So glad you're happy and it went well Sadie! Bye bye saggy girls, hello perky girls!
-
Totally! And you spend so little on food, going out has never been so affordable. I spend more on booze than food for sure. And I usually have a kids lunch bag with me & a takeaway container & ice brick, so I get to get 2 or 3 meals out of the one.
-
Yeah, beer is just too gassy. Champagne is o.k. if sipped very slowly, but I can't usually eat at the same time so I prefer still wine. Can't see why a bloody Mary would be a problem. Just remember, with so little food, you can get wasted quickly!

What to tell family and friends about your decision for WLS
GracieBelle replied to bandstarr430's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto, to all of the above. Everyone has very valid points & insight into this issue. I've talked about this in my blog if anyone's interested. I'm 7yrs post op & I've also talked about peoples behaviour after too. sndycnrd expresses well how I feel too. It's your life, your body, your decision. No one can know what it's like to be you. I'm sure your not incapable of making informed, educated decisions involving your life and your health. Don't let others ignorance or fears stall you on what your know is right. Best of luck -
Lap band intolerance and bypass revision?
GracieBelle replied to Julie_Dizz's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
So sorry to hear of your situation. I have nothing to offer in advice I'm afraid. I just wanted to wish you good luck, keep your chin up & hope the right answer comes to you. Best wishes, truly, from the heart. -
All the best Sadie. Am keen to hear updates. I've had a fair bit done; it's on my blog if your interested. My arse disappeared too at one stage! But the booty is back lol. Recover well, and fast sweetie.

I've written about this topic in my blog. You get used to it, you have to. I get up, have a coffee, then it's sip, sip, sip for as much as I can. Then a little to eat, then sip, sip, sip. I used to love to skull a glass of water, but not anymore. Oh, & illuminationlady, I drink with my meals. Usually Chardonnay! Cheers

Do you burp more now that you are banded? (non-productive, just air)
GracieBelle replied to dustout's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I probably burp less & smaller ones, but I have this weird 'gurgling' sound sometimes. Like air making its way up or down. When I roll over in bed, it happens every, single time, about 2 or 3 seconds after the roll. It's creepy. Hope my husband isn't creeped out by it! Not exactly a love call! -

LMAO. You sensitive new age guy. Try beer. -
Hi Pink Stella. Happy you found me too! My blog has been a bit neglected lately...it's been an incredibly busy time for me and my family lately. But I'm gonna post more and I'd love you to ask questions, cause that gives me inspiration to share. All the best. Gracie

So, so, so happy for you. Stay well and happy, you deserve it.

Any one band at 200 lbs - Im wondering if this is right for me?
GracieBelle replied to curiousinoh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I weighed 273 lbs & got down to 127.87 lbs in about 16 months. That was 7 yrs ago. I sat at 132.28 for a long time & have slowly gone up to 154 lbs over time. I've been steady at that for months now. I'd like to get back down to 132 lbs, but need to up the exercising. I'm 41 and 5ft 6 and a half. The lapband has changed my life for the better. When my efforts failed me, it saved me. Good luck. -
Gaining weight, and always thirsty.
GracieBelle replied to bblazer1991's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I personally don't count calories. That never worked for me in the past so why would it now. I dieted my way to obesity. How much water are you getting? If it's enough but you're still thirsty your body could be adjusting to the change in your stomach. Your doctor should never give you a hard time. Some people notice big changes with every fill, some hardly notice. You may not be at a stage yet where the effect is going to start making a difference on the scales. The portion amounts I eat would make a bird hungry, and yet I'm fine. I have energy, my vitiman levels are good (I don't take supplements) and my weight is stable. I eat what I want that I know I can manage. I'm not a sweets lover, but I do like salty foods. I'm just living, you know? Everyone tells you this and that...this is bad...that must be done, yadda, yadda, yadda. I did everything 'they' said before surgery and only got fatter. So why listen to 'them' now. It's early for you, I know & I'm 7yrs post, but all I'm saying is chillax, don't sweat the small stuff and listen to your gut instincts. More than often, you'll be right & will know the answer or how to find it. All the best. -
had surgery yesterday
GracieBelle replied to gbakerc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad it went smoothly for you. Mine was good too (except I don't do aneasthetic well). But recovery is quick and laporascopic surgery is definately the way of the future. Happy for you. and excited. You're about to go into the honeymoon period - weight loss, feeling lighter, fitter, happier, healthier, It's great. Well done. all the best! And to everyone else too. -
Dining out issue?
GracieBelle replied to joshesgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take a take away container & small cooler bag in my handbag. If I can't finish it, I take it with me. In Australia, they had a bit of a thing about 'doggy bags' cause some oldies would get sick cause they'd leave it unrefridgerated for too long or not reheat it enough or leave it too long to have it. Places didn't want to get sued. But now I find, most don't give a sh*t, and are happy that you liked it enough that you don't want to waste it. If the place you're goin too has nothing acceptable for you, just have a water & stuff em! It's not like you're gonna starve. I've got a heap of stuff on this issue on my blog if you're interested. 7 yrs has given me plenty of time to sort out some solutions. Remember, you're the customer, you come first & shouldn't have to bow down/fit in or conform to anyone elses rules about your body! All the best. -
First Fill and Feeling Tight!
GracieBelle replied to sandiegokate's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It takes a bit of getting used to. The 1st fill can be a dramatic difference. I remember losing 5kgs in a w/e after a fill. Unfortunately, I was partying, not eating & drinking a bit of alcohol. I nearly dehydrated, but woke up to what was going on. This is where the REALLY conscious intake part of your life begins. Don't worry tho, it's easy to adapt. You might hit a few bumps in the road. I'm 7yrs post banding & I still occasionally find myself 'stuck' or stuggling & don't know why. I'm excited for you, cause I know you're going through the 'wow' stage-losing & feeling fantastic about it. If you struggle with water & cant drink a litre of fluid in a day, then you're too tight & need to go back & have a little let out. Good luck, & happy days! -

