I swore I read somewhere that you needed to avoid it while pregnant because it isn't pastuerized. But then today I read some pregnancy newsletter where they suggest having honey in warm milk as a help for heartburn. Did you all get any direction on this from your doctors? maria
  7. Jodie, you are such a sweetheart! Don't let people get you down. I know it must be difficult, but you go out there and hold your head up high. You have just as much a right to have a kid as anyone else. And besides, a lot of dads don't even show up to those classes, so you might not be the only "single" lady in attendance. Chin up, girl! We're all here for you! Maria
  8. I say go for it now! My surgeon had told me that she preferred to put the band on before pregnancy because it would keep me from gaining too much weight during the pregnancy and ending up worse off than I already was. We did wait a year, but that was not for lack of trying! It took us 9 month to get pregnant. Having said that, all surgeons are different, and yours might be one of the ones who wants you to wait. It certainly never hurts to ask though!
  9. I tried starting a roll call, but only two people replied. A sticky would be good!

    oh my god...

I think she meant 3 months post-op, no days :w00t: In her original post she mentions being banded in Nov. So, she probably did have the preg test pre-surgery. I was a little horrified thinking that myself, as I've even twice had to have pregnancy tests before getting a fill because my doc used to use flouro!

    Can't lose any weight!

Tangerine, one thing that might help considering you are having TOM right now is to really watch your salt intake. Salt makes us retain water. Cut the salt and you should see some release. A bodybuilder friend of mine does this to the extreme, but I've had some good results by merely sticking to fresh veggies, egg whites, and chicken breast for a day or two. The key is no processed foods.

    oh my god...

    Happy Birthday!
  13. Oh my gosh, you're so right about it being an X-ray. I didn't even think about that! My original surgeon did all her fills under flouro, so I think I was a bit spoiled by that. My new guy doesn't, and he had a bit of a hard time getting in mine -- I was terrified he was going to tell me it had flipped or something. So, for me, my first adjustment w/out flouro, was not pleasant at all! Hopefull when I lose more belly flab (after baby) it won't be so hard to access.

    found out bcbs michigan

I would check in with your band doc before your six months are up. I started all my pre-op testing and consultations in about the 4th month, so I was ready for surgery right at the end of the six month. Hope that made sense!

    I don't understand...

I am one of those "40lbs the first year" girls. I blame myself for not exercising at all and not always making the best food choices. I did really well the first 5 months, and then everything came to a halt. I had a fill at 9 months out that left me really tight. I should've spoken up, but I just tried to live with it. And in doing so, I made the mistake of falling back on softer, easier foods. That, combined with my exercise laziness, certainly did not help the situation! I think it's different for everyone. Some are just slower losers. Some, like me, maybe didn't work as hard as they could have. Don't let it discourage you!
  16. Hey everyone, I just wanted to say Hang in there! I wasn't limited to 1/2 cup of food until my 3rd fill. At my first, I was probably still eating about 1 cup of food, which was still significantly less than before banding. That is one thing I think is so great about the band -- it gives you time to adjust to new ways of eating. Each fill gets you a little more restriction, and you will eat a little bit less food. The second poster up there gave great advice. Follow the bandster rules now, and when you do get to that level of restriction, you'll be better able to cope and be successful!
  17. Mine always loosened up between 12 and 1. Even though I have less fill because I'm pregnant, I still am very careful what I eat before noon. I stick to scrambled eggs or Malt-O-Meal or yogurt with granola.

    Anyone here?

I'm here! :blushing: How did that five day pouch test thing go for everyone? Did anyone finish? I have to confess... now that I have my unfill, I can eat Pasta and sandwiches and bagels, OH MY! LOL! I am being so bad this past week. I was reflecting on what I ate yesterday and I realized I had hardly any Protein at all. That has got to stop! If I keep that up, I'm going to gain everything back. What's even worse is with eating like that I'm practically asking for gestational diabetes. Must stop! I think I need to start writing down what I eat again -- just to keep tabs on my carbaholism. Scary! So that's my story.
  19. That's what my doc said for me too. I'm hoping it's not for awhile yet! Is it just me, or are you a little freaked out about getting a band adjustment with a huge baby belly? My new doc doesn't use flouro and it wierds me out a little for him to be poking around looking for the port!

Where are all the Michigan people at??

Hi Lori! Welcome to bandland! :smile2: I'm in Oakland County too, but down in Royal Oak. I also see Dr. Krause now that my original surgeon moved out of state.
  21. Well, all I can tell you so far is that I've only gained 1lb during the first trimester. I'm just about 12 weeks now. I'll keep you posted as time goes on!
  22. juno610

    oh my god...

Depending on how much fill you have, you may not need it taken out at all. I only needed about 1/4 of what I had taken out, and that was only due to some extreme tightness! So take it easy  Everything will be fine!

    Anyone here?

That sucks! But steroids will certainly do that to you. It's so frustrating, isn't it?
  24. This happened to me too! It was about the 5th week for me, and I lived on chili and ice cream for a week until I could get in for an unfill. My doc took me from 1.9ccs to 1.3ccs, so not a huge unfill. It turned out to be just enough to let me eat like a normal person again. I lost two pounds right after that, and since then I've only gained 1 back! I still have restriction, which is nice, but I can eat most things again, like a sandwich or pasta, which I haven't been able to eat since last summer. Needless to say, I'm enjoying this.
