I have always struggled with my weight. From the time I was a little girl going through all those pre-pubescent changes, I began to gain weight. I was always the tallest, biggest girl in my group. This affected me in many ways, causing me to eat even more. Four years ago my sister had lap-band surgery. Although she had wonderful results (from 317 pounds to 185 pounds) I never really considered it until I had more health problems this past year. I keep going up and down on the scales, and this past January I reached my highest weight of 419 pounds. I put myself on a modified diet and lost down to 375. I finally decided I wanted to look into weight loss surgery for myself and called my doctor for more information. I went to the seminar in April, and have spent the last few months going through all the pre-surgery testing and requirements to meet my insurance regulations. I found out a few weeks ago that my insurance and my husband's coverage on me will both pay, so I am waiting for the day of my surgery. I know this will be a life changing experience, and I feel excited, scared, apprehensive, and thrilled all at the same time. I am ready to make the change in how I eat so that I can have a longer, fuller life with the man I love.