GracieBelle replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Erin, sweetie, you'll do what you know in your heart is the right thing to do if you exhaust every option available to you. We can't know exactly what you're going through because everyones experience is different. Apart from vlemus, who believed they had experienced the same as you, I'm not reading any other post from people who've had the same or similar situation. It makes me wonder if you need a complete physical as perhaps there could be un-band-related issues going on with you atm? Having a bladder infection is nasty. Sometimes the antibiotics they put you on aren't the right kind or you need a second round because the infection is quite severe. You may have a secondary infection also. I'm so sad that you're suffering so. I hope that your health returns and you make a well informed & thought through decision on the future of your band. You're a young women who's determined (I can tell that), and you'll make it, I'm certain. You will be happy. You will be healthy. You're just going thru a really sucky time right now unfortunately. But, when you come out the other side, you'll be even stronger than before! Best of luck. -

Pink Stella, I'm 7yrs post banding. I have a blog where I discuss many of my experiences if you'd like to check it out. I can't complain. I'm happy and at a normal weight. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. -

Sorry, I was 65kgs overweight, doesn't mean I don't get your frustration. I does get harder as we get older. And I can understand you probably feel that you're weight will keep on creeping up and you wont be able to ever get it down. I think you should be a candidate. 25kgs is enough to increase health risks and at 52 years old, you are at an age where you can turn it around. Get a referral and talk to a surgeon. I think the outcome for you will be all that you could hope for and really give you some new energy for life. Even 50% would make you feel better, but what would your doctor know? Is he your GP or a specialist is gastric surgery? Good luck, and welcome to the forum. :-) -
Must everything be sugar free??
GracieBelle replied to abercchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What Jacqui & Stephanie said. Ditto. As long as you're not a total sweet tooth hardcore junkie, it doesn't matter much. You're not going to be able to eat enough of a fattening thing to do too much damage. That said, if you puree mars bars and woof them down regularly, you've got a problem, me thinks. I've had Splenda in my coffee for years and I'm just used to that. I don't like sugar in my coffee anymore. I don't like real coke anymore. The after taste of all that sugar is just yuk. You feel like your tastebuds have been violated. Having said that, I'll occasionally enjoy one or three balls of Lindor white chocolate with the gooey centre. I was doing that for awhile, but I just realised I haven't had any in months. Guess you change. -
You're questioning if it's eating too fast or not chewing enought, so your instincts might be telling you something. Your old habbit of eating fast might be sneaking up on you and this is a wake up call. Get your focus back on conscious, careful eating. If you're doing it right, & you still have problems, then you must see your doctor as you've ruled out a possible problem you may have been causing yourself. It's easy to forget about it sometimes. All the best :-)

Don't weigh yourself everyday if it's gonna do your head in. 1lb could just be a poo you need to get rid of! lol! I'd suggest weigh yourself first thing in the morning, after you've emptied your bladder/bowels and are naked. But only do it on one day of the week. Same day each week. Be positive, it's just early days. T'sall good mate! Chillax.

too much alcohol, what happens?
GracieBelle replied to peaches76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep Quickeeze or Mylanta tablets in your bag and eat one just as you go in. That's what I do. I also wear a bra strap extender & loosen it in the loo, it makes me more comfortable when I'm sitting down & eating.
