Hi, I am about a week and a half post op, had Lapband surgery on August 3rd, 2009. I am having a hard time getting my protein and liquid in. I was suppose to be on liquid for 2 weeks, but had to call the Doctor yesterday for help. I got “permission” to switch to the mushy/pureed foods early to try to get more protein into my body. I can’t stand shakes or anything sweeten with fake flavors and broth is getting hard to keep down too. After speaking to the Doctor I opened a can of fat free refried beans. They really seem so good that I’m thinking it’s really bad! I hate that I couldn’t stay on track and had to switch to pureed too early! I feel like I am screwing this up and it’s only been a week. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep on track? Hunger is not the issue at all, I really don't feel hungry. Protein intake is my biggest issue and protein shakes and powders are just too nasty to stomach. I almost feel like I’d rather starve than have another nasty protein shake. I have tons and tons of different flavors and brands of drinks and "non-flavored" powders that I’ve tried and not one of them I can drink... (even the thought of them makes me cringe). I really have tried hard to drink them but it's getting to the point where I am risking throwing up and causing more damage. Any suggestions? I just finished the other ½ can of fat free refried beans I opened yesterday and feel like the biggest cheater!

I am having the same problem, I can't stand the shakes and now broth is getting to me. I called my doctor yesterday and was given permission to switch to pureed foods due to lack of Protein intake, almost a week early. I've only eaten a can of Fat Free Refried Beans since given "permission" yesterday, but I feel like I've cheated by eating an entire mexican restaurant! Now that I feel like the biggest Lapbad loser, I'm going out today to try to find yet another Protein Drink I may be able to tolerate. It's costing a fortune!
