    What is a bump?

That is a means of moving the message back to the top of the list, usually to call attention to it. If a thread hasn't been posted on recently, it would get moved to the next page, so you can "bump" it back to the first page.

    January Bandsters???

My mom found out the same thing. I got some Pedialyte at Meijer yesterday. I'm hoping it will be a little gentler than the Gatorade. Also, I think I'm just gonna play it safe and cut out the juice altogether. I wish my nutritionist would've told me that! She actually suggested non-acidic juices for the liquid phase. :scared:

    January Bandsters???

Tonya, Mark, and enterprise01 - thanks so much! It helps to know I'm not the only one. I am going to hang on till my post-op appointment on Tuesday, and if it's still happening I'm definitely going to ask about dry toast and crackers!! Maria

    January Bandsters???

No one else had diarrhea?! I'm dying here! I am trying to add in some apple juice today (watered down), and I quit taking Maalox because of the magnesium. I actually had to use the bathroom at Meijer today because I knew I wouldn't make it home. Gross! At least it was clean. Seriously, what did you guys do to relieve this? I'm supposed to be on liquids for another week! Maria

    January Bandsters???

Edie, I was using the strips, but I've found that the chewable tabs work MUCH better for me. They are a little stronger as two tabs has more simethicone than 2 strips!

Where are all the Michigan people at??

Hey Michigan! Just wanted to report that I got my band this past Monday and everything went great! Still dealing with some gas issues, but I can handle it. Maria

    January Bandsters???

Good morning everyone! I have another question for y'all. My bowels are going crazy on me! And as it would happen, my doc's office is closed this weekend, and the answering service is no help. Can anyone tell me what instructions (if any) they were were given for diarrhea? I swear there is more liquid coming out that end than I'm putting in. I'm worried about getting dehydrated! Sorry to be a gross-out so early in the morning! Maria
  11. I had to do Optifast for four weeks prior to surgery -- docs orders. Luckily, I had bars to go along with the shakes. About 10 days into it, I completely lost my appetite, so I didn't really feel like I was missing out on anything. I did cheat occaisionally with a handful or tortilla chips (salt cravings) or a small piece of cheese. But that's about it. I lost about 16lbs. Maria

    January Bandsters???

I'm in the same boat as you. I've only been manageing about 40oz of liquids each day. I can't imagine drinking them any faster! The laughing part sucks too, doesn't it? I had to keep telling my mom to cut it out! Ah well, better to be laughing in pain than not laughing at all, I guess!

    January Bandsters???

I was just thinking about that this morning. Tomorrow I'm going to get my brows waxed... maybe I should tack on the legs too! The funny thing is, I'm staying at my mom's this week, and she has a shower stall with no ledges. It is next to impossible to shave in there regardless of major surgery! Maybe when I get home to my good old tub shower I'll have better luck. Here's to hairy legs!

Ah! Thank you so much Audree. I just needed to know that someone had gone through the same thing. I'll hunker down and wait it out! Maria

    January Bandsters???

Hey gang... question for you. I keep feeling like I have to burp, but nothing happens. Plus, I'm afraid to force it. Anyone else get that sensation? Most of my gas is passing out the other end (haha), so I'm not sure what's up with this wierd non-burp thing. Enterprise01 - I am right there with you. My mom is still putting my socks on for me -- I just can't bend! LOL! My whole abdomen still feels sore and distended. We'll get through it though! Hang in there! Maria

Yay! I'm so glad everything worked out!! :clap2:
  19. I've been taking Maalox Multi on top of gas-x and it's worked like a charm!

    gearing up for Surgery

Hi Amelia, I was just banded this past Monday. I decided to take two weeks off work. This is mostly because I have a semi-physical job. I was also concerned about being on liquids at work, so I wanted to make sure I was past that before I went back. Hope that helps! Maria

    Just Banded 1-22-07

Me too! Everything seems to be going well, although I'm having a harder time with liquids today. I think it might actually be gas, so I've been getting in some Maalox. Good luck to you! Maria

    January Bandsters???

Day 2 post op.... I feel so much better after sleeping last night. Needless to say, I did not sleep very well in the hospital Monday night. My back is still hurting, but the heating pad is doing wonders. My mom spread Bengay all over my upper back before I went to bed last night and that helped a ton too. I woke up once or twice because I realized I rolled over onto my stomach -- oops! Still no gas or incision pain. I'll count myself lucky there. I have been taking Tylenol with codeine every 6 hours, so I'm sure that's helping. Yesterday I barely managed to get 42oz of liquids in. And that was with sipping something constantly! I'm getting an earlier start today, so hopefully I'll get to 64oz at least. And to whoever mentioned those Imagine soups --- they are wonderful! Ugh... can't wait to take a shower today! LOL! Maria

    January Bandsters???

I wouldn't worry too much about the skipped beats. Did she say anything more specific about them? Many people have what are called PVCs, which can sometimes feel like skipped beats. They are usually harmless unless they are very frequent or you have several of them right in a row. If they only showed up on that one EKG, that is probably what they were. I think you'll be fine Did you have a stress test at all? Maria (who works in cardiology)

    January Bandsters???

Congrats! My throat was pretty sore after surgery too. I think it was from the breathing tube though. Glad you are feeling good -- isn't it a relief to have it done?

    Medications

I take Avapro for high blood pressure, and I've been crushing it. It's horribly gross -- I can't wait till I'm able to swallow it in halves! As for what's crushable... I'm pretty sure that you can crush your BP meds as long as it is not extended-release.
